rtong Posted March 8 Posted March 8 Hi, I've been out of the Airsoft world for years but got my old rifles down from the attic and thought I'd share my hop 10 year old hop experiment that still shoots incredibly consistent straight shots. I messed about with r-hops and flat hops which were the rage back then, I figured the larger the contact area the less chance of a perfect distribution of pressure, (the bb is likely to grab slightly to the left or right). I decided to chop off the end of a cheap barrel and file a tiny window, which was actually not easy as you end up with large metal burrs that you need to carefully file away with vertical strokes. I just stuck some rubber over it and it just works. Is this something that has been tried? I'd imagine it would be hard to mass manufacture due to the burr clean but I'd love to see something like it in the market. Rogerborg 1

I haven't tried an enclosed window, but I've cut a GBB/VSR style slot into a barrel (unhopped gas revolver) and squished RTV silicone in. I didn't work, but it's fun to experiment. rtong 1

You'd just mill the window first, then ream the inner barrel to final diameter after, removing any burr. rtong and Rogerborg 2
