I don't think I've ever promoted it here for various reasons, but it got to a point some time ago that I'd been a customer of Roman for so long and purchased so much that we worked together on a variant of the G3s he makes done to my design spec. I make something like 2-3 euros in what amounts to store credit if someone orders an item in the 'F9' cut from him. If anyone's interested feel free to DM me I won't clog this thread with self promo. Before that partnership became a thing though, I would get people messaging me on social media fairly often with questions about his stuff, so to answer the FAQs I put together a video. The jist of the video is, essentially, you need to be *mega* specific if you want to order anything from his business. This doesn't just apply to him though, there are people all over the world that make custom gear to order and it's a process I've been through many, many times over the past decade and the very first time doing it I learned just how specific you need to be if you actually want to get what you're picturing in your mind when placing an order. I think to the average person who lives a normal life and hence doesn't have an intimate knowledge of the production of military type uniforms and other tac gear they'd probably find the level of detail needed quite OTT. I make no excuses for his customer service, it's lacking... end of. His stuff is 'less' custom than what is offered by some businesses in that it fellows a template, but it is custom made tactical equipment none-the-less and the same rules apply to his uniforms as to any custom sew business; they can't read your mind and it's basically impossible to exaggerate just how easily things get lost in translation. Not addressing this specific situation now just trying to help people avoid the same fate in future. To illustrate the point, I've collaboratively designed my own piece of kit for commercial sale being made by a company in the US this year and as incredibly simple as this thing is (and looks), it took hours worth of phone calls and dozens of e-mails back and forth adding up to many pages of descriptive text and other media after already drawing up dimensioned schematics, just to get 1 simple little item to be manufactured in the correct way I wanted. So on top of what I mentioned in the linked video, if you want to order from Roman the key is to make zero assumptions and when you think you're making none at all, make a few less. If you want buying kit to just involve checking out through the cart, don't try to get things custom, you'll end up dissatisfied; sorry if that's an unpalatable reality check for anyone reading. Ideally, supply him with the fabric yourself (he has a UK address you can just send it to) for the very best end result in terms of getting exactly what you want and what you've imagined. Or ask him for details and pictures of the materials he has to hand for the camo/s you're interested in. Anyone is welcome to @ me here or DM me on this topic any time. In the event you like the platform I have a facebook group setup that's for discussion of topics just like this and is aimed at spreading info; I generally ask that folks ask me questions in there rather than DMs if at all possible so that the answers are public rather than hidden to the world - https://www.facebook.com/groups/16099084624231465 points

Why do you want to change anything? have you used the gun? if so have you chrono'd it have you set the hop for the bbs you want to use? have you check the range(if you are getting 50ms you'll be putting in a lot of effort for not massive returns) other than give the barrel a clean unless you have specific goals in mind just leave it alone, especially if you only have one gun you really don't want to start upgrading a gun unless you have a back up.3 points

They are a novelty gun for sure but quite fun, so fun that at one point in time i had 2. Downsides: - Only one of the 3 barrel has hop applied vertically. After mine broke I sent it for repairs and whilst it was in, had the hop modded so all 3 barrels have vertical hop and a heavier spring in there to take it to whatever 250fps with .2g is to 1j. After that, I used .28s - As above, I can't honestly claim them to be reliable guns. Mine has broken twice, each instance a gearbox jam. The first occasion was caused by bb's getting jammed, the second occasion I don't know...as I haven't gotten it fixed yet! - I didn't have a great experience with the drum mag, it would fail to feed too often and sapped the fun o meter. I used it maybe twice and then switched to carrying (lots) of standard mags, which hold 90 or so bbs which, quick maths, gives you 30 shots which is far from ideal. gbbr people can say what they want but i haven't heard anyone using "realcaps" in a "normal" aeg in well over a decade - I should note that at the time i was using blaster bb's or whatever, I don;t use them anymore for other reasons but this contributed to me becoming a bit of a geoffs fundamentalist - the rear sling mount is a real weak point. look for a "full stock sling adapter" if you want to sling3 points -

