  1. You're right. Rewatching the original show video at 27 mins it says "Since the FPR MkIV has the recoil mechanism inside the buffer tube, the battery is stored in the crane stock rather than inside the buffer tube".
  2. I think they're saying the recoil is mounted on the gearbox (like MP5), so the buffer tube is used for the battery in both cases.
  3. Looks interesting, although the more I look at it the more it's just interesting, rather than actually "oooh", like the MP5 was when announced. Another M4! I understand the reasoning, but how about revamping the G3, or the sig, or... Recoil and non recoil models and selling the uppers/lowers separately - Of course, totally different upper gearbox, so no clue how easy it would be to change springs, etc. Otherwise, potentially different power builds (DMR upper, CQB upper) - but does anybody actually do this, or just have 2 complete guns so at least you've got a spare. Yet another type of proprietary mag (and battery) though, albeit to take pressure off feed nozzle and to add more safety. Also permanently keeps mag under tension in magwell for consistent placement. This kind of makes sense, but midcap syndrome didn't really show up as I recall till people started using 150rd midcaps and jamming them in there. These are only 81 round I think, so I'm not quite following. Propriatery battery, and only 800mah at that. I get it if it's to make the stock tube/recoil thing work, and maybe they've got a magic motor that means the battery lasts for an age, but otherwise that's an investment in Marui only batteries. I hope that the option to use others is there, but it remains to be seen. And as ever - spares. The more unique non-replaceable FCU's there are, the more potentially expensive bricks out there. I do actually want to have a good look at both and having the option of a recent build Marui non-recoil M4 with decent hop, etc. is promising, but not immediately throwing money at the screen. Speaking of - roughly £450 and £600 in Japan. Wonder what that'll translate to over here...
  4. Link above for the repro one looks good. Worth checking your site rules as I've been places where cold steel type rigid knives aren't allowed to be used for melee kills and only bendy rubber types are (assuming your site even allows knife/melee kills, some don't.). The other option if you're only using it for looks and not drawing it is just to get a sheath and a Kabar handle.
  5. A few bits. Recently went down the plate carrier route, after borrowing one for a day. Picked up a Warrior DCS, which is good, but doesn't cope with placards. So I bought an AXL adapter panel, which is very thin/low profile and threads into the molle to give you an option to mount placards. This then gave me some options for an MP5 placard, in this case the unobtanium sled. Swapped out the buckles for G hooks for a lower profile, and...
  6. Another vote for "What problem does QD solve that the existing mount doesn't"? Other than possibly that you already own a QD sling and don't want another one. Urban ERT do a one/two point sling that will use the existing mount point and you can choose whether you want to use an HK hook or fabric with a QR buckle. I'm sure there are many similar by other sling manufacturers. I've got a legit HK 3 point but I don't tend to use it because I've previously found that the metal mid body hook above the magwell that you use to carry it in port arms and then punch forward tends to be weak on airsoft guns. Instead I usually run one of the HK bungee slings. Which seem a bit overpriced for what they are, but it works okay given how light the thing is and that you're usually not patrolling with it. HK hook does chew up the paintwork on the sling mount a bit though. As everyone else has said, the answer to the original question is "get someone else to buy it and ship it to you".
  7. I hadn't realised Eagle 6 did the o-rings and have now managed to fix one of my leaky G17 mags based on just seeing this pic, so cheers for that.
  8. If it looks like the stop on empty function then it might be worth checking anyway. That's got a small spring on it if memory serves and if it's not been put back together right (or even tightened up too much) perhaps the cutover is just being subject to the whims of vibration rather than functioning correctly.
  9. Another good day out at UCAP Vanquish here. Met up with an assortment of players from other sites, this forum and people who I've run into previously (the Ranger Green mob). We ended up with a makeshift bunch of about 10 of us, which is decent numbers to make a difference, and I had for once actually brought comms along. Not always needed in urban sites, but handy with people dying off at different times and coordinating when trying to regroup. The numbers meant we could have a few people on left/middle/right of objectives and fill in as needed. As ever, marshalling and briefing was solid. First games were attacking/defense clearing through the site with the ultimate objective to capture the top most Factory building. Wasn't necessary to clear everything, but clearing a building pushed up the respawn, so it was a trade off between going straight for the objective and bypassing the other structures or systematic clearing with a closer respawn. I think we mostly went for the latter. Attackers had unlimited lives with defenders on a team cap. This game was subsequently reversed and after initially being knocked back a bit, we rallied and pushed forward into the attackers, slowing their advance. I was pleased to get some shoots in under barricades (whilst shooting "you're getting shot in the boots and it still counts!) and a couple with the pistol. There was no official timer/score on this one (or any of the subsequent games) but I felt we had had the better of the two rounds as we headed back for a tea break. I *think* the next game was capturing the objectives. We had to find a locked door and then breach it with bolt cutters. Having done this, we would locate a map giving us the two objectives we needed - detonators and uranium. We then had to set these off and I *think* then move another objective on the the final destination (Petrol Station). My memory is a bit hazy on this as either I have forgotten because I wasn't involved in the last part, or because of breacher syndrome from when the explosives were set off. But I'm getting ahead of myself. We set off from spawn and had some solid fights through the Office building (clearing up staircases is a challenge), through the Hospital where we located the locked door and location of the last two objectives, before finally getting down to the Hotel. From there we made entry via the side and then headed up and along the top floor to secure the detonators/plutonium. Highlight here was a standoff behind glass doors to a couple of reds in the corridor. We knew some of our team was trying to get in behind them, and that we didn't need to go get them because we had secured the objective room. All that was necessary was to keep them locked down. Still, various door opening/shutting and hails of gunfire ensued before I took advantage of them repositioning to lob a grenade down the corridor. Surprisingly I actually got it in the right place and got a kill. I can only imagine it was the lack of any trees to hit that contributed to my success. The detonator was then brought to the plutonium and a very large explosion in a very small space followed. The sort of "fingers in ears, open your mouth, get smacked in the chest with the shock wave" thing. Many lols were had and it'll undoubtedly turn up on video sometime. Lunch followed, sitting out in the sun watching the sea. Very civilised. After lunch a reverse of the above and then into the final game of the day which was essentially a british bulldog type affair with both teams being split in half and having half their team attacking, half defending. Both teams attackers couldn't attack each other, only the building they had been assigned to clear. As a teams defenders were hit, they went and joined their attackers. First team to clear the enemy building wins. It works fairly well. And that, I think, is about it. I ran the NGRS MP5, TM Glock 17 gen 5 and a borrowed Warrior DCS plate carrier. 10/10, would definitely be exploded again.
