I generally only use single shot anyway, & have played a few game days where only single shot was allowed, & I gotta say it rocked, made people think about their gameplay, didn't stop some from spamming their trigger though, but still way way better than the usual hose fest. Thing is, most players do almost everything to emulate what they believe to be a combat scenario, from load outs & webbing etc, & then some feel the need to turn their gats in to hypersonic sewing machines ffs, & any modicum of realism is blown out of the window. I consider what we do to be a sport, in some form anyway, but in other recognised sports there's generally an expectation or requirement of a reasonably level playing field, you'd never get away with such extreme modifications to your playing kit. I'd like to see gamedays catering for specific setups OCCASIONALLY, a day where run wot ya brung high speed setups with box mags are OK, or single shot days, or gas only days etc etc, maybe one gameday in three ?, & the rest of the time I'd expect a fairly "normal" set of rules to govern what's acceptable ?

Today was my first ever game of airsoft, it is safe to say I’m hooked. already looking to book again between Christmas and new year at the same site (Bristol Airsoft). It’s a shame the site is closing soon tho but hopefully be able to get my UKARA before it does. Need to make sure I take gloves with me next time as my left hand (my lead hand) got shot so many times. Also eventually I would like a torch for the dark sections and a tracer unit but no rush as want to get used to my gun before buying attachments.

My local site is pretty dense woodland has a 25rps limit. I think it's very fair, and kind of frightening to be on the end of. If you can't hit someone with 25rps, you may need to see a doctor for your Parkinson's

What a way to round out the year. I donned the tinsel ghillie once again and went around sniping people with the HPA VSR. Had some really heart-pounding adrenaline fuelled moments of people walking right past me and me lying completely still and hoping they don't spot the shiny tinsel, which they surprisingly didn't! I was really enjoying my invisibility and got some really nice shots as the VSR was firing amazingly well and there was very little wind. Games were pretty close too, with one team winning a narrow victory in the morning, then our team came back strong in the afternoon. Took my newly repaired mk23 out too, since the return spring pinged out at AI500 when it fell out of the holster and it performed like a dream with a new one in. So happy to use it while I heard GBBs really struggling with the temperature, and it's a lot more silent than the mp7 aep (though the mp7 does have a fun switch!). Downside is the lended out my m21 to a friend and it jammed, so I'm going to need to sort that. Wasn't his fault, it's a thing that happens sometimes and I think I'm going to need to tape some card just under the back of the hop unit, as there's a little gap that sometimes BBs roll backwards into in between the nozzle returning to position if you're firing uphill, jamming the nozzle and therefore jamming the HPA engine open so it vents loads of air. I'll do that at some point over the next two weeks...

A 7.4v LiPo battery delivers the equivalent power to an 8.4v NiCd but in a smaller package. Does it show the specs?

