  2. UCAP have been against 2 tones since they were an idea, the reasoning is that the defence against the VCRA was that airsoft needed RIFs to aid in the suspension of disbelief when re-enacting military/LE scenarios and IFs undermine that concept. I say vote with your wallet and go wherever works for you, it's not like there's no alternative nowadays.

  8. Looks like this EBB variant, which is, surprise surprise, out of stock. I've come round to accepting that the prices of things that aren't in stock just aren't that meaningful, because it's not like we're just waiting a few days or weeks for a restock. To be clear, I think he's a dreamer, especially for not listing any details. But there's no right or wrong price for it, just optimistic ones.

  9. Way back when the VCR kicked in the very same small group of retailers who really pushed for the UKARA scheme to be the only way to be able to buy RIF’s , which would basically allow them to control the market(allegedly of course) once it was in place THEN turned around and created Two-tones to circumvent the UKARA scheme so they could still sell cheap ass CAR’s (Chav Assault Rifles) to the unwashed masses ! UCAP took a stance over it and have stood by that stance and I’ve always supported them for that .

  10. binary triggers i can sort of get behind as they effectively remove semi. sure you could fire one round then release the trigger pointing at the dirt, but lets face it nobody is gonna do that making 2 rounds the de-facto minimum you're gonna be sending at a target. sure you can get a reasonably high round count with regular spamming, but however fast you can spam on a regular trigger is doubled on a binary trigger. box mags on pistols i'm not so sure on, certainly for certain themed events i get it but for regular skirmishing? can't say i agree. sure i hate em, but you just gotta accept some folks don't think that way, and i can't really see them as being particularly enabling of dickish behavior in the same way binary triggers are (as in, what can you do with an m4 mag hpa'd hicapa that you couldn't do with an hpa'd arp9?) the 2-tone thing i don't get at all, so some people are impatient and don't want to wait to get registered? what's wrong with that? again for themed events maybe, but not regular skirmishing.

  14. that was my initial feeling, but the issue is that whereas in a normal gun the COL gets lifted free when used in auto that's not happening. although i've had plenty of v3 boxes firing a lot of rounds in semi auto to suggest they shouldn't wear out that quickly. the thing i'm thinking is it's essentially half-pulling the trigger in normal use, compared to how it'd be in its normal ak role which is what the trigger/trolley/col was originally designed around. i must admit, i'm getting a lot of deja vu here. col's wearing out quicker than you'd expect (granted on the g&g it's as much due to the weird leverage it's being put through) and being just a bit finnicky on semi. fingers crossed, if not there are still some cards left to play. is an interesting solution, but it's for the g&g non mosfet version, although granted i wish it had been a thing when i was going through this

    Selling

We don't know what was in the mind of the person that wrote '"modern firearm” means any firearm other than one the appearance of which would tend to identify it as having a design and mechanism of a sort first dating from before the year 1870.' They doubtless had some distinctive feature in mind that they think only appeared in 1870 and not before then. It might very well be metal cartridges, or some other thing that they're wrong about. You can. Nothing is stopping you buying. This is an issue for sellers - they're the one committing an offence. I emphasise this because you'll have to ask them. I'd expect that it's nothing beyond erring on the side of caution, given the vagueness of the offence and interpretation. Decent rant though, 8/10, big bonus for the lack of paragraphs or periods. ?

  23. M4 mags (or similar) on pistols, yeah I get it, binary triggers are a bit "grey" as there's nothing to stop players spamming any aeg trigger, but the one I don't get is banning two-tones or clear gats, EVEN IF THEY'RE PAINTED ? I get no one likes ugly b#stard two-tones but if they're painted or cammed up then they look like everyone else's.

  24. That's a very generous offer Iceni, but hopefully I'll be able to jam all the parts in and make it work. I've got three different hammers, how could it possibly fail? I rather wish it was the MOSFET, that'd just be a warranty replacement, or swapping for a Perun, or even just reverting to the old wiring, rather than this mystery box stuff! Oh, I've got a replacement COL on order too.

