Another decent session at Hell's last night. My first solo game. Ran the Hi Capa for all but the last game. I think my bucking is about broken in now. I had to apply full hop at Gaol to make 0.28's go anywhere and 0.25's were just starting to over hop at Hell's. So next job is to re-fit the I key!2 points

I cheated and went for an AVL 500, which has a better (but not great) oil pump and some of the iron barrel issues sorted. Amal, of course, and bin off the comically constricted stock exhaust. The exhaust valve is getting a bit cooked, but I've not even bothered sorting it, I'll probably replace it when it burns through and drops. The electric foot is a trap, the fragile sprag clutch will grenade itself on any kick-back: mine's on it's third in under 12,000 miles. Not really a problem though, it always starts reliably on the first kick, about 60% of the time. Indian made Enfields from the AVL onwards are like AEPs: heavy, under-powered, some peculiar engineering, they shouldn't really work, but it turns out that they're surprising reliable all year round. Hah, back on topic.2 points -

in case it wasn't clear from everyone else, tinkering straight away isn't the greatest idea, especially when you don't have a reliable backup. don't get me wrong, tinkering on pews can be enjoyable and rewarding for those so inclined, and i do recommend people learn it themselves because in the long run it's great being able to sort issues yourself, buy secondhand with confidence etc, but the time and place to dive into it is not when you only have one pew, no experience and nothing to fall back on should it not work out. as someone who didn't take that advice and jumped straight in trust me the walk of shame when your latest experiment has resulted in a gun that doesn't shoot, or shoots so badly it's unplayable gets very old very quickly. ^ is definitely a better avenue for you to look at spending your money/effort on, you can include things like slings, maybe a red dot (unless you prefer iron sights, that's fine too), magazines (eg midcaps+a decent speedloader if you don't like winding hicaps). once you've got setup and are comfortable you can try grabbing a cheap secondhand gun and have a crack at tinkering with it, safe in the knowledge that your main gun is going to still serve you well when needed.2 points -

Hi all, So have found my way to Airsoft through several other passions. I Like having fun, keeping fit, modifying mechanical stuff, making things work better and creating things. So, I have several Sig air guns MCX, MPX, X5, 1911, P326 and love accuracy shooting and practical exercises (fire from different guns, in different stance, in different spots and timing it. But that's only so much fun as what's the next logical step. Paintball is expensive and I am a massive fan of realism of the kit and anything tactical. I am almost done on a polishing and repaint of a SRC Baba Yaga 5.1. I have also just purchased a g&g Armament CM 16 Wild Hog 13.5". I'm up grading pretty much all the internals and only a few left to arrive. Got tons setup options, scopes etc. Will be doing a Lone Survivor style paint job with the OBNO icon somewhere on the body that will be added before the last coat of lacquer. Hope I'll be able to contribute. Cheers OBNO Chris1 point

Ordered this a couple of weeks ago. Big thanks to those who commented on my 'will this be suitable for AK mags' post. It easily takes two AK mags per pouch, with a weird divider in front of them that lies flat, but may accept an M4 mag. With smaller mags the flaps close further. There are two male studs per female stud that are mounted one above the other. There is also enough velcro to make the studs a bit superfluous tbh. The thing takes eight AK mags in total, which in real terms is about five over what you need, but it's semi-precision dressing up init. The mag sections are easy big enough for bag of BBs, speedloader and bottle of water, so the square side poaches won't get used. I may even glue them flat from the inside with weak water based glue. The space under the chest opening is cavernous if you are a sheet of cardboard. Might be useful for a section of old roll mat for sitting on. The quality is pretty good, no loose threads or weak looking corners, although the stitching is only single row with reinforced stress points, so I wouldn't fancy being carried/dragged by it. The buckles could grip the straps better but that's 90% of kit with polyester straps. Shoulder straps are not too generous, it may ride a bit high if you are built like a gorilla. I'll adjust it to my liking and tape the straps into place. The green one is similar in shade to a new British lightweight shirt, but shinier obvs. For less than £20 it's a decent enough ANA replica that's about a fifth of the price. It won't impress stitch counters but this is an annual couple of milsims, not reenactment. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/304117709117?var=6032401245441 point -

You are correct, LCT have never produced their own optics yet. However they did have have an advert back in 2016 which showed LCT AKs with a number of accessories, which of course, lead to speculation that LCT may produce their own. Here is a page with said advert https://popularairsoft.com/news/all-lct-airsoft-ak-parts-accessories1 point

