HATE IT when people wont turn off because of some water. hate it hate it hate it. Seriously, man up! despite me being quite outspoken against "realism", it really does get to me that we're supposedly playing soldiers. Soldiers who wont turn up if it's raining.

Basically, buy a two tone and then "use the gun so much the paint rubbed off" read as: Rub the paint off. Or paint over it. Personally I'd rub it off because adding more paint just looks shit. Then see if you can count on one hand the number of people who give a fuck. I bet you can't. You're only going to be arrested for anything gun related, if you wave it about in public or try and rob someone/a shop/an institution with it. And in that instance, that's what you're going to be arrested and banged up for. Not painting it black when it should be blue. The law doesn't give shit number 1 about two tone laws, and neither does anyone else. There are too many stupid loop holes for you to jump through to avoid the charges, that the charges simply do not exist. No one in the history of ever, have been arrested and locked up for painting an airsoft gun, selling one to someone under the age of 18, or any of the other stuff that's been mentioned in this thread. The Association of Chief Police Officers have actually issued a statement which says the section of the VCRA with relation to RIFs, is unenforcible. Meaning they can't do anything to you, even if you're caught. Which is basically down to the fact that you will NEVER be caught, unless you walk down the street pointing it at someone, at which point, as I mentioned above, it'll be the fact that you did that, that you'll be getting nicked for. Get your dad to buy you a two tone, then do what you want with it. Possession isn't illegal. Painting one is, but who's going to know? Who's going to care if they do know? Who's going to "tell on you"? If anyone does, nothing will happen because there's nothing wrong with owning a RIF. The whole two tone debate is so pointless that I can't believe I even bothered writing all this down, it isn't worth the time or effort to talk about.

Doesn't matter though, even the limited recoil of airsoft moves the gun slightly putting you slightly off target, anything to reduce that is a benefit. Not hugely but a bit nonetheless. I find that it reduces the amount of sway in a gun a pretty large amount too. Normally you have the vast majority of the weight of the rifle supported by just the very bottom, holding the gun further out and higher up reduces that somewhat, kind of like holding a hockey stick- if you held just the bottom, it's got more mass that can become unstable, hold it half way and it's much less likely. I don't hold rifles in the full-on thumb over bore style but I tend to hold them much further forward than normal, since my old m14 gave me no choice but to do that as the weight was so far forwards I just carried it over onto pretty much every things else, it's more tiring over extended periods but definitely keeps the rifle more solidly planted in the shoulder.

They decide that they can't really force everyone to give back the toy guns they already have, so they don't make owning them illegal. They also realise that nobody is probably going to realise or care if they made buying them illegal, so they don't do that either. Instead they just make it illegal to sell, import or manufacture them. They also seem to think nobody needs them for anything useful at all, though another quick consultation (this one seems to effectively been a brainstorm they made on a piece of A4) leads them to the conclusion that some people might need them, but the only people who might possibly have any decent use for realistic toy guns are people working in film, TV or stage, re-enactors or people who the Queen asked to go and buy them as part of their job. So they give these guys a 'pass,' and essentially add in to the new law that these guys will be breaking the law like everyone else, but they can't be prosecuted for doing so. The Violent Crime Reduction Act (VCRA) 2006 is passed. Job done, everyone's happy. Or so they think. - Early 2007: Airsoft retailers kick off. "Oh my days blud!" They shout. "What dem man gone done?" They (leading retailers like Zeroone, Airsoft World, Landwarrior, etc.) form a group: The United Kingdom Airsoft Retailers Association (UKARA), because forming a group and getting an acronym instantly makes you feel like you've got big boy pants on. They get a sit-down with the lawmakers and explain what airsoft is and how their livelihoods will be severely affected when the new law comes into play in October. The lawmakers pretend they know what UKARA are talking about whilst they're actually saying to each other: "Oh, I say! 'Airsoft?' How ridiculously absurd!" They show their confusion (and the fact that they seem to think that these UKARA chaps are some sort of tribal lords who have complete control over all airsoft events and retail in the UK) by getting the Home Secretary to add another 'defence' to the list. By the time they get round to this they've actually forgotten what airsoft is, so they just write it down as something to do with "military and law enforcement scenarios." They then reassure themselves that it's all going to be cool because the UKARA tribal council has agreed to set up a database of people they trust and they're only going to sell to them. Obviously, since the UKARA are the only people who are ever going to sell anyone realistic looking toy guns, there will never be any problems ever. - October 2007: Virtually all violent crime in the UK is ended thanks to the VCRA. - 2007-Present: 99% of airsofters have literally no clue what the VCRA and UKARA are all about. They keep arguing about what 'defences you need to buy' without realising that this makes no sense whatsoever. They quote stuff that the UKARA has made up, like "regular skirmisher," as if it was something to do with the actual law. Additionally, 99.9% of UK politicians and police also have no idea what the VCRA and UKARA are all about, however most people on airsoft forums are convinced that 'we're being watched,' 'our sport in under threat,' 'the Home Secretary has us under scrutiny,' etc. This is all true. Teresa May does nothing all day but read airsoft forums in the hope of gathering enough evidence to finally shut us down.

