  4. Ok. There is no difference between any Combat Machine besides externals. Long barrel does not equal more range. It's the quality of the Hop-up unit, rubber or nub. All CM guns will clock in at 320-335 FPS from what I've heard. It's down to your preference whether you want a shorter or longer gun. A longer gun with a longer RIS system will allow you to put more attachments on it if you wish, however shorter guns can be more pointable and easier to go around corners and operate in confined spaces with. Longer guns can also be easily rested on barricades, cover etc if you want to maintain potential operational effectiveness while fiddling around with a water bottle/hydration unit or your pouches/mags.

    Why are systemas so much

I heard they make you the bestest good player ever in the history of airsoft. Personally a total waste of money. But that's my opinion.

  10. That's a fairly big & difficult task. What tools do you have access to. Mills? CNC mills? lathes? any sort of injection molding or powder metallurgy equipment? Hell,if you have the skill you can even make a mini-foundry and sand cast the thing. Look up some forum threads on how cosplay enthusiasts build replica weapon bodies with various plastics, and how to work with carbon fiber. I'd say carbon fiber is not a very realistic option, that stuff is expensive and hard to work with on an amateur level,AFIAK one guy made a spartan laser replica and had a very good guide on how he made it. Started off as a body of glued ABS reinforced with many many sheets and layers of fiberglass. http://www.therpf.com/f9/redshirt98s-halo-spartan-laser-airsoft-weapon-212510/ What sort of body do you have in mind? CAD drawings or any sort of manufacturing/design drawings are a must. It is not impossible-it has been done before. Just saying it is a very big task to undertake.

  11. seconding Jcheese' suggestion .Its all probably machining fluid & anti oxidization crap left in after the factory. If it is really dirty I'd wash the hop up bucking too. Take the barrel & bucking out of the hop up unit. With the barrel, get some cigarette filters/cloth/whatever and dip it in isopryl alcohol and run it through until clean. Then let it dry and run a dry cloth through it again. For the bucking, add some fairy liquid to a cup of water and drop it in. Leave it for about 10 minutes and let it air dry.

  12. use a cigarette filter tip soaked in meths, run it through a couple of times, change it for a dry one... if it's still not clean do it again. Rinse and repeat until the barrel runs through clean. the chances of it being gearbox grease are slim, it's more likely just the crap that came in it from the factory.

  16. For a camera that retails at £350 with no mounts, it was a damn good deal! For the £250 I got the camera, wifi controller, headband mount, three sticky surface mounts, a stick mount (pole to attach camera to), handlebar mount, surfboard mount, a waterproof (diving) housing and the normal housing. It was a good package, especially for people who do water sports.

  18. Everybody was a beginner once. We went into our first skirmishes utilising what we knew, right or wrong. Those that became good would have learnt from mistakes and from others, gained experience, and stopped doing stupid things. Others would just keep on doing the wrong things, and be completely oblivious. With young kids, although they are inexperience, it's always nice to see that they are having a good time. Once at a CQB site, a young boy who stuck with me kept on getting hit because he made bad moves, etc (or maybe I was a bad influence). Then towards the end of the day, he hit a regular airsofter with some sweet flanking moves. He was over the moon, and kept on shouting "I killed him! I killed him!". Bad etiquette of course, but it was so nice to see him learn something and be genuinely happy. If we are not careful, we will be become an elitist community!

  20. A bunch of paintballers walked into the safe zone, I over hear afew of them talking about the guns that they could see, one of them says "Oh my god that's the ak47 from modern warfare 2" he then walks up to the guy with the AK and asks: "do you know what gun that is" the guy with the gun in question replies "Yes, it's an ICS AK74." "No, that's an ak47" I cringed, hard.

    What 1911?

TM is the only 1911 worth buying, you really need the plastic slide with the tiny mags.

  23. if that were the case though, we'd all be using G&G combat machines.... there's no argument that a properly modded systema PTW is BETTER than pretty much anything else going. Sure you can pour money into an AEG and getting it performing nearly as well as a PTW, but you'll never achieve the instant trigger response that a PTW has, certainly not without creating a 50RPS monster which is pretty pointless in itself. That and the improved materials, real-spec grips and receivers... I can see why people buy them. I personally have invested heavily into the TM recoil platform and probably won't move away from it to a PTW unless a really really attractively priced package comes my way. I'm planning to upgrade my TM M4 to get as close as I can to PTW trigger response without outrageous ROF and it's looking like I'm going to need to sink ~£300 into what's already a £600 gun to get there. Another £300 and I could have bought a PTW.

  24. V2 gearbox and M4 hopup is the worst possible choice for a DMR. V2 is veak - you need an aluminum CNC version if you want it really strong, and the m4 hopup is the least accorate of them all. I would use an M14 platform. That is the best choice for a DMR - and also the smallest GB so you can fit it in any custom body.

  25. Thought the exact same when I got my TLR-1 a few years ago, the difference in the output and the unit itself is astronomical. It's not like it's even a budget thing, with the amount I wasted on Element stuff that literally fell apart all by itself without any external input, I could've bought another real light.

    this gun any good

It's another G&G Combat machine. They are all the same. The G&G Combat Machine range are decent for the price. Therefore all G&G Combat Machines are good.

