  1. Appreciate it. I will give them a browse
  2. Yeah, it is a pretty hefty tome considering... One thing I would add.. if you are looking to buy a yoke (H or Y) and battle belt, just check if they are original or revision B... rev.B belts and the adapter between yoke and belt are slightly wider. If you have an original yoke and a Rev.B belt, you will need to cut the adapter panel in half to get it to fit. (Fortunately it's double sided velcro, so it's easy enough to secure the two halves inside the belt itself) Also, I found the clips on the STV to be quite brittle... I have had an STV for less than a year and when i inspected it on Sunday I found two clips with one of the teeth broken off and one of the guides for the waist adjuster straps has broken too, so I now need to find replacements
  3. Any chance i might be able to get some of those links too? Was reorganising my kit over the weekend and when I inspected my rigs i found that there are a few damaged clips that could do with replacing before they fail completely. And like yourself, I would prefer not to cut and restitch straps if I can avoid it
  4. dont know about a pdf, but there are booklets. i picked one up on ebay earlier this year, and a little bit of google-fu turns up this listing, if you really want a physical copy of your own.. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/157260580079?_skw=british+army+virtus+equipment+user+manual&itmmeta=01K8GWJRH0DG385G6V8RE6TFDH&hash=item249d7604ef:g:IS8AAeSwFfNopyI8&itmprp=enc%3AAQAKAAABAFkggFvd1GGDu0w3yXCmi1e2n3viT7yxXYNAddctCmzAxPLoVog7CA7JExM8dnLwRocrjfHGBfpteSu%2B7cenN92C4%2FE3rPPYHPShtacno4RvxU%2FKkENWP%2FoZqNsDWH2RoGNy%2F6YOuicw%2FweEscwzxTsksdS5NPOh4Hui8ywDQ75SXFH3h%2FR2nFwu0KsslQQhY9WETCo%2B%2FUcVRjvRPOgFqpEA3Zoj8KutejfUbGD36C7fAg66dyHHvrb2%2FrpI5q8%2FO80n2v%2B89pcMepJqVA5b1r34PItO%2BDIJvXQXbWUC%2F2A909HcmLejUtoirYOaGNJNzF5wisR7fJ7s%2BfscnCZLK98%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR-CIy5zEZg
  5. bit late for OP, but maybe helpful for others..... was also going to suggest the SPR300. picked one up myself recently and its a really nice RIF, though i do need to try and get used to the sniper playstyle, as im normally pushing up close with the action to get my moneys worth, but a recent injury has made me consider having a fallback option so i dont over exert myself, and after watching videos about the rifle from BZ tactical, i bit the bullet (pun intended) and bought one best part is the dual mag system, which i also was confused by.... basically the rifle is set up using VSR compatible internals. with the length of bolt pull, you would be unable to feed BBs into the hop from a magazine in the correct position to look like real steel rifle, so they installed a feed bridge to transfer BBs from the mag, through the hand guard and into a VSR hop unit, so the regular mags act as speed loaders. but if you pop the bridge piece out (a bit fiddly, but doable) you can then pop a normal VSR mag in the slot and have it feed directly into the hop chamber, so great if you already have lots of VSR mags, or fancy buddying up with a friend and need to be able to share ammo/mags do you recall what spring you upgraded to? not sure what i have in my stock one, but if i ever need/want to upgrade the power, i dont want to waste my money by mistake on the same or a weaker spring than i already have
  6. Only played there once, back in January 2020, right before lockdowns... it was my first ever airsoft game after my brother convinced me to give it a try, so TBH I wasn't really focusing on the way the site was run/set up as I had no prior frame of reference. Was a good site with good game modes and props. One thing I will say is to echo @mightyjebus... take a torch. There are a lot of dark (but not pitch black) areas in the cell blocks, so a torch will come in handy. Honestly want to return to this site again, but due to other commitments, I will be limited on game days for a few months... hopefully in the new year.
  7. not sure what you are referring to, but i was wondering if the small HPA bottles would fit into one of the box mags to convert it to HPA. with the issues of finding appropriate CO2 capsules for the CO2 box mag, and the significant amount of green gas the regular tank swallows, im becoming more and more convinced that HPA is way to go, but i am dubious about running a full size HPA tank and external line for the same reasons @Austeyr mentioned (snagging). its for this reason alone that i dont own more HPA guns and no longer run my Tippmann M4 as often as i used to. I am also debating whether to keep using the casette mags once i do convert it to HPA, seeing as i have 12 spare cassette mags, or do the AEG box mag conversion.