  10. Geoff's from 0.25 upwards. https://www.outdoorandtactical.co.uk/product/geoffs-precision-bbs-0-25g-1000-black-invisible-stealth However... Given how airsofters with white BB's often have trouble telling what they're hitting (or not), the assumption that "stealth" BB's are going to be awesome are often not matched by the reality. Even in well set up sniper rifles, there's sufficient chance of variation due to breeze, foliage etc that all I've ever found with black BB's is going "Well, I have no idea where that went..."
  11. I too was at Worthing yesterday, although whilst @Impulse was in the safe zone, I was off buggering around with his .308 Wolverine MTW to see if that took my fancy. It was bang on the money on .43's and using the C02 wraith stock, so no tank/line. Despite the length and the suppressor, it was actually reasonably light (apart from the scope, I feel NASA may want that back at some point). Weather was unexpectedly cold and drizzling first thing, but this wore off by game on and developed into actual sunshine in the afternoon. Fairly standard attack/defence games, but they work well enough. I found the MTW to be quiet and easy to send rounds at people but... not sure, a little soulless perhaps. On a general note I am not convinced that hordes of 450fps silent ghillie DMR users make for great gameplay (not that that was necessarily the case today) and I wonder at what point Rules might be required to address this. It's a personal bugbear, so unlikely to be resolved any time soon. I did find it a little too easy to send rounds repeatedly down range and suspect I would need a bigger budget for ammo if I played that more regularly (having done about half a bag of .43's by lunchtime). Still, it was nice to get the chance to find that out without having to drop a grand on kit. Lunchtime I swapped over to the NGRS MP5, which was good as ever. As mentioned the airstrike game went well, but I ran out of steam after that and headed back earlier for fear of getting irrationally grumpy (hard to believe I know). Thankfully a bank holiday Monday to finish putting kit away. I'm also a little behind in write ups having played both UCAP Vanquish (again) and Greenops over the last couple of weeks. Vanquish has had improvements despite the short amount of time it's been open, with external barriers having been set up and new tin added to the fencing so shooting/looking through is no longer possible. This time round I spent most of the day outside with only a few excursions through the building. Noteable highlights were standing behind the Polaris ATV whilst an increasingly irate opponent shot at me, convinced I was not taking my hints. Helpfully for him, the marshall pointed out that it has a windscreen, which I was behind as rounds slammed into that instead of me. Well, also partially into the occupants of the ATV, but it's not my fault they parked it there... The site was as always well run and tidy. Cafe was busy again, but at least I preordered. Considering another visit in the not too distant future. GreenOps was standard GreenOps, although a little quieter than usual but actually made for a decent day. Pretty standard, dust got in everything and I accidentally bought a shotgun whilst queueing for lunch. It happens.
  12. But isn't joule creep the heavier bb continuing to receive acceleration force in the barrel after the point at which lighter BB would have already exited? (and this only when there is more acceleration i.e. cylinder capacity, left to give). At the point its *left* the barrel, it surely can't have any more acceleration force acting on it. It demonstrably can't be the case that if you chrono'd it 20m out it would have more energy than previously, right? (Disclaimer, I don't know any of this stuff and have been drinking, so...)
  13. This thread needs more science. Assuming rounds weighing 0.2g and 0.4g leave the gun with the same kinetic energy (joules), what's the difference in impact at point blank/10m/20m/30m? The heavier round can't *gain* any more energy (although it can lose it less quickly). Brain hurts.
  14. If it's based on the TM then it's basically V3 but without the motor cage. Depending on what you're dropping in there (e.g. polarstar, wolverine) then the actual engine will be the same but the trigger board may be different. In which case, go for the V3. The MP5K does (if memory serves) have a unique selector plate on it, so if your engine's fire selector mech is based around modifying/reading position of that then you might want to consider picking up a spare to mess with (It's possible this is only relevant to things like Perun Hybrids and not HPA, but worth mentioning).
  15. I'm not sure it's motor specific advice, I *thought* is was more to do with when you're running something like a Perun, etc. which can detect a complete cycle of the gears, so it can finish without the spring under tension. But yeah, I'd always run the ARL anyway. What are you really gaining by leaving it out?
