Dan Robinson Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 Granted that's for a sawed off shotgun, and I want it for my Auto 9, but nothing a little padding wouldn't cure. Would prefer MTP as that's what my Plate carrier is, but I'm not so invested in my outfit that everything has to match perfectly. Have ordered this one from PB to see if my "over the back" idea works: https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/8fields-tactical-shotgun-scabbard?pv=7366 Tah in advance
Supporters Lozart Posted February 28, 2023 Supporters Posted February 28, 2023 That specific holster is made by Serbu for that shotgun and I think it's out of production. UTG made a Paintball Tactical holster so maybe look for paintball pistol holsters. They seem to be open ended and adjustable so may just work for an Auto9 Dan Robinson 1
Dan Robinson Posted February 28, 2023 Author Posted February 28, 2023 Was hoping to avoid open ended holsters, but will have a look at the paintball stuff - good call. Annoyingly just spoke to one of the guys that works for me, and he's just come back from Pakistan. Apparently I cold have had a proper leather one made to order in a couple of days for next to nothing that he could have brought back if I had told him. Hey ho.
Moderators Tackle Posted February 28, 2023 Moderators Posted February 28, 2023 Thinking out of the box, what about a single P90 mag pouch, either bungee top or velcro flap, with a polystyrene packer to aid fit in the space from trigger guard to barrel tip........... Might work well ? ? Dan Robinson 1
Dan Robinson Posted February 28, 2023 Author Posted February 28, 2023 Potentially good cool there sir.
Tommikka Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 There are quite a few versions of the ‘paintball’ holsters about at varying price ranges. Many of them come from the same factories with different brand labels, I’m not endorsing any of the specific links, but this one is the general type with a tan option which should go with MTP/multicam : https://amzn.eu/d/9QwOYER I’ve ended up acquiring a few over the years, beginning with a generic one when I began in paintball which I cut up to insert a plastic ‘pocket’ making a holster for the old style giant paintball pistols like these: I cut the stitching open, shaped it to size and then stitched it back up This type can ‘easily’ be modified for a shotgun etc, depending on your dexterity and strong needles An alternate is this style which wraps around in a ‘one size fits all’ style: https://amzn.eu/d/gpnuEE9 I was looking around for options as I plenty of shopping during Covid expanding my revolver/pistol collection and ended up with the wrap around style which will let me adjust rather than having just more and more specific customs for each combination: Edit - I didn’t realise that one would animate ! I’m now reminiscing more over the wasted CO2 for the slide action ‘feature’ Dan Robinson 1
Tommikka Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 Here’s a piece of history - the original modified jumbo holster ….. The donor leg holster was destitched and wrapped around a ‘pocket’ The ‘pocket’ was a sheet of acetate folded around the pistol, shaped & reinforced with black nasty gaffer tape and wrapped in a DPM off cut An extra strip of Velcro on top to secure over the grip Looking at the proper stitiching on the bottom of the DPM for the extra para cord thigh tie strap it looks like it was cut from DPM trousers and the para cord threaded through the ankle tie This was probably my last use of a drop leg system due to the addition of useless weight on my thigh. I quickly went to waist holsters
Dan Robinson Posted March 7, 2023 Author Posted March 7, 2023 (edited) Well the Patrolbase scabard has landed and I think might work quite well if I can swap the catch for velcro or similar. Lucky I'm a fat bastard so plenty of real estate to house both a Camelbak and the scabbard. Will take a bit of practice, but I just need to pad out the bottom couple of inches. What say you peeps? No offence fatty?, but that looks like a pain in the arse to use, surely wearing it on a belt with a lower thigh strap on would work better ? PS. I'm a chunky monkey so I'm allowed to make fat jokes?, I'm also a slap head, pretty much disabled, & ugly as fuck, so the world is my oyster, maybe I should go non binary & then I'll have covered all the bases ? RostokMcSpoons Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Poor trigger discipline in that last pic, you're going to shoot yourself in the arse at some point ? Dan Robinson 1

It was a bit lower down first, and that was a pain. Where it is now I can reach fairly easily so the only real difficiency is the securing strap. I was pondering the leg holster this gameday when I realised how many of the Call of Duty slides for cover I was doing. Which was surprisingly high considering how fecked both my knees are ?. The whole Auto 9 thing is a light hearted backup for my DMR, as the Baby Badger is viable for that roll too. 8 minutes ago, RostokMcSpoons said: Poor trigger discipline in that last pic, you're going to shoot yourself in the arse at some point ? Not with the way gas pews are behaving in this weather ?. Point taken though. Will come with practice. It'll have to... The safety mechanism is utter pants.... Nearly took out several of my office monitors the other week when I was being careless with maintenance gas. ??? Also considering adding a collar and Brassards to the plate carrier too.