  28. hmm, that's very definitely the col failing to lift the trolley. wonder is the col worn? i know i said i didn't think it had earlier but i'm starting to doubt myself on that front. looks like it's in constant engagement, usually when you fire in auto it's lifted out of engagement to stop it wearing out as quickly. other thing might be worth trying, but if you remove the auto contacts (as in physically remove them, not just isolate the wiring) and see if the extra clearance to pull the trigger back lets it trip properly?
    1 point
  29. so it's still firing bursts on semi? the mosfet should only run while it's getting continuity between the 2 signal wires, it relies on the gun to shut off. if it keeps getting signal it thinks it's just being run in auto. the paper will prevent the auto contacts from triggering, which is easy to accidentally trip when testing on the bench (the g&g v6 has the same issue, albeit with the "trigger" being mounted in a different place) so the gun isn't shutting off, one thing to check- do you have ab enabled? if you do try turning it off as that can cause some weird issues (took me years to figure out thats what the issue with mine was). the other thing, which is what you've been looking at, is that the contacts don't engage too early, in a position where the COL isn't able to trip them when it fires. do you need it semi only for DMR power? if so then one way would be to remove the connection to the auto contacts

  30. You can cutoff the vent hole by replacing the cylinder for one without the matching hole, the hole in the gearbox shell would then be redundant. Iirc you have to remove the rubber gasket as well but the rest of the blowback components you fit normally. It'd still be a weak point for a future crack though

I was wondering if these upgrades were suitable and would lead to better grouping, FPS changes and improved rapidness of the burst fire. Please give me any suggestions and changes. 33. A man sees a sign outside a farmhouse: 'Talking Dog For Sale'....He rings the bell, the owner appears and tells him the dog can be viewed in the back garden. The man sees a very nice looking Black Labrador Retriever sitting there. "Do you really talk?" He asks the dog. "Yes!" The Labrador replies. After recovering from the shock of hearing the dog talk, the man asks, "So, tell me your story!" The Labrador looks up and says, "Well, I discovered that I could talk when I was pretty young. I wanted to help the government, so I joined the Garda. "In no time at all they had me jetting from country to country, sitting in rooms with spies and world drug lords, because no one imagined that a dog would be eavesdropping. I was one of their most valuable spies for eight years, But the jetting around really tired me out, and I knew I wasn't getting any younger so I decided to settle down. I signed up for a job at Dublin airport to do some undercover security work, wandering near suspicious characters and listening in. I uncovered some incredible dealings and was awarded several medals. I got married, had a few puppies, and now I've just retired!" The man is amazed. He goes back into the house and asks the owner how much he wants for the dog. "Ten quid!" The owner says. “A tenner??But this dog is absolutely amazing! Why on earth are you selling him so cheaply?" "Because he's a lying cunt. He's never been out of the garden!"

Have to ask , why did you ‘up-grade’ the internals so soon ? Was their a problem with yours ? I had a go of one last October and I thought it was outstanding , it was untouched internally about the only thing you could say about it was it had had several thousands rd’s through it so it was well bedded in .

Yes you do, it fits in a cage. Some of the ease of access with the gun could do with improvement. There is a mod to make access to the hop adjustment. I have done this to this gun and also my wifes. It helps a lot.

  42. As above- cyma are pretty much the baseline of solid all-rounder, e&l are more expensive but have prettier externals which will rust. Either are good choices, depending on your budget and wether you like a heavy gun or a light gun. The jg's arent bad shooters with a bit of tinkering, although the term "blowback" is a bit of a stretch, whilst the system is somewhat fragile it's also relatively easily deactivated and it'll run as a regular aeg. Ran one for years as my backup/loaner gun and it was genuinely a fun little shooter that i'd often run just for the hell of it.

