900 RPM is 15 RPS. 400FPS..That's an M120 spring with a good air seal. That's completely possible. Cyma MP5s come with 120 or 130 springs as standard I believe and can fire 400 FPS if the air seal is good and you win the ACM lottery. 15 RPS is nothing, average guns fire 20RPS nowadays. Throw in some 13:1 or 12:1 gears,an SHS high torque and on a 9.9v Life you can get up to 30 RPS easily. Stock Marui High cycles come firing 30 RPS on an 8.4v nimh (but only firing at 250 or so FPS)2 points -
So how much extra would you be prepared to pay for all this out of the box reliability/performance? I seem to remember you saying in another thread that you don't see the point of paying big numbers for a gun and that you'd rather buy something cheap and upgrade it so I wonder if you would even buy a gun that came with all the stuff you're saying you want and still leave it alone! In terms of general AEG weapons, G&G top tech guns are great out of the box and I've heard very good things about the Lonex M4s but ultimatley a £90 CYMA does what it needs to with nothing more than a battery and some ammo! Maybe your expectations of what can or indeed should be done to an off the shelf product are a little high?2 points

I apologise in advance about the size of the images. I just print screened them. f*cking disgrace. Also, I noticed that they are not on the UKARA database And to all those that think that I am not thorough enough in my research, I clicked all the links on the UKARA website, and none of them redirect to BBG4L. UK Beret help
The Leprechaun! reacted to jcheeseright for a topic
I dunno, every time I see a maroon or green beret on a skinny 17 year old I think to myself... "tosser". Which is completely irrational I know, I've never earned either of those berets either, and my navy blue one only took 8 weeks to get (you fcking sprog Mike636, get the wets on) but for some reason it still gets me. Not that I'd ever express it to them, they're entirely within their rights to wear whatever the hell they like to airsoft.1 point -
What Navy Blue?!?! How dare you impersonate a member of Her Majesty's Royal Navy? Do understand the 9 weeks of cleaning, polishing and mild inconvenience we have to go though to earn that beret? I think not!1 point

Fitting CAA handguard
Airsoft_Mr B reacted to Lozart for a topic
I hate to say it buddy but I think you're donald ducked on that one. All the aftermarket handguards of a Magpul/CAA style I've seen are designed primarily for the real steel market so they expect a real steel style delta nut to hold it all together. If you just want to add rails to a standard handguard there are ones designed for that very task: http://www.actionhobbies.co.uk/M16-AR15-M4-Hand-Guard-Base-Rail_AWWG4.aspx#.U3oyQPldWSo I had one like this on my original handguard until I swapped mine out for the MOE guard (and the delta ring and all the other bits and pieces need to make it fit).1 point -
Sounds great however the rifle was sent to me having been sprayed in tan already, and I don't have a can of paint in that colour. I've got a 3/4 full can of black so I'll just add the dots to it. edit: Man this stuff dries quick1 point

Ok, cool, just wanted some opinions on it will have to dig out the black spray paint once the brown's touch up coat has dried. Thank god it's hot today!1 point

Spend some money on kit and rent an AEG. Good boots, eye pro(tection) and some camo clothing should be top priority. See if you actually really like airsoft before you start throwing money into the bottomless pit of RIFs.1 point

Says 'Sold' in the corner so someone really had a lot of cash to burn seeing as there's well under $1000 of stuff there. If all those optics were RS then maybe.. but even then you're talking like $7000 unless the sniper scopes were S&B or something.1 point -

Manufacturer's out of the box performance
Lozart reacted to jcheeseright for a topic
For your normal AEG I'm still putting r-hop down as snake oil along with the fallacy that a longer tighter bore barrel is 'more accurate'. I've shot a huge array of guns and I've never had one shoot reliably further than 60 yards (that's a measured 60 yards on a range, not an airsofter's "my gun shoots coke cans at 60 yards") effective range. R-hop, j-hop, q-hop bla bla bla... none of them shooting 350fps or less have gone really any further reliably than that distance. For a sniper rifle yeah it may be a marginal gain but for your average AEG? no. That and sorbo pads, radiused gearboxes... really now? I know I roll this out pretty regularly but my old Marui M4 had been chugging away reliably for MORE THAN A DECADE with zero maintenance before I sold it, that includes a couple of years sat in a box under a bed with all the seals 'drying out' (clearly they didn't) and it shot just as well on the day I chrono'd it for sale as it did the day I bought it back in 2001. This is the same brand that uses 'crappy plastic bushings' and pot metal gears along with a terribly low tech non-radiused gearbox shell and not a bearing in sight! Yes, there are performance gains to be had on this design, but even so they're marginal... bearing spring guides etc yeah, they might extend the life of the gun by another decade? Reliability is entirely down to good materials and quality control, without those things all the best bearings and sorbothane are useless from the factory. Performance is also entirely down to good materials, design and quality control... an r-hop by all accounts takes a vast amount of fettling to be effective and it'll never work from the factory. Airsofters have this massive fixation with 'upgrades' and chasing the next big performance gain but if you've got a half decent gun to begin with you're chasing smoke, if you've bought a JG M4 with 5 previous owners you don't need upgrades, you need your head checking.1 point -
