  1. Honestly I don't understand CNC'ing parts and then assembling them with crappy hardware, make your mind up, is it premium or not. I'd prefer them to skimp out on my ironsights or stock, atleast if I go to replace them they won't just fall to bits.

Hi all, I'm looking to get into airsoft teching and am searching for my first project gun to learn on. I'm looking for a boneyard M4 (or any common V2-based rifle) that is externally mostly complete but internally non-functional. I'm happy to take on guns with common, fixable problems, including: Electrical faults (e.g., just stopped working, blows fuses) Jammed / locked up on semi-auto Running sluggishly or sounding 'whiny' Stripped or grinding gears I'll also consider guns with broken or missing external parts (like stocks, handguards, grips, etc.) as long as it's a common model where spares are easy to find. The main receiver (upper and lower) should be intact. The only things I'm trying to avoid are guns with cracked gearbox shells or a literal 'box of parts'. If you have an old, unloved rifle gathering dust that fits this description, please send me a PM with: A quick description of the gun. What's wrong with it (if you know). How much you'd like for it. Thanks for helping me get started!

  3. In summary, the Freya is great but the hardware used is poor in some places, much better than the rental and the tracer has made the game a fair bit easier for me. Enjoying this hobby and find the community really welcoming, thanks for all your input.
  4. Here we go, I was going to wait for the UKARA but got a bit too excited and I'm a bit flamboyant sometimes so I really didn't mind the pink. The rifle is solid, fit and finish is mostly sublime. Chronos at 0.85j or 270fps on average on 0.25's, advertised at 305fps on 0.2's so I think thats spot on. Replaced the bucking on it on day 2 of having it and did notice a slight difference (thought the bb's were shooting upwards on minimal hop prior) but could of just been placebo. Max weight at my local site is 0.25g's so can't speak for any other weights. The length is probably a touch too short for comfortable ergonomics but that's a trade off for being able to push around this killhouse effectively. I've had no problems so far with it's main job, firing. Patrol Bases pink paint is glossy and looks to be of good quality, I've only managed to scratch it when putting on mlok accessories etc. The only place I wish they would of been a bit more careful was on the stock, there is a button that makes the buttstock flip down on a hinge for quick battery changes and this was not working when I first got the RIF, I scratched away the paint there with a bit of ISO Alcohol to help and it now functions fine. When I was changing the bucking I messed up and stripped the screw that holds the main pin (the upper receiver pin), I was convinced it was a t10 screw but my t10 didn't fit snug so I wacked a 2.5mm allen in there, worked fine and then when I put it back together I stripped it, turns out it was a t10 but it was either poorly machined or my torx screwdrivers are crap. This just got worse and worse from here on, screw extractors i had were too big, so I then tried to dremel a flathead in there, the dremel skidded all over it, probably user error, might of been the 50p cutting disks. Mangled the screw, put a small gash into my receiver (painted over it with some tamiya OD), thought about wacking an allen key ontop of the bolt and then jb welding or epoxying it in there to then try twist it out, was advised not to. Took it to a local engineer and he welded a bolt to it and got it out for £20, took him 10 mins. Also not a fan of the little plate thing in the buffer tube, I think it's slightly too small as it falls out the bottom with ease, that thing was so annoying to position, probably the most difficult part of assembly. Have since got a Vector Optics Maverick II Plus DBR and it's spot on, love it. Using a crappy flip up protector right now but will get one from red dot engineering as im going to get a snide cheapo Unity Fast Riser mount for the dot as it's a bit hard to see with the paintball mask so the flip up will be useless once thats on. Also have a Feyachi WL25 with mlok pressure pad but haven't fielded it yet because I want a protector for that too. Tried a sling, don't like it, games aren't long enough to necessitate it either. Running the original 140rnd mag and have a 220rnd mid cap aswell, haven't needed to change mag during a game yet so that's good I guess (games usually around 30 mins). Also tried an angled foregrip and I have pretty small hands but this thing was very small, removed it immediately and sent it back. Here's a photo of me from a Halloween game last week, not a great picture I know. The camo is also a little overused but Im just basic like that sometimes😁.