If an overseas company is required to register with companies house for UK trading then the application fee is £20 If they are only required to register for VAT then the application is free, but starts with a 14 page form so you have at least the administration time to fill that in, need all the records to hand on your turnover etc. You are then required to maintain UK VAT accounting and subsequently submit periodic records to HMRC in an approved electronic format - that means accounting software including VAT handling and usually a subscription cost each month. If they are running an online store then they are likely to be running accounting software. But it’s not absolutely certain - they could be running their accounting in many ways If they are getting decent sales then they will be required to be VAT registered domestically anyway. If not then they have to keep an eye on their accounting for when it gets triggered A UK business is required to register for VAT if their taxable turnover is over £85000 in 12 months (The last 12 months). That’s actually not a lot of business, I sell some things in a ‘collective’ shop. If it was a standalone business then they would have had to be VAT registered long ago, as it is owned/operated by 2 sole traders, has approx 50 sellers, they account for every trader individually and run their holding accounts for traders money they (currently) don’t need to register for VAT. The historic 12 month threshold would have made the business itself close to registration - if not for lockdown closures then even with their seperate statuses then one or the other partner would be heading to the threshold at different times When you’re doing that sort of trade the accountancy software subscription is just another overhead - not to forget an accountant An overseas trader doesn’t have a trading threshold. Just one sale to the UK under £135 and they are on the radar needing to register with HMRC, maintain electronic accounts, fully document and declare packages, retrospectively pay HMRC etc Refuse to sell to the UK or only over £135 and they may ‘lose’ a sale but don’t gain high levels of administration to a different countries tax office Do they really ‘lose’ a sale or just don’t get an ‘extra’ sale?1 point

That's actually a very sensible suggestion which I avoided suggesting because it's too sensible for what's essentially a very silly hobby.1 point

tinkers gotta tinkle ? Play with it, buy a 2nd tickle your heart away. If you do feel the urge try some different buckings. Prom ain't bad, it's a good standard design. Maple Leaf also do some pretty good ones. Experiment with those, give the barrel a nice clean, polish it if you really want to.1 point

@steverebo mate, in more than twenty years I've never had to "upgrade" a new gun straight away, some I've used for years without having to touch them, my oldest gun has been running perfectly for approx 18 years ffs, not even serviced as such. IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT just play & enjoy it....... Simples1 point
-
Mate without intending to be harsh but you know jack shit about Airsofting and your planning to rip your new gun apart (that you haven’t even used yet !) because you’ve seen some YouTube vid’s ?? Chill out , take a breath , go to your 1ST skirmish day use it then repeat this process multiple time THEN start thinking “do I need to upgrade XYZ in it or not ?” ? Belive me you’ll enjoy the sport a lot more if you learn to walk before even think about running .? ??1 point
-
Oh no, why do you want to fiddle with a perfectly good purchase straight away? ? After all that, assuming it actually works, how will you even know if you've improved it or not? ? If you really want advice then just clean the barrel as our Stew said and enjoy it. Its good out of the box unless you got a lemon. Think about upgrading if something goes wrong or definitely needs improving after using it and getting to know the sport. ...and really appreciate your wife ?1 point

CYMA CM048m - Patrol Base
Nick G reacted to Ebeneezer Goode for a topic
Wot 'ee sez, guvna. Skirmish it a couple of times to get a feel for it before ripping it apart and tinkering. Most CYMA AKs in that range are superb as standard, apart from cleaning the barrel you shouldn't have to do anything IMO.1 point -
I don't think I've ever promoted it here for various reasons, but it got to a point some time ago that I'd been a customer of Roman for so long and purchased so much that we worked together on a variant of the G3s he makes done to my design spec. I make something like 2-3 euros in what amounts to store credit if someone orders an item in the 'F9' cut from him. If anyone's interested feel free to DM me I won't clog this thread with self promo. Before that partnership became a thing though, I would get people messaging me on social media fairly often with questions about his stuff, so to answer the FAQs I put together a video. The jist of the video is, essentially, you need to be *mega* specific if you want to order anything from his business. This doesn't just apply to him though, there are people all over the world that make custom gear to order and it's a process I've been through many, many times over the past decade and the very first time doing it I learned just how specific you need to be if you actually want to get what you're picturing in your mind when placing an order. I think to the average person who lives a normal life and hence doesn't have an intimate knowledge of the production of military type uniforms and other tac gear they'd probably find the level of detail needed quite OTT. I make no excuses for his customer service, it's lacking... end of. His stuff is 'less' custom than what is offered by some businesses in that it fellows a template, but it is custom made tactical equipment none-the-less and the same rules apply to his uniforms as to any custom sew business; they can't read your mind and it's basically impossible to exaggerate just how easily things get lost in translation. Not addressing this specific situation now just trying to help people avoid the same fate in future. To illustrate the point, I've collaboratively designed my own piece of kit for commercial sale being made by a company in the US this year and as incredibly simple as this thing is (and looks), it took hours worth of phone calls and dozens of e-mails back and forth adding up to many pages of descriptive text and other media after already drawing up dimensioned schematics, just to get 1 simple little item to be manufactured in the correct way I wanted. So on top of what I mentioned in the linked video, if you want to order from Roman the key is to make zero assumptions and when you think you're making none at all, make a few less. If you want buying kit to just involve checking out through the cart, don't try to get things custom, you'll end up dissatisfied; sorry if that's an unpalatable reality check for anyone reading. Ideally, supply him with the fabric yourself (he has a UK address you can just send it to) for the very best end result in terms of getting exactly what you want and what you've imagined. Or ask him for details and pictures of the materials he has to hand for the camo/s you're interested in. Anyone is welcome to @ me here or DM me on this topic any time. In the event you like the platform I have a facebook group setup that's for discussion of topics just like this and is aimed at spreading info; I generally ask that folks ask me questions in there rather than DMs if at all possible so that the answers are public rather than hidden to the world - https://www.facebook.com/groups/16099084624231461 point