  8. Abandoned the silicone oil soak after your message. I did however try tightening the valve then stored for a week with maintenance gas and leak has stopped now... i always store my gas mags with a puff of maintenance gas in them, but make sure to purge them before use to limit any lubricants going in hop unit TBH I don't think it's that bad weight wise... Two biggest issues I have noted so far (with only 2 game days so far) for me are reloading... its a faff to unlatch the front plate and swap the mag in the drum on the field, so i did need the pair of spare drums at an outdoor field where I could use full auto.... That and I need to get a proper period correct sling for it (either genuine or repro) so I can run it as a secondary. I was running a kombat MTP sling on it last weekend at the ollie talks airsoft memorial game at C3, but had to fiddle to get it through the sling point on the stock... and may have to cut the sling off the stock at this rate Had two marshalls and several players all fawning over it..... until I mentioned the price... and all but one player were impressed with it's rate of fire on full auto.... that one player being one of three birthday boys who had to run a gauntlet.... everyone was taking turns on the firing line checking their weapons were feeding, while the gauntlet trio stood 20m down range.... and then my turn... *BRRRRRTT*... this one guy then shuffled to the far side of the gauntlet and shouted back "fuck that. Thats just evil"
  9. I got one delivered from high pressure airsoft. Took it out for a bit at RIFT Blackstone today. Got a lot of admiring glances, and a couple of guys test fired it on the range in full auto and all loved it... I did have a small drawback of only having the one mag and one gas tank that it was delivered with, and the output valve has a slight leak, so I need to look into that.... an overnight soak in silicone oil and a few puffs of maintenance gas will be first port of call I had ordered some spare mags and a spare gas tank fron SOCOM tactical to reduce faffing around to replace the mag insert on the field, but they didn't turn up in time. Not that I really burned through ammo at a semi-only site.... plus it's a bit bulky for the tight corners, so probably not an ideal CQB weapon. Aside from the slight gas leak from the tank (which i kept on top of by topping up gas in between games), it ran flawlessly, but half way through the afternoon I packed it away and switched to my MP7 that was more suited to the sites tight turns. Bugger, wish I had known... could have saved myself a bunch of cash. Oh well. At least I know I got it, and the customs monkeys weren't going to break it.... unlike my VFC M249 I imported ?
  10. TBH, I just disassemble my rigs and throw them in the washing machine. I just take the pistol holster and the grenade clamps etc off the vest. But i leave the mag pouches on, as they are velcro close pouches with no dangle bits of elastic or string to get snagged in the mechanism. Run the washing machine on 40°C on sports setting with a liquid detergent tab and some scent booster granules in the drum, fabric conditioner in the drawer. Then where possible, hang outside to dry
  11. im not sure if this has been posted elsewhere on the forum, but i thought i would add it here. i was at RIFT airsofts "shift your rifts" event yesterday (not playing, but visiting the car boot and trade stands). while i was there i met and got talking to Mike from pewhubTV. during the course of our conversation he revealed that there are a couple of games being organised in ollies memory, with all profits from the days being donated to charity. i mentioned to him about this thread, and the love the community has for ollie. as mike mentioned that he isnt on this forum, i said that i would share the game dates and locations (with his blessing) to help spread the word. the first game is on Saturday 7th June at Spartan airsoft in Bristol, the second will be at C3 tactical in Monmouth on 13th July. both can be booked via the respective booking sites. mike also informed me that if you contact him through pewhub or the "airsoft says fk cancer" FB page and ask for it, he will provide a link so people can also book on for saturday 12th July to arrive at C3 and camp overnight for a pre-game social. mike has said the social is open to everyone, and if anyone books on, the link is free to be posted for all to see. i have not yet messaged to ask for the link, as i need to get holiday approval from my boss to have the time off for the event at C3, but i fully intend on going, and i hope to meet several of you there
  12. yeah, i dont want to just rip things apart and break something by accident i might give that a try, but issue of anything under the paddles is keeping it fixed there with constant mags in and out not at home currently, so cant look, but IIRC there is only a small amount of the reciever under the top of the paddles, while the bottom part is exposed and could get caught if a mag is inserted/pulled out too quick... i will have a closer look once im home tomorrow or monday
  13. that is the issue im having. the mag release paddles (circled in red in pic, and one on each side of the RIF) are the issue, and appear to be extensions which operate a recessed mag release button (in green, only on right side), so im wondering if the paddles can be removed without affecting the mag release button... or if i will have to figure out some thing else. while i appreciate the link, given the size and location of the paddles, im not sure it will be possible to mod the file enough, but i will ask my brother who has a 3d printer
  14. hoping for a bit of tech advice from the hivemind. i have a G&G ESB-10 gas shotgun i recently bought. i want to be able to run this as a backup gun for CQB areas, but i have run into an issue. if i sling the gun on my back, then before i can run more than three steps, the mag release paddles hit on my rig and i drop the mag, as you can imagine, this is SUPER annoying, and im wondering if theres any way to remove the paddles without wrecking the rest of the mag release mechanism. looking at it, it seems possible, but i dont really want to risk taking it apart without doing research first and asking if anyone has experience modding the gun this way, or if anyone has any other suggestions for ways to "fence" the paddles to prevent dropping mags mid game