    Battlefield 6

PC Builds are a financial commitment. I'm dreading upgrading mine. There's been a few games I'd love to play this year but my GPU hasn't been up to it. I don't want to get a fancy GPU because my CPU won't keep up. Spent 1400 on it in 2018 so I've had a good run I guess. Back then a bottom of the barrel budget GPU was £150, now it's £300. What's annoying (and always has been) is the motherboard socket changing. I am on AMD AM4, AM5 was released in 2022 and they're expecting a new socket change next year. So I don't want to upgraded now (not like I can reasonably afford it anyway) to AM5 and spend on some new ram and cpu for it to be obsolete in no time, but at the same time I don't buy on release, it's too expensive, so I'll be waiting until 27/28 before doing anything.
  6. That's funny you say that because I originally was going to get one of these, hadn't found anything wrong with it to be honest but when I saw what was included the Freya I through it was worth the extra £40. Yeah I'm a tinkerer in my other hobbies so I don't think I'll struggle to keep her running fresh. How is the MP7? what specific model are you using GBB or AEG? This is one of my favorite guns from video games so I would be mighty tempted. How are the ergonomics? Thanks for the info, read about a few issues with the bucking recently after they've changed it to a different one recently. Still considering the double eagle as it's a steal for the money but at the same weight with a polymer body it's slightly less tempting.
  7. Hi, my first post here. Visited a local CQB site a few times now (killhouse maze type thing in a mill) and I've decided I'm going to get membership and my UKARA on my next visit. The site's nice, I like the people and the games are fun. But I've visited once in February and then again recently and it's not changed one bit that whole time (is this normal?) so I think I might need to venture further afield, all the sites around me are ran by the same company so membership will be beneficial. The ancient rental ASG SLV36's have told me what I definitely don't want in a RIF, glad I got to spend some time with them. Pros of the G36? It seemed fairly accurate but the distance of encounters is very low so I should hope it is. Folding stock is great for using iron sights with a full face on. Last time I went I played stock collapsed the entire time and had much more hits than previous visits. I've never had a mag run out (470 capacity). Cons? Crap iron-sights Heavy at 2.8kg with no attachments or mag (especially when not using stock). Motor and gearbox sound horrible. Hi-Cap Mags rattling, screwing up my ninja plays. Though it didn't often feel like the barrel was particularly long, the RIF felt unwieldy and un-ergonomic. Winding is annoying and I frequently forget to do it. Feels cheap. Next Step So I'm thinking a Delta Armory R15 Freya 7". I ended up on this one mostly because of how much had been pre-upgraded with SHS parts, a ZCI High Torque Motor a nice EFS with features comparable to those in high end models. I've now got an ok understanding of how the RIF functions and I know that just because those parts are present doesn't mean they've been fitted adequately. I'm fine with jumping into the rabbit hole of working on my own RIF and would likely get quite into geeking out and tinkering. I probably prefer MP5's for looks, a lot more so than an M4 but in my budget they're all heavy and just annoying (those hop ups are dumb and those mosfets in the CYMA Platinum's sound like they have really bad QC issues.). The freya is not the cheapest, but I am sick of wasting money to just end up spending more down the line. I have had a look on the classifieds and honestly I'm not seeing any mega deals, unless it's a nice RIF with 7 mags that I hate the look of (I then end up settling on it 15 mins later and it's either been sold or the seller ghosts me, maybe it's my lack of posts are feedback that scares them off). So my questions are, does anyone have any experience with this RIF? Would it make a good starter? What colour would you get it in? And what would you suggest as an alternative? My budget for the RIF is around £300 or less (not including batteries etc) I'd like something with more modern specs as a kind of future proofing.