Ordered this a couple of weeks ago. Big thanks to those who commented on my 'will this be suitable for AK mags' post. It easily takes two AK mags per pouch, with a weird divider in front of them that lies flat, but may accept an M4 mag. With smaller mags the flaps close further. There are two male studs per female stud that are mounted one above the other. There is also enough velcro to make the studs a bit superfluous tbh. The thing takes eight AK mags in total, which in real terms is about five over what you need, but it's semi-precision dressing up init. The mag sections are easy big enough for bag of BBs, speedloader and bottle of water, so the square side poaches won't get used. I may even glue them flat from the inside with weak water based glue. The space under the chest opening is cavernous if you are a sheet of cardboard. Might be useful for a section of old roll mat for sitting on. The quality is pretty good, no loose threads or weak looking corners, although the stitching is only single row with reinforced stress points, so I wouldn't fancy being carried/dragged by it. The buckles could grip the straps better but that's 90% of kit with polyester straps. Shoulder straps are not too generous, it may ride a bit high if you are built like a gorilla. I'll adjust it to my liking and tape the straps into place. The green one is similar in shade to a new British lightweight shirt, but shinier obvs. For less than £20 it's a decent enough ANA replica that's about a fifth of the price. Hi folks Having had our last game of the year today, there was a good turn out of first time players using site rental guns (JG G36’s if it matters) There was the usual mixture of folks using aeg’s, snipers and some HPA players. now normally I’m a live & let live attitude kinda guy, but I did see a few of the new player heads go down after lunchtime in the last few games, had a quick chat with them and they commented on the significant difference between the site guns and some of the regulars aeg’s V the hpa players The hpa guns were easily having a ROF of circa 35-40 a second, and in the game areas where full auto was allowed due to engagement rules, they were simply suppressing the new players with their ROF & slightly aggressive play style. The site doesn’t (yet) have a ROF cap, but that may start next year I have to add , this is an outdoor woodland site, NOT an urban or CQB / indoor 1: is it fair to cap hpa players play style / ROF ? 2: What’s an acceptable ROF to allow “fair game play”? Hey everyone Just dropping a post in here to say hello! Started Airsofting many moons ago was pretty active on the ASCUK boards back in the day. Then I got married and ended up drifting away from the sport for a while (10 years!) My kit has been gathering dust up in the loft for all those years. Recently a friend of mine has got the bug pretty bad, as a result I'm now fully back involved. Used to do a bit of teching back in the day a lot has changed but a lot hasn't just recently finished bringing my old M4 back from the dead (one of the reasons I stopped) now she purrs like a kitten with all new internals and a shiny new Titan MOSFET (what a great bit of kit they are!) Looking forward to getting stuck right back in again. I forgot just how much I love this sport. Great way to keep fit as well the 10 years off haven't been kind to my physique! Running round like a nutter in the woods will make short work of that I have no doubt! Anyway it's good to be back look forward to seeing some of you on the field!

The worst thing is I already had some gloves but left them at home like an idiot. Oh I swore too, no kids today so was okay but the Marshall did laugh then said sorry for laughing. He said it’s the quickest way to learn to remember your gloves.

I've just come back from a game where there were a few HPA gunners. I think they were all running mid cap mags so no real problem with the total amount of BB's flying around but it's noticeable there's some (good natured) chuntering in the ranks if/when they all end up on one team because it instantly throws out any balance. And judging by the line of bee stings running up my thigh from a burst I took at 10+ metres, I don't think the regulators are left untouched after the chrono in the morning. That did piss me off

Yeah, same. It lets me go off and be annoying, picking people off at range and then repositioning to leave them questioning if I'm still there or not. Having the whole site in play really opens up my style of gameplay. I mean... with how you were dressed up today, I'd be shocked if you appeared next to me too ?

Possibly, but it at least acts as an easing into the sport, rather than in the deep end in a confusing day of being overshot and frustrated. And I would hope someone branching out to other sites would be aware of what can be done with airsoft guns. I'm not as against it on sites that can separate walk-ons from rentals... ...but when you're shooting upwards of 8 bbs within human reaction time, you are overshooting people.

It's all part of the hobby nowadays, unless all sites are starting to put matching limits on it I don't think it makes a huge amount of difference... especially if the intent is to favour newer players. All it stands to do is give them an unrealistic idea of what's out there. Sure this site in particularly might become somewhat of a safe haven for them, but I can't see a single site maintaining folks interest for too long. It's almost like shielding the new folks from what regular game days are like, and setting expectations outside of where they probably should be for folks that might ultimately be looking to invest in a new hobby. I don't really see much of a point of sites being overly controlling over what folks use, as long as it's safe. And that's ultimately when lines should be looking at being drawn, not because a few newbies heads are dropping because they don't think their rental gnus are keeping up... because lets face it, rental gnus only just about keep up with other rental gnus. And besides, most sites struggle to wrap their heads around chronoing properly in a timely fashion let along adding RoF checking into the mix. In terms of actual advice, I wouldn't dick about making any site rules around it. Just take it up with individuals if you feel they've got something excessive going on. Most RIFs running a high RoF have a way of adjusting it fairly easily, be that an FCU for HPA or a MOSFET in an AEG. If they refuse then it's up to the site owners how they wish to proceed.

I’m happy running my stock TM Ak recoil (clunky & noisy thing) with 80 rnd mags and my gbbr with 40 rnd mags Neither of which get to the mid teens with their ROF Going to discuss further with Marshall’s & Site Owner in the new year But a quick chat about it in the afternoon there was nodding heads with circa 20 rps being fast enough A site not to far from us is running Semi Auto Sundays, I like the sound of that! Like all sports it’s evolving to the most exaggerated version. as an ex hpa user there’s no doubt that if you value low gearbox stress high rof, with near silence over 10m semi auto then nothing comes close. if you just value hosing/winning then Hpa is for you. i sold my hpa rig as truth be known it’s more fun using low cap gbb’S and noisy rattle ngrs. when I found myself grabbing my cyma galil over my hpa I knew I was done with it. i’d ban them now as I don’t think they help the sport and tend to bring out the worst in players

What a great end to the year! The long format morning and afternoon games were very fun. I enjoy those pure objective game modes a lot when you have the whole site and you get little squads forming and setting out to do something towards the objective. Maybe it's not direct, but it might be disrupting the spawn or just holding a certain area. I especially enjoyed the absolute torrent of red smoke (incendiary) in one of the last games for a 4 minute base capture ? I had people shocked, as if I'd suddenly appeared, whilst wearing a big red cape ?

As a fellow grumpy old cnut, I'd be happy if gats were kept stock rof, or even better would be that they matched their real steel counterparts. I cringe when I'm on site & I hear gats running at a ridiculous rof, & usually take an instant personal dislike to their small dicked owners ?

Its not a great battery but good enough for at least half a game day (maybe a whole one) with medium amount of shooting (not auto all the time).

Now, I'd never make fun of anything that anyone buys, considering my completely pish loadout which consists of a mighty Unreal Tournament 2004 Redeemer-esque slayer of a UAR, an awe-inducing plastic fantastic Lancer Tactical M4 and an utter death machine of a 20 quid Chinesium 1911 springer. Add in some thoroughly geeky and naff fake sci fi foam armour, and I'm less Master Chief, more Disaster Chief. However... before purchasing my awesomely unimpressive gear I did my research thoroughly, so knew what to expect and made my choices deliberately within my budget. And I'm happy with my choices. Quite amazing how many folk jump into things, not just airsoft, blindly spaffing wads of dough like Rishi Sunak on a bender without having the faintest scooby doo about what their riches are going towards. Their choice I suppose. Wow, new or used? Not a hi capa fan but thats mental money. Think Airsofts going to resemble Mad Max soon, folk turning up at skirms bartering over gnus and having duels to decide who gets what ?

Only airsofters could derail a topic so much. Anyway my second car was an 82 trans am it had character. it however was a steaming pile of shit. My current work 1ltr civic is faster and much more fun to drive. Still miss my Pontiac. Oh and the dream is to eventual build an electric 68 dodge charger that is stupidly quick. So I rocked the Tigerstripe at the weekend. Thus was a posed photo taken by a marshal in an area just off the safe zone. Mag empty, no battery in the gun. Quick question, how do people stop these kind of kneepads destroying the backs of their knees?

Stupid move by the retailer, honestly takes no time at all to contact the buyer and explain the issue. Any reason for not just using some SHS or Rocket 16:1 gears? They are generally pretty solid and half the price.

I'd send them back and the retailer would cover all costs. Bloody cheeky of them.

Was a joint birthday/Christmas/Easter present from the parents , my mum even had to sell her body to help raise the money(no not that way bunch of perverts) for medical research , it was so kind of her do it but I never did get used to her with green skin and a third eye in the middle of her forehead ! ?
