WildBoneZ Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Any tips guys on removing a threaded allen screw? I didn't even tighten this much and it's practically fused ? Need it off to work on the internals any tips appreciated!
ButcherBill Posted February 25 Posted February 25 either a flat head screwdriver tapped in or a torque head WildBoneZ 1
Moderators Tackle Posted February 25 Moderators Posted February 25 You could try tapping a torx bit in to it, they're tapered slightly so go with the next size up that the Allen key was. Probably a good idea to try to get some wd40 or similar in to the thread for an hour before. Failing that, you may have to drill it out, not sure you'll find an "eazyout" kit that small though. Andy905 Posted February 25 Posted February 25 If the above doesn't work use a hacksaw blade and cut a slot into the top then using a larger flat blade screwdriver you can then use it as a normal screw. WildBoneZ 1
Cannonfodder Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Before doing anything that could cause permanent damage try putting a rubber band over the end of the allen key for extra grip like this WildBoneZ, DJsnipe and ButcherBill 3
