n1ckh Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Just wondering if people put a bit of grease/oil on the inside of the cylinder and O-ring to aid in lubrication ?? What grease/oil do people use ?? I have a feeling that the cylinders in my rifles are bit dry
p1878 Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 I have used high melting piont grease . But take most off with a cloth dont use wd40 etc not good for rings aparantly.
n1ckh Posted December 29, 2014 Author Posted December 29, 2014 I was thinking of using silicone oil as thats what I use to clean the barrels I dont let wd40 near any part of the rifles lol
Supporters Samurai Posted December 29, 2014 Supporters Posted December 29, 2014 Silicone grease. Just a tiny tiny bit.

Supporters Qlimax Posted December 29, 2014 Supporters Posted December 29, 2014 I don't know if T-Tech Gun Sav would be any good in an AEG but I use that stuff in my SMP and it's excellect stuff.
Supporters Ian_Gere Posted December 29, 2014 Supporters Posted December 29, 2014 Use silicone oil to soak o-rings (just put a few drops in a little ziploc baggie with the o-ring) and CT-2 Teflon suspended in silicone grease on the cylinder and the piston head edge + o-ring and the piston rails.
n1ckh Posted December 29, 2014 Author Posted December 29, 2014 That's the same stuff I use on the prop shafts in my fast electric boats ian Really do appreciate your replys guys, I think it goes towards the drop in FPS Ian_Gere 1
Supporters Ian_Gere Posted December 29, 2014 Supporters Posted December 29, 2014 Yeah, a good greasing goes a long way to improving air seal which boosts FPS and makes it more consistent. Another place to grease is the base of the cylinder head spout so that it makes a good seal against the air nozzle internal o-ring (if it has one - if not sack it and get one that does). But only the base because you don't want it to get forward enough to be blasted off the inside of the nozzle down the barrel.
n1ckh Posted December 29, 2014 Author Posted December 29, 2014 Cheers ian, I will be upgrading both M4's as I go along but for now I'll do a bit greasing and swap to a tbb aswell Ian_Gere 1
DM_Technical Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Molykote 33 on all my o ring seal has worked for years
