I actually forgot to add my serious response. I've found with DHL when getting Apple stuff from the Netherlands, they scan the parcel received, chuck it on a pallet or container, then ship that when it's full or scheduled. So you parcel doesn't get scanned again until they unload that cargo at the other end. So its nothing....nothing.... nothing... i'm pulling into your road now, hope you're in.3 points

We have been discussing the painting of an IF into a RIF thus ‘modification’ under the VCRA - which has a maximum 51 week sentence if a crime is committed. Modification by changing parts and increasing the power is a different matter. I’ll get back to that in a minute The VCRA does not care if you can find coloured parts or not. Change a coloured stock to a black stock and you have modified an IF to a RIF which may or may not be illegal based on section 37 defences. You have the option to paint a black stock into an approved VCRA colour which would retain IF status You’ve complained about legal grey areas but keep proposing other grey areas. Now back to increasing the power of an airsoft IF/RIF. Not long ago there was the legal quandary that an airsoft gun was a low power air weapon (firearm) and therefore was strictly speaking not an imitation. If it’s a firearm then the VCRA does not apply and it does not matter what colour it is as it is neither an ‘Imitation Firearm’ or ‘Realistic Imitation Firearm’ (This may trigger another side conversation that an airgun looking like a real steel firearm is both a firearm and an imitation. I shall say it’s not because it’s a firearm, so can’t be an imitation) This contradictory position was removed from the firearms act by adding the statement that a UK compliant airsoft gun within the specified power level and designed to fire plastic BBs is no longer a firearm in the firearms act and falls under VCRA criteria if either an IF or RIF So what if you do modify an airsoft gun and increase its power? It won’t be legal for airsoft skirmishing But it won’t be an illegal firearm Unless it’s power is vastly increased it would now be a low power air weapon Thats a problem in Scotland now with the need for an air weapon certificate, but not in England. It’s just an airgun I have an extensive armoury of low power air weapons which are both realistic and non realistic, but I use them to legally shoot people with UK approved frangible projectiles, and I also have the details from the Home Office stating that’s fine (with an addendum that if a court decided my realistic ones are RIFs then my UKPSF membership will be fine as the skirmisher defence - which certainly wouldn’t stand up in court to scrutiny, however since that statement was made the joules adjustment to legislation was made, and they exceed that power level so are clear of the VCRA and are compliant with approved testing of the frangible projectiles So I’m back with very legal firearms and no need for a firearms certificate By the way - the minimum level of PPE in airsoft is shite. Eye protection that is currently permitted under the law is at the absolute minimum of impact protection, such as glasses with impact protection. Only some airsoft eye protection is adequate to the risk, but as an adult players are permitted to take that personal risk by sites and their insurers. For under 18s it’s recognised as inadequate and they are required to use full face protection (effectively by the insurance industry not being able to offset the sites liability to minors)1 point

Fair point , BUT as Airsoft is 80% ‘the look’ and 20% performance it NEEDS a spectre not an ACOG ! ?1 point

Thanks for sharing! Ive got a Keymod rail you can have FOC if you want to enable a PEQ or other device on the side. ACOGs and SPECTREs are the coolest looking mag optics for sure! If i didn’t have my AK I’d have another L85 as my main gun for sure1 point

They certainly will be fine for airsoft. Good eye pro ? Regards1 point

I'll probably run it like this next game. The full rail lets me get the ACOG far enough forward that I dont feel its going to smack me in the face with recoil The gun is one I own jointly with a mate , we do have a SUSAT for it but TBH I prefer an ACOG. Not a fan of vert grips although I do have one with the integral bipod, but a torch is a bit of fun !1 point

Was my order that obvious ? I'm thinking the piston head with a bearing, as the DE M90X's spring guide has a bearing as well, will probably compress the spring a bit more and with a better air seal take me over 350 FPS. We'll know in a few days...1 point

Tactical Pith Helmet reacted to Tommikka for a topic
In real life the original objective of ‘machine guns’ was to be inconsistent & inaccurate. That meant a high rate of fire and a low level of accuracy was not to deliver a line of bullets in quick succession but a distributed ‘cloud’ which either deny an area suppressing the opposition or hit a wide random selection of advancing opposition. If you’re suppressing then you want a high enough rate of fire to make the opposition hesitate from chancing their ability to run through the spaced out gaps in between them If you have a muzzle velocity of 350fps and a rate of fire of 22rps/bps then each BB has travelled 15.9 feet before the next one follows. (Ignoring deceleration etc) If they are consistent and accurate then your opposition has a gap of almost 16 feet to move in 1/22nd of a second If you’re firing accurately then they just need to keep their head down and dodge that spot1 point -
Let me know how that Gearparts M105 spring works out for you, plus any problems. I've not opened one of the new DE yet, will get hold of one soon though.1 point

Yeah, 22rps is plenty. A box mag will enable the suppressive effect but as TacticalPith mentioned, its a bit less practical in general skirmish games. Anyone who wants to play as LMG can just use a drum mag with a HoneyBadger or MP5. I think some sites do restrict that which is good.1 point -

