Lofty Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Hello, Sort off know the answer but would like some baking and other thoughts. So my Beta Projects AK is haveing problems with the Hop unit I think. It is alway firing off to the right, double feeding and the Hop adjustment arm keeps moving. Seems that there somthing worng there? tohughts on that. I am no tech and would not dream off taking it apart. Warenty has run out out landwarrior. Dose any one know or recomend any techs? Or is time to man up and sort it out and have any advice or videos. Cheers Joe
Supporters sp00n Posted December 31, 2014 Supporters Posted December 31, 2014 when was the last time you cleaned the barrel? its the barrel to hop aligned and not twisted etc? as for the hop adjustment arm moving, there is normally a small screw in it somewhere (if its got the hop type i am thinking off), it may have come loose.
Lofty Posted December 31, 2014 Author Posted December 31, 2014 I cleaned the barrel very recently I think just before the issue, so maybe I dameged the hop unit in doing so but I thought i stopped short off it. will give that little screw a tighten.
Supporters sp00n Posted December 31, 2014 Supporters Posted December 31, 2014 you *may* have rotated the barrel slightly in the hop. if so it might not be a big issue, most time of the time removing the barrel + hop, then looking down the barrel, holding the hop, rotate the barrel to align them is all that needed
AK47frizzle Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 If spoon's method doesn't work, then you'll have to man up and take the thing apart. Ak's aren't too difficult to work with plus there are plenty of videos on youtube showing you how to take the thing apart. The beta project ak, as far as i know, takes all the standard ak internals so it should be easy finding parts if you need them
Lofty Posted January 1, 2015 Author Posted January 1, 2015 Right taken it apart, clean the barrel without the hop on it, realigned the hop and sorted that out, just got to put it back together and test it.
BrightCandle Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 A misaligned hop up normally has a quite distinctive pattern to it when the BB flies. They sort of seem mostly straight to begin with and then as the range goes on they seem to drift further and further to the right. If you overhop it a little you'll see the BB both climb and drift to the right.
Lofty Posted January 1, 2015 Author Posted January 1, 2015 Back together now, gave a test fire looks alot better but my garden is not bigger enough to really see, so will have to wait till my next skirmish. Thanks for all the advise tho. Joe sp00n 1
