Good day Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 On 21/12/2023 at 16:15, BigStew said: Umarex is a rebrand company. Their H&K GBBR are made by VFC which are considered a higher quality over WE. £500 can get you a decent GBBR however if you want to use them in a game you need 5 to 6 mags and they start at £50 and up depending on manufacture. So a practical GBBR budget starts at around £700. Also even the high end guns require regular maintenance and are much more likely to break than an AEG. You also need to think of a GBBR will suit you. 5 GBBR mags can hold about the same number of BBs as 1 mid cap you have to chose your shots and full auto is pretty much out the window so any hire player will a single high cap can out gun you. I personally only use a GBBR for single shot indoor CQB. I tried outdoors got very frustrated and had to go back to the safe zone to grab an AEG after half an hour as I had reloaded my mags twice was out of BBs and our if gas. Fair points there mate, I was really just wanting one for the more realistic feel, but yeah using them when everyone one else has high caps isn’t the best idea. I have noticed most of the nicest guns Umarex makes are rebranded. a lot of their own stuff seems to cut corners and details that kind of feel like a waste. Takes a little practice to get the angle onto the feed lips right, but then it's quick and easy to reload. And there are enough BBs in it to refill 5 mags if needed.

Yes you can definitely play with just a couple of mags and a speedloader, it adds some extra jeopardy to the proceedings, makes it more exciting ? I bought a specialised adapter from eBay for my VFC 416 mags. I think it made loading slightly easier. Of more importance is the quality of the speedloader. The cheapest ones won't even feed BBs reliable through their own mechanism. The slightly better ones will struggle to push BBs against a strong spring. The best ones work as you'd hope. I have one like that, but damned if I know what brand it is. I believe the g&g speedloader is rated very highly, I've not bought one yet but it's on my shopping list!
C-Diddy Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 I use a TM XL speedloader with the built-in pistol adapter, with works a treat with MWS mags. I also use an Odin for AEG M4 mags. I do have the AirTac MWS adapter for the Odin, but still favour the TM loader. I imagine it'd work with VFC mags too, using the pistol adapter. Nick G 1
Shaydee Posted December 27, 2023 Posted December 27, 2023 I've been using one of the GHK speedloader adapters glued on to a generic loader for my VFC mags, works a treat. I'll need to swap it around to a new one soon though as the loader is on its last legs after years of use ?

I got a friend to 3D print me an adapter for my Sidewinder loader, it works after gentle filing, just sounds really “crunchy” ? Edited December 27, 2023 by Enid_Puceflange
gavinkempsell Posted December 27, 2023 Author Posted December 27, 2023 Ah ok, thanks. I have one of these already, hoped there might be an adaptor for the odin speedloader. XM177 arrived today. CrackCommandoUnit1972, JimFromHorsham and RostokMcSpoons 2 1

See, I just did the stupid thing and looked for STL's for a WE Mag loader, then spent 7.5 hours printing it as I hate those little speedloaders. https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/various/we-tech-m4-airsoft-speedloader Won't be printing it again, as that was tedious. gavinkempsell 1
Enid_Puceflange Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 It was this thing I got printed Only needed very slight filing adjustment to get it working pretty well Only problem is the bulk of it, makes carrying it during gameplay a bit of a hassle Welcome to try it if we ever get a chance to meet up at the same site one day dude! https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3967349/files gavinkempsell 1
Enid_Puceflange Posted December 29, 2023 Posted December 29, 2023 Hats off to Defcon Order arrived earlier which was a surprise. Didn’t expect it until next month. Means I’m good for my next woodland game ? Nick G, gavinkempsell and C-Diddy 3
Sewdhull Posted December 29, 2023 Posted December 29, 2023 That's some pressure... I presume its absolute pressure, propane is 135 psia.

Sewdhull Posted December 29, 2023 Posted December 29, 2023 That's a useful thing to have on the gas for comparison. The actual pressure I think will an atmosphere less as pressures are usually quoted with refence to a vacuum. Anyone have the lil chart for green gas?

Yeah, I was actually toying with the idea of getting the adhesive versions for on my mags to see their actual temperature, then realised the gas tubes are inside the polymer mag shell and would therefore only give an outdoors reading still might be handy ??♂️ Edited December 31, 2023 by Enid_Puceflange

Sewdhull Posted December 30, 2023 Posted December 30, 2023 (edited) Yes. Every gas cylinder should have that. Thank you. Find out what pressure your gun likes and then adjust your gas to suit. Edited December 30, 2023 by Sewdhull Enid_Puceflange 1

Sewdhull Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 Oh, you have an adjustable valve...I take it your experience of propane or the propane butane mix hasn't been successful at that sort of temp?