  30. Have access to cnc and manual lathe and mill. Autoclave. Minor rapid prototype... And working with carbon isn't an issue. The rifle would be a better designed SL9 based on an M4 build... Same disassembly, etc. Thankfully the workings are all self contained, so once they are bedded in, the rest is pretty simple... I'm liking the cosplay idea... Would be helpful to get your mould... Good call!

  31. Try these quick pouches. The mag literally just slides in and out and holds tight! I've never had a mag fall out. Plus they are much quieter then pulling Velcro open! They look great on a belt if your looking for a lightweight type of loadout. At £12 a pair you will struggle to find anything cheaper. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400615118432 I run these for my scar h (6 pouches/3 pairs £36 is cheap as chips)

  32. I think the sport is based on fun, sometimes people take it too far but I just remind myself that we are all grown ups (Well most) who go out & play soldiers. If you cant see the comedy in that then I think deep down your dead inside. I'm still new to the sport & my son is just old enough to go, he watches more experienced players & takes orders from others pretty well, we both do what we can & sometimes take shots for the team......we are there for fun at the end of the day & if we ever forget that then I think it would be time to quit playing. In regards to Cod-softers, I don't have an issue with them. They are going out for the day, making friends & being sociable is always better than sitting in their rooms playing Xbox all day & thinking they are great. like others have said, people have to start somewhere, why not COD/Battlefield ?

  36. Internally those two should be identical, so I'd just go with whatever you like the look of more as they're both good guns. For batteries I'd go with 7.4v LIPO's, you'll need to do a bit of research beforehand to learn how to use them safely (they catch fire/explode if charged/discharged incorrectly), but they'll have a better performance then NiMH's. One of the best places for batteries and chargers is http://componentshop.co.uk/ I use this charger: http://www.componentshop.co.uk/accucel-6-digital-charger.html Will charge almost all types of battery including LIPO and LIFE, this version requires a 12v car battery to power it, the slightly more expensive version comes with a mains adapter.

  38. No, you can still possess them once your UKARA runs out, not buy new ones however. as for being stopped by the police, proof that you're a regular skimisher (UKARA) isn't a legal requirement there either.. HOWEVER, having a UKARA number very likely will make things a lot easier for you in that situation. You might also want to carry a little note with the name, address and phone number to the site that you're travelling to or from, so they can call and confirm..

  39. Personally, I ain't got no issues with codsofters at all. Ok so they're weapons look aweful and sometimes they don't really know the rules BUT we all started somewhere. That aside a lot of the time I admire they're attitude. They have that raw niavity which guarantees that they will enjoy they're day no matter what. A lot of the time where I play it's them who do a lot of the running around and break up any stalemates. On the subject of running, on average they are a lot lot fitter than most of us and this is they're greatest advantage. While we are sat at desks Monday to Friday, these guys play football in the school playground. They also weigh up to 3 times less than us and have not had 2 decades worth of fry up/cigarettes/Booz. The end result is most of them can run the pants off us. Call me a fool but surely a kid with a rental is more deadly than a fat bastard with a systema??? Last year my team picked up 4th of 12 teams at the annual billericay woodland competition. My team were absolutely nakered by the end few games but the kids were running around like we had just started. They actually won the entire tournament with an average age of about 11-12. I'd be worried if these guys started taking it seriously as the rest of us would struggle to keep up with these light feet fairies lol Hope more of em join the game overall :-)

    First rifle

This is NOT a good choice for a first rifle. http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/product_info.php?cPath=268&products_id=8296&osCsid=bd5296770e1832cdf7068553b3321e6e GBB means gas blockback. Not nearly as reliable, takes a lot more care, more expensive to run, mags will be expensive, rare 2nd hand mags, only lowcaps available etc. etc. My opinion is that you should own at least 2 AEGs (primary and spare) before getting a GBB. At least if you intend to skirmish. GBB are plenty fun thou, but get your AEGs first! and if I started out and wanted reliability (as oppose to m4-tacticoolness), I'd choose CYMA AK, the VFC/LCT clones (such as CM.045 or CM.048). Will be way more reliable than anything else you can get at a beginners budget. Great out the box performance as well.

    Scar H mag pouches

Any 7.62 pouch will fit it. SR25, HK417, M14 etc. There will be no set pouch for just a Scar H as the size is simmilar to most others of the same calibre.

  50. In September, I was paired with a young lad, maybe as young as ten (parents were on site and in the game) and he was brilliant! He listened to me when I was communicating to him, he made a few good suggestions....he even took down a guy with an m60e with a Cyma mp5 hire gun! He lay down cover fire and didn't rush in like an idiot....wasn't even my son and I was still proud haha!!! Only had one bad experience with a Codsofter. He had a bright green m4a1 (SRC I beleive) and he wouldn't take his hits....even if it was painfully obvious that he had been hit from only a few feet away. Needless to say, most of the hires were lads on a stag do....the Codsofter suffered afterwards! He became the objective for every mission. Marshall: 'Ah right lads, you're aim is to defuse the bomb in under ten minutes' Stag members: 'No, we're going to kill that little shit with the green rifle!'
