The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread

Soaked. Soaked to fuck. Removed my gloves for one game because they were soaked, got both middle and ring finger shot which are now bruised and swollen in a nice purple colour. Goggles fogged up to fuck all day. People left one by one because of the weather. When it ended, walked for 30 min in torrential rain with no cover and sat on the bus for an hour with all my stuff laid out everywhere on the top floor. Still was a decent day though.3 points -

Just got the wiring loom built by Cage/Perun. Micro switches look to have some sort of coating over the switch (the bit that the are pushes down on) so hoping it will live up to the hype of those water submersion videos that Cage posted. It use's an electronic "fuse" so finally that shitty blade fuse in the stock is gone along with basic tone info beeps, low battery and tripped fuse. first impressions seem to be good. Anyone want an photos of any of the insides while I install it? Hight of the pinon against the bevel se t from factory ETC? On the subject of BBs, I have only ever run geoff's bbs, 0.32g Tracer and 0.36g SP. Touch wood never had a miss feed or crushed BB so wary of trying any thing else. This look interesting, a adapter that uses KWA 120 round EPM mags and still has bolt lock https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEeIW41gvg4 Good resource for maintenance and disassembly https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCctYtgnvuGhNogS7wxTE1-A/videos2 points -
Are we still talking about Airsoft here ??? I did that once and came back with a new car. It was the same brand and colour as the old one just more power and more shiny. I was hoping her In doors wouldn’t notice. I kinda got that wrong ??? . Let’s get back to new guns now. Right? ??2 points

nice idea. Also ADMINS, if you happen to stumble into this thread can you rename/move it to something/somewhere more suitable.1 point -
Yeah I literally knew this, but some other guys were claiming that silicon oil in their trigger box worked really well so I went with that, but luckily in the end it was just 15 minutes of work to clean it out, apply lt2 grease and problem solved! Definitely keeping silicon oil WELL away from my trigger box.1 point

Not a bad idea to start listing what works and what doesn't for the GBLS. I'll start and feel free to add as this thread progresses. The HP polymer magazines can be set for 20/30/40/60 or 85 bb's. To take them apart push the retainer on the base up and slide the magazine base off. This can be quite tight on the first attempt so a bit of gentle presuasion might be needed. This exposes the 2mm allen bolt and once that is removed the base plate comes out along with the retainer. There are 2 springs in the retainer and can be easily lost. it is possible to super glue the springs to the retainer if needed. Push the bolt stop lever on the top of the magazine upwards and slide the magazine downwards in the shell to remove. Once apart pry out the silver rod and slot into whatever number you want to set the magazine for. If you want 85 then put it in the hole that has no markings (like mine in the picture). I actually don't know who many you can get in the magazine if you leave the silver rod out completely. for BB's it might be worth cutting and pasting this list so that it continues to grow. So far I have tried and had no failures with Blaster Devil 0.3g (diamond) Vorsk 0.30g Green tracer For optics I'm running a Vortex Crossfire Red Dot sight (designed for real firearms) and once zero'd it has stayed zero'd. (ask the blue team from Echolon Airsoft site yesterday ) I tried some clone sights but they don't hold zero for long.1 point -
Finally snagged a Tactical Airsoft Fast Frag 60: https://ampedairsoft.com/tactical-airsoft-combat-simulations-fast-frag-60-single/ They're hand-made in small batches so had to wait like 6 months, and snagged the last OD one. It's for holding my Tornado2. Got my Milspectailor belt too: Great quality highly recommend. https://www.milspectailor.com/product-page/gen1-shooter-belt And 3x InvaderGear 40mm pouches for my master mikes:1 point

If it's sold as retail stock and at retail prices but it's not in retail packaging then it warrants a bit more investigation, there's a reason they're in a plain black box and that's certainly being glossed over by the seller.1 point

I think this may well end up being the official GBLS thread. After all it begins with a review and we all start chiming in ? Myself, I am resisting the temptation. But you know what temptation leads to eventually ?1 point

