GAV2084 Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Hi, Working on my Brit Squaddie load out, not that bothered about being 110% OTT about it, just want to achieve something that works best for me and be based around British. Going for the 90s era Squaddie, here is what I have so far... DPM Shirt DPM Combat Pants Fingerless Tact Gloves Black Patrol Boots Tact Belt with DPM Double Mag Pouch & DPM Utility Pouch Olive Green Knee Pads ICS SA80 (L85) 3 Point SA80 Sling Olive Green Face Scarf Been looking for a 'replica' of a British MK6 Helmet... Not interested in a ex issue of this item as I'd much prefer a way lighter plastic replica, but can't seem to find one. The British Helmets have a very distinct style and look to them. Hard to find in my experience. Overall trying to keep my load out light in weight but enough gear to be useful.
Wølf Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 The mk6 isnt heavy and i found it extremely comfortable, thing to look out for is the condition of the padding inside as it can go "flat" meaning it no longer becomes a snug fit. I bought mine for £20 unissued and used to wear it all the time when i did my brit loadout, now i use it for when i go tackling large weirs when kayaking Also for a good looking brit loadout you could do with some PLCE webbing
GAV2084 Posted July 6, 2011 Author Posted July 6, 2011 Havn't got any really good pics yet, will hopefully get some this Sunday at my next game and i'll post some in this thread.
craig Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 for a trooper load out you would need a plce holster for a p226 or a browning hp pistol to go with your webbing
nellboy Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Have a look at Lukey's pics in the loadout thread for a pretty decent Brit Squaddie loadout. Also dont bother with a pistol (P226 or Hi-Power) as your average squaddie wont be issued with one. (More for specialists/ncos/officers etc). Also are you going for temperate or desert loadout? For temperate my advice would be: Mk6/Mk7 Helmet (with DPM cover) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/combat-helmet-mk-6-/...=item1c1cf7eccc Boonie http://flecktarn.co.uk/dpcbh0na.html DPM Shirt and Trousers Black Combat Boots I think you can find your own link PLCE Webbing system http://flecktarn.co.uk/dpwws2nx.html Scrim Neck Scarf or Shemagh Heres a link to the British Army's current equipment brochure. http://www.army.mod.uk/documents/general/2...V12.PDF_web.pdf Hope this helps

GAV2084 Posted July 7, 2011 Author Posted July 7, 2011 Thanks for all the replies guys! Some great info and really interesting photos! I am undecided on the MK6 helmet as I have had one before (years ago) and just the weight of them alone puts me off. I'm a skinny little unfit kinda guy, lol! I can see how they are great for real steal but seems a bit much for me for just Airsoft and I am guessing it's hard to tell if you take a hit on it at some points due to it being kevlar. Surprised there isn't a lightweight replica like they do with the US helmets for Airsoft. I dunno, maybe I had a stupidly heavy MK6 or something as a lot of the lads I played with back then laughed at the idea of wearing it all day long due to its weight. I'd prefer a helmet over a bonnie hat though. I'm going for woodland DPM rather than desert. Trying to keep my load out minimal to a certain degree cos like I say (not meaning to sound 'soft' or anything, lol) I just like to keep my load out as lightweight as possible, so if its not being used for something I don't carry it. Just means I can move quicker and easier when needed.
ronin677 Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Not sure if you're still looking for a replica but I made a fibreglass copy of my mk6. Only weights 300g see my thread http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/21676-british-mk6-helmet-reproduction/
Ceb Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 I have a Mk6 for sale with DPM woodland cover for sale in the gear thread.
