The body fits pretty well, I've had to take a little bit off it in certain places where it was very tight, still making adjustments to that but the first proper mock up looks decent. The round counter sets to 95 when the mag is in as it should. Small micro swith and circuit board fits into the top of the mag well. I've yet to solder up the sensor that should count it down as rounds are fired. This fits into the front of the outer garrel inside the triangular support. I've now added the stock to the mock up and that works fine (although it wont retract fully because of the angle ally on the upper) The gun cycles but sticks on the mag occasionally, this doesn't seem to happen outside of the body so when it's apart again I need to see if something is affecting the mag position slightly. It's very much a work in progress with lots of things to solve along the way and going to be a longish project but I think the cool factor when it's done will be worth it.

A very special friend as he gave him a "hand" To stop this from being spam I'd better say my last game was at Ambush Airsoft near Cobham on the 12th and it was a great day, despite the MP5 battery dying 30 seconds into the last game. Still, I had lots of fun with the shotgun which got a few admiring looks and comments about it what it's like to be on the receiving end of it Hope it gets sorted soon. Despite what we may say in jest, your health and staying out of a forever box is more important than dicking about in the woods

  12. If you're thinking MP5K (I was going to suggest that) then take a look at the galaxy ones. I run one as a primary and the only issues I've had have been down to me being an idiot. As above regarding upgrades. Don't even think about upgrades till you've taken the gun to a game as you may find nothing needs doing or you'll spend as much as the gun for only an extra few feet of range

Ahoy and welcome back. We've seen those sites mentioned a few times, hopefully someone will chirp up. As you know, it's easy to make a new chum at airsoft: "Neat gun, mate", and you've got a friend for life.

    Pulse Rifle

As my GBBR pulse rifle build seems to be of interest to a few I thought I'd do a build thread sort of thing. Bear with me , I dont do 'tech' so the order of posts and pictures might well be a bit random ! I'm starting with a WE Thompson that I've been gifted. It's seen better days and came a cropper when an hpa experiment went very wrong, however I should be able to sort it given time. The upper reciever has cracked in a couple of places so I've ordered a replacement. Untill that arrives i've done a very rough and ready strengthening job with some scrap angle ally. Looks a bit frankenstein, but will hold the upper together for now which means I can crack on and get everything mocked up then fit the repacement when it's in pieces for final prep and paint. What I started with Snow Wolf body kit, there are lots of bits in the box ! Very basic strengthening job to hold the upper together for now. You can just see the cracks. The puls rifle outer barrel mounts via an aluminium adapter, on the aeg this also mounts onto the hop unit extension. The holes on the side of the block take M3 bolts that also secure the front brackets to the body. I plan to drill and tap the botom of the block and secure it to the handguard extension on the tommy to help support everything although it seems pretty robust just bolted to the body. In order to hold the hop unit and inner barrel into the GBBR upper I chopped the mounting lug off the spare barrel that came with the Thompson. This them mounts and secures the hop / inner in the standard fashion. If I had access to a lathe I would have shortened and turned down the outer so it would fit the mounting block in the way the aeg one does.

  18. You’re summing up is generally correct. The VCRA requires a ‘defence’ for the manufacture, sale or import of a RIF - but the offence committed under a sale would be by the seller (whether business or private) The UKARA is just a central register based on airsoft site ‘membership’ schemes, designed to protect retailers but has had processes for private sellers to request validation The border agency/customs and the police could call upon it ‘Gifting’ is an interpretation of the law - the law covers manufacture, import and sale - so can be interpreted that handing over a RIF with no remuneration is not a sale. I’m not aware of this being tested in law, but a barrister was commissioned to review legislation against paintball by the UKPSF and they were happy with the interpretation of the law for gifting (There are quite a few paintball guns that could be RIFs and there was a reliance for many years on the theory thus a paintball gun is a low power air weapon, which is a type of firearm under legislation and therefore a firearm would not be an IF nor a RIF - but that’s also not been tested in court) I try to stick to my sponsors wise words regarding both what I wave around in public and for general life As I have not yet been arrested or had my front door kicked in its worked much better than any databases (particularly as I’ve never been on a UKARA database) Silence is golden On a different tack I am aware of a very well known member of the old school paintball customisation community who built many airsoft based paintball customs long before the VCRA & UKARA were a twinkle in a politicians eye. He went through a dark period and decided to end it with suicide by cop and manufactured armed police response upon himself Had it not been for his ex also stepping in and reporting her concerns then it could have ended differently They did not choose to ignore the matter and did provide a full armed response team handling the matter very professionally The risk was still the same that they were face to face with an armed man, not knowing for certain what could be real or not

  19. @Rogerborg didn't you do a FOI request a few years back to see if border force could you the number of requests made in a single year? Did they ever respond?
    1 point
  20. Yup. Unfortunately he's a "know it all" type, telling me he's learned about airsoft "for years". He thinks UKARA is a magic ticket that allows you to own RIFs. His idiotic take about the Armed Police and their access to the UKARA database was too much for me.
    1 point
  21. You can certainly buy RIF's from private sellers and not having ukara or some other form of defence. You can buy two-tones from a shop so you don't need ukara in that case either. When someone waves any form of gun in a public space there is only one outcome usually. I mean this is the UK after all not the States you may have a better chance to survive here, lol.

