Mike636 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 I used these on the range, one side has a hollow part so you still hear speech but it muffles gunfire rather well. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=161119213075
Fumps Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Hi Mike cheers for this, they look a bit like the one's that I have, so may try these first. cheers guys for all your help & advice. I really appreciate this
Mike636 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 They do work really well even when next to really loud things like miniguns and LMGs In action 2nd from right
Fumps Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Noice You sound like you have too much fun there
Mack Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Oh well, it was a nice idea while it lasted What do you reckon to the sound attenuation of the Comtacs, Mack? As a sound engineer I can swear to the sound absorbing properties of Rockwool loft insulation, so a bodge is possible, but you'd want to make sure that it was well sealed because the 2nd to last place you'd want that stuff is in your ears! But if the sound reproduction isn't worth the effort, f*ck it... Well as said they do dull your hearing, but not to the level a set of workshop ear defenders would. For airsoft use there fine for what they are but I certainly wouldnt use them on a RS range. You could easily bodge some sort of insulation to make them more sound proof.
Supporters Ian_Gere Posted November 19, 2013 Supporters Posted November 19, 2013 I can't use those 3 chamber ear plugs - my lug'oles are too small! I can only get the 1st dome inside and the 2nd not quite sealing lol. The ones I use cost me £160 to have custom made. I'm still deaf tho
CaptainSwoop Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 For real Elitism and snobbery, join an Archery Club. There are people in there that won't talk to each other because they use a slightly different bow string! padraigthesniper 1

I love going on my 6 year old hard tail & kick their arse because they have all the gear & no idea. It really gets on my nerves. Airsoft_Mr B 1

If it helps I was a massive gear snob on my mountain bike back when whippy seat posts and shaving half a gramme off the weight of your cranks was de rigeur. Mind you, I've never owned an X5... jeffery7466 1

CaptainDumbass Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Thought id start this fire once again. I play at xsite alot, amazing site and great staff. However my heart broke when I found this. Not taking hits, silly hand gestures, constant showing off in front of the camera, blind firing. Urgh This is also one of the reasons I will never buy an AEP Lord_Metile 1

Popular Post Black Death Posted May 26, 2014 Popular Post Posted May 26, 2014 Personally, I ain't got no issues with codsofters at all. Ok so they're weapons look aweful and sometimes they don't really know the rules BUT we all started somewhere. That aside a lot of the time I admire they're attitude. They have that raw niavity which guarantees that they will enjoy they're day no matter what. A lot of the time where I play it's them who do a lot of the running around and break up any stalemates. On the subject of running, on average they are a lot lot fitter than most of us and this is they're greatest advantage. While we are sat at desks Monday to Friday, these guys play football in the school playground. They also weigh up to 3 times less than us and have not had 2 decades worth of fry up/cigarettes/Booz. The end result is most of them can run the pants off us. Call me a fool but surely a kid with a rental is more deadly than a fat bastard with a systema??? Last year my team picked up 4th of 12 teams at the annual billericay woodland competition. My team were absolutely nakered by the end few games but the kids were running around like we had just started. They actually won the entire tournament with an average age of about 11-12. I'd be worried if these guys started taking it seriously as the rest of us would struggle to keep up with these light feet fairies lol Hope more of em join the game overall :-) Monty, CaptainDumbass, Fumps and 4 others 7
Lord_Metile Posted May 26, 2014 Author Posted May 26, 2014 I don't mind codsofters in the sense that they're having fun. I mind them when they are breaking the rules and just being a pain in the bottom .
jeffery7466 Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Everybody was a beginner once. We went into our first skirmishes utilising what we knew, right or wrong. Those that became good would have learnt from mistakes and from others, gained experience, and stopped doing stupid things. Others would just keep on doing the wrong things, and be completely oblivious. With young kids, although they are inexperience, it's always nice to see that they are having a good time. Once at a CQB site, a young boy who stuck with me kept on getting hit because he made bad moves, etc (or maybe I was a bad influence). Then towards the end of the day, he hit a regular airsofter with some sweet flanking moves. He was over the moon, and kept on shouting "I killed him! I killed him!". Bad etiquette of course, but it was so nice to see him learn something and be genuinely happy. If we are not careful, we will be become an elitist community! Fumps and Lord_Metile 2