One thing to remember in the rain is to have decent mesh goggles. Even if your not a fan of mesh, switching to a pair in the rain gives you a major advantage over those using perspecs specs, as even the best glases will steam up or catch droplets on the outside. A Digger hat (or boonie) with some mesh goggles and you will be like shooting fish in a barrel.

Let me re-phrase my point in that case; No one has ever had a policeman walk into their house without there being a reason for it, see a gun, say, "SHOULD THAT BE BLUE?" for you to then stupidly say, "Erm, yeah" and which point he'll go, "YOU'RE NICKED SANSHOINE!" Doesn't happen.

Why do you even think an officer will just randomly pull a perfectly legal driver over and ask to inspect your bag to hope he would find an RIF. Jesus Christ man, the police have better things to do! They're public servants that don't get enough praise. If you are really scared, do these things; get a gun bag, drive safely, build a positive relationship with an employee/ owner of the skirmish site. You're covered from all ends there then. My advice? Wait a few years. Buy a cheap second hand, enjoy it, learn how to use guns properly, learn how to maintain and service rifles, upgrade it ( if you want ) and learn to become your own technician. THEN buy a gun worth lots of £££. By then you will be able to afford it, you will be old enough, and most importantly you will have the knowledge required to successfully maintain and understand the correct use of an AEG.

I like that style of grip. I use an AFG on my rifle and its designed to be held that way. My block II M4 is pretty front heavy and holding it like that is far more comfortable than arm further in. Much quicker to aquire targets too as it gives much better "pointability" and control.

I may have my black battery wire clip thing somewhere, I'll keep an eye out for it as I don't use it.

Just checked, mine still has the moving sound inside it when tilted. Worth noting that on the 3 TM scars I've seen the stocks have been very stiff on each and the buttons are a bit 'mushy', I don't think it's a fault with yours.

AirsoftEire in Dundalk have the Recoil scars for 470 pounds, pricey because of the gubmit taxing us to death,but you can have a feel of it and test it. Last time I was in store they had a box of Scar Heavies but that was before I left for ukraine in May.

Scrim scarf- Protects the neck, allows airflow keeping you cool, can be used to wipe goggles etc and if you need to hide in a bush you can drape it over your head for improved camo.

Do you actually read the answers to your questions? The person has to `gift' the gun to you. That means they get nothing in return. Taking your cash for a worthless item would not work if they were to be caught. No one is allowed to sell you a two-tone or RIF but they could sell your parents a two-tone. If you look on the sales section of the forum you will see that sellers want proof of your defence (normally UKARA number) before they will sell as it is their responsibility.

You're firing your pistol on your own property, I doubt the neighbours would be bothered by you shooting a neon coloured handgun on your own property. But if it does ever happen, the police won't care, they'd be more concerned about the neighbours reporting people for making noise.

You should also try Spartan, which is up by the airport. It's a much better site. Black ops is okay but I find it a bit too paintbally with the big plastic containers etc. Black ops Portishead is not bad but everything is covered in paint as it's a smaller site shared with paintballers (messy b'stards). Also worth a look is Bristol Airsoft, its a relatively small indoor site in the old Magistrates court on Bridewell street. SimonQuigley and I are going down there on Wed (13th). The great thing about Bristol Airsoft is that it's possible to go on Tues, Wed or Thurs evenings as well as Sundays. Indoor airsoft does however involve a fair bit more pain, due to the shorter engagement distances

300? Amateur! It's come from a real steel shooting technique designed to help with controlling recoil but it's just fashion/dumbassery in airsoft.

The Bowman usually have a military style connector which plugs into the PTT. The PTT in turn will plug into the radio. They usually have something like a Kenwood or Motorola 1-pin connector. If you are happy with the restrictions of PMR446, then Motorola do some nice radios. Rotary volume knob and easy channel selection when radio is in its pouch is a good idea. Failing that, the next step up is a Baofeng UHF set which is cheap, has a 4W output and a Kenwood socket. However to use this legally, you need a business light licence which will cost £75 for 5 years.

Most PTT's will fit as long as they are the same brand. If you want another radio, get motorola TLKRs, they are good