Rogerborg reacted to Tactical Pith Helmet for a topic
I use an LMG. Proper suppressive fire does not need a massive rof. Causing a stream of plastic to whir past where someone may stick there head out is of dubious worth. You're better off rattling a longish slow burst into cover so that folk know there being covered in my experience. In airsoft milsims and filmsims the advantage is mag capacity and round amount loaded. No advantage in skirmishes.1 point -

I thought I'd add a bit of info here about my M904E that others may find useful, as all DE M90X's are the same inside, and some work I'll be doing on it in the coming week or so. I've had my M904E for around six months, played six full days with it, and shot 15k to 18k of 0.25g BB's (I take well placed shots, but also enjoy playing a "support" role, so can get through them) all of which are having an effect on it. First of all the stock spring compressed, dropping 15 or so FPS, and replacing that got things back to how it was out of the box at around 345 FPS on 0.20g. However, my heavy use is now taking another toll, in that the gun is now down by another 15 or so FPS. I'm assuming the air seal is dropping off after heavy use, so I'll be cracking open my first ever gearbox (which I'm getting excited about). I've just bought various parts from AK2M4 as well as I thought I may as well swap out a few things, XT 14 tooth piston (CNC rack) + XT cylinder head + nozzles and a few other bits and bobs (plus a slightly weaker spring as I may possibly run hot after this). I'm still 100% of the opinion that DE M90X's are great guns for the money, my son has Santa dropping him off one, however I'm starting to see where potentially their cheaper parts / bill of materials / build is having an effect?1 point

Up until you do something stupid and it then becomes a firearms offence... That can be as simple as a 1.3 Joule rifle having a larger power spring in it that pushes it over the 1.3 Joule maximum for semi and full auto, it is then classed as a firearm. Anyway, yes, toys is one way of describing them, I prefer to use SPORTS EQUIPMENT as that is essentially what airsoft is, an activity and interactive team sport, so your "Guns" are "Sporting Equipment" and a necessary piece of equipment for the sport. You know, "Sports equipment" sounds much nicer than "GUN". I consider a gun to be any air rifle of 11.9ft lbs or higher and powder rounds, literally anything that can achieve 16 or more Joules is in my book, a gun (rifle) I am pretty sure if you took your rif to a gun range and called it a gun, you would be laughed at and ridiculed and possibly kicked out. I know as one airgun club went ice cold on me for merely mentioning airsoft. for some reason in the shooting communities, airsoft is looked down upon because of the ease at which hardware is gotten hold of that idiots commit a crime with one and the shooting community suffer because of tighter controls. So understandable. So anyway... REMEMBER FOLKS... they are not RIF's or Guns or Rifles but "SPORTING EQUIPMENT" and that should get around the paypal issue in some countries. BTW, anyone with a heron problem... light em up with your rif, deter them from eating your entire fish stocks, they have been known to make off with kittens and puppies, plenty of videos on what they will attack and eat, so I have no love for Herons, aka egrits, nasty buggers, so the most humane way of moving them on is to left them have a taste of airsoft.1 point

I would also recommend you put that £150 into an aeg. Two tone will add about £10, it might be worth just renting from a site for three games until you have a ukara. Otherwise, have a look at the specna arms CORE range, they have some decent guns at that price point, and a couple of hi-cap mags. For gear, get yourself some good, properly rated eye protection, EN166B (B is the minimum), ANSI Z87.1 or Z87+, or MIL-PRF-32432 ballistic rated. I use Valken tangos (£25) with a thermal lens (+£10), a bit bulky but excellent against fogging. If you also get yourself some revision anti-fog wipes (about £12 for 3, they last multiple wipes and you only need to wipe twice per day), You just won't fog, they are actual magic. I'd also recommend some lower face protection, the One Tigris half mesh masks are excellent, as well as some boots with good ankle support, especially if you're playing at a woodland site. For mag carrying, just use a hoodie and pockets if you're on a tight budget. If you have another £30 to spare, a Kombat trojan chest rig will cover your every need for now, there's also many other chest rigs about for a similar price, I can only recommend what I've used.1 point -

WW2 airsoft for dummies
Mr All the gear no idea reacted to Chock for a topic
Whilst that is generally true, later in the war (i.e. after 1943) the MP-40 was actually issued more widely to regular troops. That was a direct response to encountering the Russian army using sub machine guns in larger numbers than most other WW2 forces. Ironically enough, this led the Germans to develop the StG44, which the Russians then used as the inspiration for the AK47 after WW2. However, in spite of the German's desire to hand out the MP40 in larger numbers, unlike the PPSh41 and 43, of which over eight million were produced, the MP40 wasn't produced in the truly massive numbers necessary to make that possible (i.e. only a fraction over a million units according to most records), so whilst it is true that there weren't enough of them to hand over to everyone in the Wehrmacht, the Germans did actually want to do that, particularly in light of their experience against the Russians, who of course had the Germans retreating because of that much better weight of firepower. Thus the Germans did so as much as they could, and there are certainly quite a few instances where entire units were equipped with the MP40 in the closing stages of the war, it's just that it was not the norm for most army units. If you want a truly ridiculous example of MP40 usage however, nothing beats Mary Ure, Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood's MP40s in Where Eagles Dare, which aside from appearing to be loaded with armour-piercing incendiary ammunition, judging by the amount of damage they can do, also seem to be fitted with special high capacity magazines capable of holding hundreds of rounds.1 point