Further complicated by going through several layers of wholesale, first to put together whole containers in the Orient, then split and distribute them in the EU or the UK. From what I've seen, it seems that even the biggest UK sellers - PatrolBase - are getting much of their stock wholesale from the EU, rather than importing directly into the UK. Exceptions may exist, like that lorry carrying a load of Specna Arms toys that got robbed out: I don't know whether it was filled at Dover or Gdańsk. The bit that really amazes me is that retail prices have stayed as low as they have. If I were a UK retailer, with stock, in the current climate, I'd be very tempted to bump prices to the moon.3 points

Omega nubs are shaped to match the curvature of the barrel and BB, so in principle apply pressure in a more helpful way. While I'm a big fan of Maple Leaf rubbers, I'm not personally so convinced about the nubs (although I am currently running some). Contrary opinions are available. All V2 gearboxed M4s use long shaft motors. PatrolBase reckon you've got a 210mm inner barrel, so I agree that you're either looking at 200mm, or a longer barrel hidden inside a suppressor. You can cut barrels down to exact sizes, but it's generally advised to re-crown them (put a conical lip in the end) - whether this actually makes much difference is another of those airsoft tenets of faith.3 points

I ran .25s in mine (it will hop .28s but it's a support gun so why wasn't money on heavy BBs?), it takes AAAs to run the mag 4 I think( they will last more than a game day). It has 3 individual hops, it can be accurate to 40ish metres, it can lob over 50 metres just don't expect to hit what you are aiming for. Down sides it's complex and the gearbox casing is a weak point so don't abuse it( parts are almost impossible to get unless you speak Japanese. unless they hurry up and release the Chinese clone), do not run anything over a 7.4v lipo battery, the drum is well built and reliable but it's not auto wind so you need to remember to hit the wind button after long bursts (unless you fancy some electronics work). After all that yes they are really fun and I regret selling mine.3 points

@GoodeyAirsoft The nub is used to apply pressure onto the bucking (backspin), for barrel length grab the closest to the stock length, I think the stock is 215mm, ZCI do a 200mm and 229mm, depends on how much length you have. I used to love the ZCI HT motors but they never improved the design, must have asked them a dozen times to stop using the tab design and shim a little better but they never did. It's why I moved to stocking the XT motor range and back to the SHS HT motor.3 points

Another victim of the airsoft curse of buying everything that you'd need to skirmish with a gnu up front, then as soon as the unboxing hit has worn off, realising that you never will. I'd assume that having test shot it, he's just realised that. Probably bought the "300fps" lie and now thinks he can sell it in to another mug. Although I think my favourite part is disclosing that the retailer has already refused a return, so you can be absolutely guaranteed that you have no possible comeback if it turns out to be a complete lemon.2 points

200mm is sufficient for airsoft, you really don't need much barrel length to get up to UK power limits. I've seen 0.95J out of a 110mm x 6.01mm and an oops! 1.3J out of a 229mm x 6.02mm, both with M100 springs. Switching from a stock 210/215 to a tighter 200mm shouldn't effect your power much either way. I wouldn't recommend cutting barrels down, just noting that it's an option if you want to get every last mm of length out of it. There's no particular need or benefit though. I'd recommend the Big Dragon M140 from AliExpress, because I chisel every penny. They're really surprisingly decent for the price, with magnets that could pull a satellite out of orbit, although I've never sprung for anything brand-namier to compare them against. You play in 30C heat though. I'll be playing at 3C on Sunday (if I'm lucky), which is why I'd suggest 60 for UK year round use. Although as with most of airsoft, it's really a matter of sinking in more money and finding what works best for your gun at your site at your latitude, depending which direction the wind is blowing.2 points -
It doesn't need to be square but TM OEM ones are. Options are if it's leaking from the base plate is to soak the rubber in silicon oil it should swell up to give you a seal. If that doesn't work Google Tokyo Marui/WE Glock rebuild kit. If that don't work your mag casing maybe warped and it maybe case of Ptf tape or worst case it's beyond repair. The other thing to think about is a rebuild kit is 10 to 14 quid that will give you enough seals to fix multiple mags or a TM mag can be got new for £25 WE for £22.2 points