  45. R/AirsoftClones on Reddit Hey everyone, I hope it’s okay that I post this here, me and a few friends who love building airsoft clones of military and law enforcement weapons from around the world have started a new sub Reddit for like minded airsoft nerds to hangout, discuss clone building and show off our builds! You might ask, “what is airsoft clone building?” Well, it’s somewhat of a niche hobby that has its routes in the real steel clone building world. Where guys build near identical copies of military and law enforcement guns like the ever popular MK18 and Block II as well as other military and LEO builds like the MK12 Mod 1 and the FBI Hostage Rescue Team rifle. Now, In the real steel clone world, they are pretty strict, most builders are accurate down to the smallest parts like having the correct Bolt Carrier, sling mounts, sights, barrels, etc etc etc. This hobby in the real steel world has taken off over the last few years and as such it has also gained popularity in the Airsoft community. Now, the kind of accuracy the real steel guys aim for is obviously not exactly possible with airsoft. We don’t have access to things like keyhole marked Colt upper receivers or Colt marked 10.3” barrels. Maybe the PTW guys have HAO parts that get close, but, for regular AEG’s or GBBR’s we are limited to getting as close as we can with what’s available. so, when it comes to airsoft clones, all we ask is that you’re at least showing an obvious effort towards cloning your rifle to look like it’s real military/LE counterpart. That means a tan combat machine with a black quad rail is NOT a MK18 Mod 1. You are least would want to have a black receiver set with a Daniel Defense mk18 rail and some of the correct accessories (airsoft replicas are of course the norm as a real eotech or PEQ-15 is going to be prohibitively expensive for most airsoft builders) So, if that sounds like something you’d like to check out or possibly come post and join. We would love to have you! The subreddit is called R/AirsoftClones so just come over to Reddit and search for us! Thanks for reading and to the mods of this forum, thank you for allowing this post! I really hope I’m not stepping on anyones toes here as that’s not my intention!

Not had ukara for about 8+ years, but I rarely buy brand new gats, generally I've found that sellers don't ask for my ukara, possibly they've researched my online Airsoft related presence ?, & been satisfied I'm genuine, on the 3 occasions that I've been asked for it, I've explained why I no longer have it & pointed them to my considerable long term online Airsoft activity, on a number of forums, that's generally accepted, only on one occasion would a seller accept nothing less than ukara, not a problem, plenty more fish in the sea lol. I accept that the vcra apparently frightens some people, personally I think it's a badly thought out crock of shit, BUT in the absence of something better & not wishing to have our playing conditions worsen akin to the ridiculous rules faced by players in many other countries, I'll do my best to toe the line. What's paramount, whether your buying or selling, is common sense, something we don't always see enough of, thats the biggest threat to what we do, irrespective of whether someone presents what appears to be valid ukara details .

    Selling

I'd feel safer selling to someone who could provide professional indemnity or third party liability cover for a film or theatrical company. That's a bold assumption. I'm struggling to find case law on the VCRA and sellings RIFs, but one interesting and not entirely unrelated piece of case law is Cooke vs DPP in which a chap was appealing his conviction for selling "[a] considerable quantity of police caps, helmets, badges and bags" contrary to the Police Act 1996, section 90 https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1996/16/section/90 https://www.bailii.org/cgi-bin/format.cgi?doc=/ew/cases/EWHC/Admin/2015/3312.html Conviction overturned, because "lawful purpose" could be as broad as "theatrical, film or TV performance by actors (amateur and professional) in the role of a police officer; wearing at fancy dress parties and similar events; collection and display in a museum; private collection for personal enjoyment". Now, that doesn't apply to us directly, our defences are more narrowly defined. But the standard of proof isn't, and in a criminal case you only have to adduce reasonable doubt. It's clear that their Lordships were minded to be generous in allowing defences. Further, UKARA gives some evidence of what you have done. It says nothing about what you intend to do in the future, which is the standard of the S37 defence. We've got a Home Office circular from some unnamed civil servant saying that they think a scheme like UKARA is sufficient, but it's not in the legislation itself and a court wouldn't be bound by that opinion. Tl;dr version, if someone could show me that they'd played airsoft and were intending to play it again (booking would be best) then I'd be happy selling. A current UKARA number would be a bonus, but having one only shows that you played within the last year - it could have been 364 days ago, which is thin gruel for showing future intent. And right now there will be loads of people with expired UKARAs who are genuinely starting to play again. All that said, this is a very valid concern, and they even ask about arrests, let alone convictions. I imagine anything with "firearm" in it would be a big red flag. I don't condemn you at all for being cautious, I'm only speaking for what I'd accept. Well, we're not committing an offence. Other than being time wasting dicks.
