AERA Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Recently saw this and I'm quite excited, is there any demo vids on it?

AERA Posted November 13 Posted November 13 I'm hoping it'll be any kind of good, don't know the track record with ares but from what you said I'm concerned lol ðŸ«

Lyndication Posted November 14 Posted November 14 Yeah I really don't trust Ares, who have a track record of making AEGs that shit themselves, to pivot to GBBRs and somehow not make them shit themselves sadly.  That said it might be useful to rip the furniture off this and possibly slap it on a VFC, GHK, or TM AK chassis. Remains to be seen.
novioman Posted November 14 Posted November 14 The ares 686 Co2 revolvers have been o.k, but I know that quite a few owners have had to send them back for replacement.Â
Lyndication Posted November 14 Posted November 14 I've seen some of those turn up with the hop installed upside down and video reviews where they just couldn't get them to shoot consistently for the life of them.  I'm guessing a few people win the lottery and get a working one probably but I'd rather something that just works. mightyjebus Posted November 14 Posted November 14 interesting GBB to be sure but the hate for Ares on here is crazy. I've got a bunch of Ares stuff in my collection and they are a reliable as most other manufacturers. Terrible to take apart as they seem to be designed by a savant drug addict but on the whole not really much worst that others when it comes to reliability. HZR13 1
ButcherBill Posted November 14 Posted November 14 (edited) I have 4 Ares rif's and never had any issues with them, but they're wall hangers so I don't feel qualified to really have an opinion. What I can say is I have another 9 wall hangers that have given me issues either through previous owners 'upgrades' or parts compatibility & none of them are ares. Out of the 7 other rifs I've used in game over the past few years only 1 has caused an issue in game due to the motor hight & was a simple fix. I'm sure where there's smoke you'll find fire but ares do seem to get a lot of schtick whether it's warranted or not. Edited November 14 by ButcherBill EDcase and HZR13 2

They are badly designed, badly manufactured and badly assembled, with poor quality parts.  I have had a number of them over the years and am now down to two and only keep those because I cannot get those two guns from any other manufacturer. Galvatron, Lyndication, HZR13 and 1 other 4

Quite an old brand, way back i think they were called Star, or they swallowed the Star brand up ? 🤔, some of their early kit was pretty good, but they never really evolved enough like other brands, & let themselves (& us) down by making most if their internals proprietary, & from soft as 💩 materials. Its amazing their still around, & i say that as a former fan-boi. Austeyr 1

hunter511 Posted November 15 Posted November 15 I had one of their aw.338's and it was..... not great. IIRC their Tavors looked really nice but had some issues as well. That said my mate loves his L1A1.Â
GiantKiwi Posted November 15 Posted November 15 Had both the MS700 and later stupidly, when I could afford it the Ares MS338, externals were fantastic, the internals were dogshit. Main trigger sear in both examples snapped into pieces within 20 shots a piece, requiring extremely expensive aftermarket options just to do the bare minimum.  Amoeba Honey Badger, that the stock ETU caught fire on its first use, and turned the gun into a lovely pile of beige plastic gloop. Round 2, when a local tech pulled the warranty replacement apart to remove the problematic ETU before plugging anything into it, discovered that the sector gear and bevel gear were made of clear plastic, on a £250 'premium' gun back in 2014.  G36, which for some reason only known to the intelligent people at Ares, was shipped out with an M170 spring, resulting in a gearbox shell that was cracked at the front of the cylinder, such that when the gearbox was removed the front of the shell clean fell off.  M320 GLM, where the primary receiver lugs for the hinge clean snapped off after 50 odd shells being reloaded.  Tavor 21, first generation, plastic gears in a £370 gun.  I have a much longer list, but that is why there is hate for Ares. They're like VFC AEG's, briliant externals (most of the time) but internals which need to be, most of the time, completely replaced OOTB. HZR13 1

While it has all the issues that one might expect from an Ares, it is a very easy gun to work on, except for the mag catch and the bolt release. Â Mine now has a real steel mag catch and spring. Â Fitting a battery into the handguard is a definite stress raiser.