If you've got to stick to 350 FPS on 0.20g BBs be wary of going too long and too tight. If your M904G is behaving as expected and has a UK spec spring then out of the box it should be around 345 FPS so longer and tighter could take you consistently over 350 FPS and your gun being too hot ? I've not bothered with the barrel on mine, but I've changed a few other parts, as it's more than accurate enough for an up to 350 FPS AEG.1 point -

Tbh I found last night's game at Driverwood to be a mixed bag. While the safezone and facilities were excellent (proper flushing toilets, lights and power sockets), and the game area was well set up with plenty of variety in the way of cover and buildings. The lighting and smoke machines were a nice touch too On the downside I found the hit taking to be questionable and the answer to my question about pyro rules was basically don't bother, nobody takes any notice them. Well if that's the case then surely it's down to the staff to deal with it, rather than just moan about it and it gave me the impression they didn’t really care. The last thing I didn't like was the sound system playing what sounded like the soundtrack to a cheap fairground ghost train. Whilst this might be good for zombie or halloween events I found it to more of an irritation. Overall I don't think I'll be going back soon1 point -
Tabs as in these? Yes, still got those. They're not magical quality, I did have to take one apart (bending and then re-squishing the tabs) to pop another shim under the shaft, there was just too much inny-outy play for my comfort. Decent enough in use for the money though, a big step up from any stock motor I've had. Could be (potentially) worse. I have a Tornado where the screws on either side go into a common collar inside the shell. Metal screws going into a common metal collar. The only thing that stops it shorting out are micron-thin non-conductive washers under the screws, to keep them isolated from the plates. If you lose or damage them and don't realise that they're vital while (for example) adding a diode, it will happily short out. That was a lesson hard learned.1 point

Coonen Watts and Stone source about 95% of UK issue kit from China, so decent cloth isn't a problem, and even the cheapest Kombat UK stuff gets the colour shades right (and that's just generic Chinese cheapies with a label specified in the UK). If S95 or whatever is specified there's material around. As for Russian Kukla DPM, that's made in more than one shade in three or four different versions. At least one is very close to a UK pattern. Drum mags are for speedsofters and therefore, shit. Embrace the low ammo count.1 point -
Was my order that obvious ? I'm thinking the piston head with a bearing, as the DE M90X's spring guide has a bearing as well, will probably compress the spring a bit more and with a better air seal take me over 350 FPS. We'll know in a few days...1 point
-
Let me know how that Gearparts M105 spring works out for you, plus any problems. I've not opened one of the new DE yet, will get hold of one soon though.1 point
-
I thought I'd add a bit of info here about my M904E that others may find useful, as all DE M90X's are the same inside, and some work I'll be doing on it in the coming week or so. I've had my M904E for around six months, played six full days with it, and shot 15k to 18k of 0.25g BB's (I take well placed shots, but also enjoy playing a "support" role, so can get through them) all of which are having an effect on it. First of all the stock spring compressed, dropping 15 or so FPS, and replacing that got things back to how it was out of the box at around 345 FPS on 0.20g. However, my heavy use is now taking another toll, in that the gun is now down by another 15 or so FPS. I'm assuming the air seal is dropping off after heavy use, so I'll be cracking open my first ever gearbox (which I'm getting excited about). I've just bought various parts from AK2M4 as well as I thought I may as well swap out a few things, XT 14 tooth piston (CNC rack) + XT cylinder head + nozzles and a few other bits and bobs (plus a slightly weaker spring as I may possibly run hot after this). I'm still 100% of the opinion that DE M90X's are great guns for the money, my son has Santa dropping him off one, however I'm starting to see where potentially their cheaper parts / bill of materials / build is having an effect?1 point