I started having this issue as soon as I put a single drop of silicon oil into my g&p/RiW trigger box lol. Literally a single drop of silicon oil onto the semi/full auto sear and it completely stopped working. My stock trigger box had the same issue. As soon as I started using silicon oil to lube the sears, it started failing to reset after firing on semi. So I ordered the g&p/RuninWorkshop box thinking that the stock one was just too worn down. I was happy with the RiW one but I felt it become a little gritty after a few weeks so I took it apart, applied silicon oil thinking that would help, but instead it made the parts lock up and feel extremely gritty. Eventually I decided to strip it again, clean alllll the silicon oil from the box itself and clean all the different sears individually, then I very lightly lubed all the contact surfaces with abbey lt2 grease, and by lightly I mean extreeemely lightly- it almost looked like there was no lube at all. This completely fixed my issues, and now it runs like a charm! So I would recommend staying far away from silicon oil when dealing with the mws trigger box.1 point

In my defence I don’t strictly have ownership of the said item as yet. I’ve paid my mate 50% and the remainder will be next pay day. I’ll of course post a pic next month. In the mean time I need to work on my guns to be able to pick the bloody thing up… to say I’m excited is an understatement. ?1 point

I had a surprise airsoft day today at a totally new site. Was literally their first game and the first time I've gone to a site (in the UK) that isn't Worthing! ? I was down at S.W.A near Hailsham and it was grand. No site knowledge meant I really had to play carefully, and the wind and torrential rain weren't helping me with my bolt action VSR (the number of shots I watched whizz off to the side...). It was a pretty one-sided day though, since our team was playing aggressive and I think a lot of the other people on site were new, while our team had a coordinated team, with some ex-forces guys, making up the core of it. My highlights for the day were: An enemy sniper running up to take cover behind the tree I was sitting in front of without noticing me sitting in front of it with my russian leafy hood thing up. I turned with the mk23 and he tried to say "bang" while his hand wasn't even on the trigger of his rifle (was carrying it at the front of the stock) and there were no bang rule on site, as said in the safety brief. Plus, MED is a thing, so I just shot with the mk23. I'd have been slightly (not much) more inclined to take the bang kill anyway if it wasn't clear he was initially oblivious to my presence. A "mom, get the camera!" moment where a large squad of 8 managed to flank around our team to the objective. I waited for them to get in positions where I could shoot them and just started picking them off. With how quiet the HPA VSR is, none of them knew where the shots were coming from and I took out 6 of them before some of our team's respawns came in and mopped up the rest. Spent the rest of that game behind various tree stumps in the middle of the field and I think I got something like 15 kills in that game since they never pinpointed me, but kept moving past me so I could shoot them in the side and back, which never happens with a boltie! I'm usually lucky to get 5 kills in a game! Hitting someone in the helmet with the VSR (2.3J on .48s!), the satisfying "dink", the recoil of the head from the impact and... then him not taking the hit. ? The only downside of the day was... me being on a keto diet and the lunch they served was bangers, mash and beans. I watched enviously as my team mates devoured their mashed potatos and beans while I was munching on my sausages ? On the whole, I really enjoyed the change of scenery. The site has some teething issues, which I'd expect from a first ever game, but I think with more time and more skirmish weekends it could end up being a fantastic site.1 point

I'm with @Druid799 on this, I've used a number of UK Airsoft retailers over the years, & more often than not they've been piss poor, everything from non existent stock, what they have got is often priced above RRP, & don't get me started on the shit eating attitude towards customers that many of them seem to have, you end up ready to slap some manners in to these twàts. I'm not a sheep, I have a bad experience, whether it's a site or a shop, you'll not get a second chance. so then my my hard earned goes elsewhere, if that means out of the UK, so be it.1 point -

just my two pence on this debate. Also, free trade and open markets are great for finding deals... think of it as a more fun and rewarding insurance comparison site. You wouldnt stay with a 'local' insurance company who jacks up your cover by a £100 each year for no reason when there is another offering the same for much cheaper... you just have to put up with the inevitable asian call centre if things go sideways1 point -