  22. You are completly correct. I have a few RIFs, no UKARA atm. Doesn't matter if I have it or not though.

Welcome back! I am not local, but I play reasonably regularly at Airsoft Plantation and Tower Airsoft, both of which are in Billericay. Both are great sites that pull in a good group of players, Airsoft Plantation generally getting 150ish and Tower about 40-60. I am not playing this weekend, but am planning to try Skirmish on 12th March.

That's actually the way I ended up doing it. Glad I'm on the right track. The leak issues are not ideal pal. At least they seem like fairly easy fixes. Pretty sure I'll experience some form of that before long. Think I'll dig out some OD24 2mm o-rings, just in case! Is it silicone grease you've used or just oil? Incidentally I bought mine from Hong Kong. They were about £40 each and took about 10 days to get here. Shipping wasn't bad either, so may go back for more.

    THE TM MWS thread

@C-Diddyso for loading I pull the case all the way down so the feeder locks, I then slide it up just far enough so I can drop bbs in the gap, and fill with bbs. I then shut the mag and press the feeder release. as for leaks, had 4 now. 2 base plate seals, 1 fill valve, and on release valve. Silicone and a tightening here and there seems to solve the issues.

  30. The last piece of the puzzle now arrived. A custom made full steel accurate L7A2 barrel to finish off my steel L7A2 gpmg. Just need to get it engraved with the original Enfield markings, and to get it altered to take the original inokatsu hop unit. Now going to convert my old barrel into the newer type HK L7 barrel, and to use to replicate blank use too.

  32. The main issue with short stroking is voluming, if you've got the gun volumed correctly then as long as the piston is clearing the front of the port then you're not gonna mess up the voluming from short stroking. If you're happy with that level on a longer barrel then you aint gonna have issues with shorter. As for pickup/release, i've always tend to go predominantly from pickup. The following paragraph is me trying (and probably failing) to explain my thinking: When its being released the tappet plate is under spring tension and takes time to close, and its not ideal for accuracy to be releasing the piston before then. If you only take from the pickup side then the tappet plate will be retracting earlier (relative to the piston) but releasing at the same time (as an un-modified sector) whereas if you take from the release side then the tappet plate will be closing later relative to the piston (ie less time between tappet closing and piston closing) and could mean it doesnt have time to close fully before the air starts coming. Needless to say for a snappier build this isn't ideal. Ofc main issue with taking from just the pickup is the sector might pick up the tappet before the piston, meaning there's no braking effect from the piston to slow the sector a tad before it engages the tappet. Although with a decently pokey motor odds are it wont be slowing that much on pickup anyway.

  39. haha if you'd asked me a while back I would've agreed! I thought they looked like someone stuck one of those small hotel soap bars in the triggerguard. I think continuing to look at them a lot made them grow on me. Or it could be that the disgust/trauma from seeing it made me grow affectionate of them; kinda like Stockholm syndrome? It seems to be a recent tacticool fad but they do present some practical value as it provides a consistent trigger "press" even if the finger isn't perfectly centered on the trigger More pics to flip you as well

  40. Man that's a mean looking setup! Can I interest you in a Hackathorn-style setup with blacked out rear and fiber front sights? I personally really like the JLP front sights. Because it's so open you can see below the sight picture is even brighter than the 2mm enclosed DP one. Feels as bright as a reddot in daylight. They make a fully open (booster) and semi-enclosed (accelerator) version for the 1911, should fit the army 1911's as well. Rainbow8 has them for ~£16 (~20 with shipping) Only con with JLP is it is a bit blocky with the sharp edges that can catch on holsters and such.. I think it adds a menacing look though Patrolbase seems to have army front fiber's as well, but not sure the quality on these are; they look decent though so check them out -> https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/army-armament-1911-fiber-optic-front-sight

  41. I think the Cow Cow grip with the trigger undercut and flat trigger matches with the "tactical" look of the slide. All three options look pretty cool though Flat triggers look good on tactical 1911's as well!

  42. Any 1911 fans out there? Here's the latest build that I tried. It won't be replacing my glock for skirmishes anytime soon, but a cool build nonetheless.. Did you know people do bowling with 1911's? Apparently it's called "pin shooting" and there are specific styles of 1911's catered to that. Here's the post that inspired this build -> https://www.thearmorylife.com/bowling-with-a-pistol-a-guide-to-pin-shooting/ Wanted to get a short compensator like the real-steel examples in the article, but couldn't find any similar so I went with a 45" muzzle chamfer instead. With the looser tolerances of airsoft it doesn't look as blended to the bushing as RS, but I think I like it. I had to learn the hard way that stainless takes a lot longer than you think to grind out using hand tools...? In certain angles it makes the bore of the outer barrel look bigger than it actually is some real-steel examples that I referenced:
