  1. Site Name: RIFT The Ridge Contact details: 07751586781 Website Address: https://riftairsoft.com/ Facebook Page: RIFT Airsoft "The Ridge" Barton Le Clay | Facebook Site Address: Luton Rd, Barton-le-Clay, Bedford MK45 4LG I had put off going to airsoft recently despite having been packed ready to go for the past 4 weeks. A last minute dash to celebrate an anniversary resulted in me looking at Airsoft sites close to Dunstable for Easter Sunday. A second visit to Red 1 The School was on the cards but I did spot that RIFT Airsoft were playing The Ridge which was pretty darned close. A quick message to @Albiscuit and we got booked in. Despite doing these reviews for years, I had never visited a RIFT site, Always wanted to do COM 3 but never managed to get around to it. RIFT Airsoft have been going for years and have a knack for acquiring fairly unique sites. General consensus about the site from previous reviews: "You get a work out, but it's fun". Medium sized ex Quarry turned 4x4 Trail of which the entrance is scarily located right on the onramp to the A6 (As in you are literally about to merge onto the A6 blink and you'll miss the site entrance on the left and have to come back around from the next junction). The Ridge is a Sandy/Woodland site which has huge elevation changes around the North, North West and West sides of the site. Very steep hills which need careful footwork to navigate. Despite being promoted as a Quarry, it has lots of Bush style woodland vegetation which provides some cover and a challenge to walk through. Short/Medium/Long Engagement distances, though due to the stronger wind in the large open area long distance engagement was difficult. There are no man made structures at all. It's a pure site in that regard. The site has no permanent Airsoft event infrastructure. It is all brought in from outside in a van for the day. Good: USP: Not many sites like this in the UK. Sandpit closed down years ago, Imperium's Quarry is quite small and the one used in Kent for the RUCKUS games is almost never used (More of a "Guest" site.) The Ridge quarry is not as good or featured as the other quarry sites, but it's open more often. There is no quarry machinery etc. Just the sand and rock left over. Very glad it exists though if you want a somewhat different game day to usual. (Roll out the desert uniform!) Safety Brief: Very much a "mall" style safety brief, long, but covered everything and it was needed due to the natural dangers the site has. Shop: Pretty good shop. A large selection of low/mid tier pistols and rifles. Gear, gas and bb's. Game Modes: More complicated then your average skirmish, with multiple objectives (The pole game was quite interesting). You need to pay attention in the game brief to make sure your team win. Even if you dominate the opposing teams spawn point, they can score points if you aren't playing for the objective. Chrono: Mandatory, nothing was tagged, but everyone's rifle was noted and FPS was ticked off on a sheet. I do prefer tagging, but this is a reasonable way of doing it. (As long as people don't switch up to a different "M4". FPS limits are 350FPS for AEG, 370FPS for LMG (With MED) 450FPS for DMR and 500 FPS for BASR. Green gas pistols were not chronoed. Average: Playing Area: It's sandy, which makes it different, but with more woodland then you expect, and the woodland is where most of the play occurred. The sandy areas were "mostly" open and flat which did not encourage people to use them as anything more then a shortcut to get to the woodland. The woodland was dense, but passible to the West and North West, North was higher foliage and passable, The South East and South was more dense and mostly impassable. All woodland sections had open clay paths. throughout. Not as many brambles as you might expect for a Quarry site, but still enough to keep you looking to avoid. Value: £30 for a quarry site is perfectly fine, despite lack of features. Clientele: Appeared to be 18+, A mixture of serious and casual players. Seemed friendly enough and stayed within their friendship groups. Had a laugh with some on the way to the safe zone. Despite a zero policy on drugs there were a couple of players hotboxing in a car in carpark at lunchtime. Turn around time: Could have been shorter, but it was quite a hot day so appreciated the rest. (The walk down to the car was pretty steep as well) Food: Pork Hot Dogs cooked on-site, No veggie/non pork option, when we asked if they had an alternative they said we needed to have contacted them before hand, but I couldn't find that information on the website. There was a fair selection of Sweets, Crisps and Drink. Hit taking: Mostly good, but with a few of the usual teflon Multiglam and casual players. Frustrating at times as they wont take their hits until they hit you. The determination to kill someone before admitting to being hit before is strong to those people. Marshalling: Mostly hands off. I didn't see them get too involved in the non hit taking aspect, but they were always within shouting distance to query the game objectives, directions and current points total. All had radios. Bad: Car Park/Entrance: Rough going. The Entrance to the site is right on the entrance to the A6. You need to go slow to catch it before you run out of On Ramp. The car park is split into two, an uphill dirt track where you park on the side of the road (I recommend parking as close to the top of this) Or a largish car park at the bottom of the track though whilst level, it means you have to haul yourself down and up the hill in-between games. Safe Zone: It's basically the Car Park and Entrance. People setup out of their cars. No cover. As mentioned, the site has no permanent infrastructure. All brought in on the day. Toilets: A single Portaloo for everyone to use. It was a hot day so I didn't dare use it. Conclusion: We liked the site, it's different. We can rock up here more often then other Quarry sites. But as much as you want it to be, it doesn't give you that "Quarry experience" It seems more like a Woodland site with large open sandy/rocky bits. Going up and down the elevated areas does sap the energy and can be dangerous, but taking it nice and slow through the dense woodland bits tends to work better and require less effort. I am sure we will return as it is really quite close to London (With a car it's a doddle as it's all Motorway/A Road). Definitely a site for the more serious and experienced player. Bullpup Watch: LOADS, 2x FAMAS, L85, L86, UAR, TAVOR etc etc. Best Guess Map:

  6. And I didn't even get to see it before he did the dirty delete. I got a notification he'd quoted me, only to find nothing This. The reason for my school holidays commitment is that every time its the school holidays the forum gets new members who think they're clever and can get round the laws around buying rifs, only to throw their toys out of the pram and dissappear when they don't get what they want. Insert Alex Baldwin joke here

Mate, toooooo long, if your gonna hit me with a comeback, it's gotta be quick, I did you literally minutes after you posted, you then saw mine, clicked the "careful now" emoji, & now, 8 hours later you come back, & your response was shit by the way ? What happened, did Miss catch you on your phone & confiscate it until after detention ?

  9. Joking aside think it’s safe to say we’ve established it’s the gun that was sold by @strykerlesas a Cheap’n’cheerful bombproof A&K , BUT some how it’s miraculously metamorphosed in to a “ G&P GR25 Magpul PTS limited edition, a unicorn of a DMR !”(his sales pitch) and now ‘worth’ near triple the price the A&K was sold at ? that’s well out of order as far as I’m concerned and if @Louisdisnt able to provide a satisfactory explanation then sanctions are needed ?

  14. So I recently opened a business wholesale account with a view to starting an airsoft shop. In the meantime however I am planning to put together an order. If people are interested in grabbing anything let me know and I can let you know if they have it and a price. A defense will be necessary as they don't do any two tone stuff. Here is a full list of the manufacturers they have available for replicas though they also do upgrades and mags and bits from other brands. JG Arthurian Airsoft Tokyo Marui King Arms GHK Classic Army Ares Golden Eagle WE ASG All the money stuff will be through paypal business.

  22. wow, that is a new level.... even the scratches match up, it's definitely the gun you sold, externally at least. doesn't even specify what make/model the scope is (or for that matter, if the scope is included) to remotely justify the price increase.... i'm not normally one to post on sales ads when they come up but i'm mighty tempted to link your ad as a PSA.

  24. If we're going to be technically correct - the best kind of correct - chronos only measure elapsed time, then calculate fps from that. Joules is just another step down the line. Let the silicon take the strain. It seems obvious, but I've yet to see it up here. Hmm, I might start laminating them and sticking them up at chrono stations, like some sort of efficiency vigilante.