Interesting one this, we have a WE double barreled 1911 which is a *tad* (awesomely) overpriced at £140 seen as they retail at £170ish, especially considering the shitty condition. The real eye opener for me is the G18c, which is described as the usual 'pretty much as new' despite having a fucked front end from being yeeted during a game. So, second hand, skirmished and damaged we're asking £4 more than you can presently buy a G18c brand new from Firesupport. The reasoning on this one is the addition of a Serpa holster, which from quick general reading is also second hand and hot garbage anyway. Oh, and that's plus postage which I guarantee won't be cheaper than Firesupports postage, widening the gap further. This thing of lumping unwanted accessories in with a gun that isn't worth the asking in the first place needs to go away and die. That and the nearly/as/pretty much new thing. It's either new or it's second hand. If you've removed it from the package, taken it to a game and run it, it's definitely second hand. 'New' should not appear anywhere in the description, ESPECIALLY if you've tried to use it as a lawn dart. ?1 point -

Good, I'd like to see a lot more of this happening. I mean, I wish it didn't have to, but when it does, site owners should mean everything that they say regarding rules and consequences. We can all make mistakes, and get a bit of red mist on at times. But there are a very small number of excitable spunktrumpets who are incapable of or unwilling to play by the same rules and with the same good humour and restraint as everyone else, and ultimately the only way to deal with them is to make them some other hobby's problem.1 point

In a word crap! My two sons and I were really excited to play at Combat Thetford again after the amazing day we had had earlier in the year. Kit all prepped, all magazines loaded (oh my god how many mags ? and we traveled the 1hr 15 mins to get there for 09:00 knowing with everything prepared in advance we would have plenty of time for chrono etc etc. Sadly at chrone, unbeknown to me or my sons they had in the last month decided to enforce the bio bb rule and were asking to see proof of the bottles before chrono. I didn't see anything on the website or on the ticket info when booking to highlight that this was now being enforced. we were now panicking and feeling on the back foot immediately. That threw all 3 of us in to a panic and cost us about £100 in bio bb's from their shop for all our weapons. All mags unloaded and reloaded in the tent and off we go again to chrono. ASG CZ p-09 using c02 (I don't have green gas mags at all) for the first time in 12 months of skirmishes is showing as hot and can't be used. The sniper rifle is flinging 0.43g bb's all over the place and won't show a consistent FPS when it had been fine 2 weeks before (after stripping it down last night I found lube in the bucking so at least I now know why ? MP7 and predator are fine but I don't have a load out configured to be able to carry and use them together and they are probably too similar to make it worth it other than just the pure fun of the TM MP7. Then it transpires that the forestry commission has forced them to use a different part of the forest so all the areas we played in before, including the amazing and massive village, are not available. The woodland is massively overgrown with 3/4foot plus bracken so anything not a sniper or DMR is massively disadvantaged. My eldest sons lmg is playing up and just stops when the batteries seem to still have lots of life left in them: By 12:00 my youngest has had enough of the games and terrain and gives his predator to my eldest and stops playing. By lunch time we have all had enough. Have some lunch, pack up and set off back home again. We are all very disappointed that the change of playing area and the enforcing of bio bb's was not shouted from the highest rooftops and like many others apparently, were not made aware until we turned up. It will take an awful lot for us to return here again now.0 points

These are the same people who play rugby just so they can make big hits and/or fight people. Or play Sunday league to two foot players. Anyway, my airsoft day… didn’t. DMR is still in a queue to get fixed after eating the mosfet, so I got my M249 out the cupboard. That then locked up during my test fire meaning I need to take it down to unlock it. I took that as a sign and moved it to next week. The most annoying bit is this would be the game to get my UKARA reactivated and I have a TAC41 waiting for me at Firesupport.0 points
