novioman Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 (edited) Anyone used JK Army. Are they reliable. Edited September 3, 2024 by novioman
BigAl Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 They have a good rep, iirc James Yeager uses them all the time. novioman 1
Guest JinxDuh Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 Bought from them a few times, no issues at all. Just a little slow to ship items out.
Asomodai Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 Very slow to shop anything out. Don't expect anything quick. Also stock system isn't the best. Numerous things are marked in stock but they don't have them novioman 1
MrTea Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 Personally, never had an issue when buying anything but shipping is expensive so don't take the price per item as gospel, you can pay a huge fee in postage and I think it's mostly weight dependant. novioman 1
pyromancer6 Posted September 1, 2024 Posted September 1, 2024 Bought some T8 glock valve/router kits from them and while it took a little while to arrive they came no problem. Price wasn't awful either plus I got a little cool PEQ box keychain lol novioman 1
Llewestymest Posted September 1, 2024 Posted September 1, 2024 I just purchased a SAG ak kit from them, arrived in the uk within 3 days of ordering and cleared customs 3 days after that so pretty good in my experience. novioman 1
Supporters Lozart Posted September 2, 2024 Supporters Posted September 2, 2024 Bought plenty from them and not had any issues. novioman 1
novioman Posted September 7, 2024 Author Posted September 7, 2024 Pleased to say I got very good service from them and saved £15 on a magazine compared to U.K. based dealers. ButcherBill and Lozart 2
SgtGrarm Posted January 15 Posted January 15 sorry to resurrect an old thread but were there any import fees for those of you who've ordered a rif from them?

You are always liable for import fees once an item is over the price threshold. it's purely luck if your package will get through Customs without charge. always assume you'll be on the hock for 20% plus handling fees. Yes, there will be. Unless what you're buying isn't available here or is really cheap, by the time you've paid shipping and taxes/fees, expect it to cost the same as buying here. 4 hours ago, BigStew said: You are always liable for import fees once an item is over the price threshold. it's purely luck if your package will get through Customs without charge. always assume you'll be on the hock for 20% plus handling fees. I've paid £545 in import taxes/fees this week. ? Tommikka 1

With Brexit it’s now quite clear that everything crossing the border is an import so there’s much less chance of something just slipping through, and certainly a decent sized box as a RIF There is now the potential that an overseas retailer can register with the destination tax office to pre-process VAT (Highly unlikely for the nature of our hobbies as it is not worth the registration costs and administrative work for the small amount of business) If they did then you would see UK VAT being charged on checkout, they declare on the package declaration documentation with their registration details and it flies through the customs element. (A VCRA RIF defence would still be required) But in practice you will get assessed for VAT on arrival. Starting with the customs declared value & invoice, including the postage cost - in the overseas currency They may reassess the value based on a UK market equivalent so don’t count on it and allow for a higher charge (They might not include the postage cost in the valuation, but are permitted to do so - and by including that in your calculations you are preparing for worst case scenarios) Take the total amount you paid including postage, convert that to £s (at the current rate which may differ from the rate at the time of payment. Work out VAT at 20% Then add on a carrier handling charge, which varies between carriers - it may be fixed at £8, £20 etc or it may be a percentage of the total On $294.70 I was charged £45.73 VAT (20% of £228.65) sent by USPS from the US and handled by Parcel Force here, for which they took a £12 handling fee Ask your local / preferred retailer and even for items not stocked they may import on your behalf. You would pay a UK retail price, but would have a better idea on the final cost rather than waiting for an extra bill Anonymoose 1
pyromancer6 Posted January 15 Posted January 15 I prefer to live life on the edge. You either hit the jackpot or you get done in everywhere by customs and I think that thrill is worth the hassle MistakenMexican, SgtGrarm, Anonymoose and 1 other 4
The_Lord_Poncho Posted January 16 Posted January 16 After many hundreds of chinese purchases over the past few years, i got stung for VAT (and a small handling charge) for the first time this month. The value of the package was about £135. The value declared by the sender of the package on the sticker on the outside was £50!

Chev Chelios Posted January 16 Posted January 16 How are people experiences with AliExpress? After reading this thread I went back and I had 17 total orders over the £135 threshold in 2024 and never paid tax or duty on any of them. Maybe because they have so many going through that have paid tax at point of sale? or was I just extremely lucky?

Plenty also from 18airsoft, MLE Mart, Airsoft Tiger that also arrived without additional charges.

I never had problems with taxes though I had always placed orders in such a way to keep the total within that threshold just in case.