This is nothing personal, but we have zero self-interest in helping you. This is a forum primarily for people who use airsoft guns for their intended purpose, the one behind the defence that we enjoy, and which could be removed on Ministerial whim at any time if RIFs are abused. The very fact that you asked here rather than on a theatrical forum suggests that your intentions are not what you claim.

    Springs

Yeah, same principle I guess. It does work quite well and testing a few springs you can make a chart of Kg vs resulting fps for a particular rifle. With enough samples from various rifles it should be possible to predict rough fps in general.

Will a ping pong firing F432 do instead ? https://youtu.be/f7ga8Du2hv8 https://youtu.be/hk8jsxdgAXo This would be a nice ‘upgrade’ to our Battle Royale tennis ball guns, however I’m not so sure about the velocity and suitability for a CQB kill house of this Carl Gustav version

(As an unrelated / slightly related matter) …… Within paintball the UKPSF (representative body for paintball) have recently gone to a barrister to review legislation as a result of recent dealings with the Home Office & Border Force As a result they have changed their position on the sale of paintball guns from a previous couple of possibilities from the Home Office and now recommend that retailers protect themselves by requiring a UKARA style defence using UKPSF player membership The authorities are paying attention to the sale of gun like things

  45. +1 on this, while I don't agree with the thieving, he got caught & suitably punished. But to somehow infer that his his subsequent MND diagnosis was in some way Karma for his previous actions, it's not Karma, its just the worst luck in the world. In my very personal experience, MND, as well as the worst forms of aggressive cancers doesn't happen to bad people, quite the opposite in fact, they seem to be the burden of the good guys, the literal salt of the earth. Anyway, back on track guys?

  47. I am not a fan of the owner, but there's a few things I consider. He did serve his time, agree with the sentence or not the whole point of our justice system is that people get punished for doing naughty things and then should rehabilitate. There's an awful lot of stolen mod kit about, most is very low level(pairs of glasses etc), he just went to the extremes and got punished for it. I understand that they went after his finances as well via the tax man. With his diagnosis, it doesn't excuse what he did etc. but considering how awful it is, I don't think he needs a rougher time of it so I'll avoid any personal comments. I actually really appreciate their stance on subjects like 2 tones, binary triggers and pistols with high cap m4 mags. They championed the opinion against 2 tones to their financial detriment. They make money off people attending their sites and by implementing that rule they have fewer players, I am sure whatever "extras" they have made from more rentals or kit sold onsite, it isn't offset by the numbers that don't attend. Their principle was that 2 tone wasn't right and they stuck by that principle and were willing to take the hit to the wallet. Whether you agree with their principle or not, I do admire the conviction(boom boom) to stick to their ideals on it. Personally, not a fan of the idea of binary triggers (no idea if I have ever come up against one, normally these things are based on whether the person who has it is a knob or not) and pistols with high cap m4 mags, it's just not for me and if a local site had that rule I would see it as a reason to attend. I don't like speedsoft, if people do that's fine but the fact there is choice in the market is a good thing. If you want to speedsoft etc then great, go to sites that do it or allow that style, if you don't, I'd like there to be somewhere to go that applies suitable rules. More choice and variation of games, styles etc to me is very welcome, even if it means there are events, sites etc that I end up not wanting to attend. BFGs, had 3 for over 6 years and frankly they have saved me over £1000 in pyro, never had one stolen and I regularly leave them to the end of the game. Maybe I have been lucky or the sites I have attended have been ultra honest. even if they did get stolen I'd still be quids in (though annoyed!). However they do get stolen, I would hazard a guess that the rule is there so marshalls can step in and prevent dead players ruining firefights to collect their bfgs, if the area isn't in contact I can't see collecting used bfgs would be an issue. Have a strict rule in writing, then you can be flexible, don't have the rule at all and it can't be enforced when needed. Just my 2 pence worth.
