My name is Al and im from North London, I have been skirmishing for a few months now as my brother has introduced me to the sport and I am slowly building up kit. I have a few questions regarding my next big purchase and kit and will be interested in customising a Rifle in the very near future so expect a lot of silly questions from me I know forums are a great way to get advice and guidance about things so here I am. Hopefully I shall be contributing to the forum in a positive way. Thanks and HELLO!!2 points

Showing my age but . . . . . A LS M655 kit (basically a M16A2 fixed stock carbine) around 1984, cost £25. All ABS plastic, glue and screw together, spring cocking, no hop, prob 180fps tops! Bought from my local model shop when I was 14 and "RIF" and 2 tone wasn't even thought of! First proper gun was a TM MP5K PDW around 1990.2 points -

Forum Rules
TheCollector reacted to Deva for a topic
Anyone not cohering with these rules will face a suspension, ban or deletion of their account, this includes all posts and topics. The Guidelines • Search There is a search feature on this forum that will help you to find information that may have already been posted up. Often people experience very similar problems so the chances are that your question has already been answered is highly likely. Regulars to the forums will usually be aware if your question has already been answered several times before, so some may become annoyed you didn't use the search feature. There is a three character minimum length for searching, i.e. MP5, hpa, fps. Try using different search terms to get more results. • Giving advice Give solid advice only if you are sure what you are talking about. Don't mislead people as at best you are risking their money, and at worst, you are risking their safety. It's much better to say your only guessing and let others add to your answer than to lead the person into doing something wrong, and coming back and pointing the finger at you. • Post in the appropriate sub-forums If you want to chat about the latest Airsoft releases, do it in "Latest News". If you are new to the forums and want to ask a question, it might be best in the "Advice & Technical Help" forum. If you want to sell something, the "Classifieds" forums are the place to announce it. Basically, have a look at all the categories and post where you think your topic will be best suited. • Use descriptive titles for new topics Posting a topic with the title "Look here!", or "Please help", will not attract the attention of the users. If you use titles like "JG G36C gearbox problem", or "New gun from ICS!", more people will view your post and will know what they are about look at. Do not post titles in ALL CAPS, do not post misleading titles ("clickbait"). • Use good English and check your spelling! "1337-Speak" should also not be used on these boards. Nor should "text speak", use your word processing software to check for basic spelling and grammar errors, we aren't looking for the best English, but it is a lot easier to read a checked post, than another like, "hi, wel i av a prob wiv me gun u c nd i dnt no wot 2 do". Adding punctuation, full stops and commas make it easier to read. • Use Personal Mail (PM) Instead of posting in a Sales / Swaps topic which will cause it to 'bump' that topic just use your PM to communicate asking and answering questions. Sellers should be aware that any post, for whatever reason (especially answering questions or making a comment), that are before the 7 days is considered a bump. If you cannot receive PM then try deleting some old ones to free up space. • Caps lock Do not post in all Caps lock as it looks like you are shouting at somebody and is also very annoying to read. Topic and advert titles are to be in normal sentence case, not in all CAPITALS. • Don't post duplicate topics Multiple topics started about the same thing may be deleted, merged or moved at the moderators' or my discretion. If you intend on using the Classifieds forum you must read and follow the rules • Use "Smileys" effectively "Smileys" can be used in your forum posts. If you are joking about something, use them to help indicate that your statement was made humorously. They can be used to indicate your mood and show that something was not meant to be taken seriously. If you don't use them, people will assume you are being serious. Arguments have broken out before because of a misunderstood joke. • No Arguing Don't argue, if you feel offended by the comments of another user or believe a post is offensive, report it to the moderators, and they or I will be deal with it. Starting a fight may result in sanctions for all those involved. Our first decision is our final one! • Be nice to other forum users Treat others as you would like to be treated to yourself. There is absolutely no need to be abusive on these forums. If you are then your posts / topics will be edited or deleted, you may be given a warning, you may get your account suspended, and persistent offenders will be banned. • Post Spam Don't post just to raise your post count, there is no bonus in it, and moderators will become frustrated with the spam. Continued post spamming will result in a suitable sanction. • Be Constructive If you don't have something constructive to add to a thread then don't post at all. This applies especially in the "Classifieds" section, if you have something to say, PM it to the seller. Comments like "good luck with the sale" or "nice gun" are also not appreciated. Repeatedly ignoring these guidelines when you post, may lead to your posts or account being moderated/edited. If you intend on using the Classifieds forum you must read and follow the rules Forum Rules The following are rules that must be adhered to. Failure to follow these rules will attract the attention of the forum moderators. All moderators are friendly people and follow the rules laid out to them, they are there to enforce the forums rules, if you have a problem with a particular moderator please PM me "proffrink" personally. • Thread bashing/trolling There will be some posts or threads in the forum that you may not like. If you dislike somebody's thread or some of the people participating in the discussion simply don't bother reading or replying to it. Posting/trolling in it with the sole purpose of having it closed (bashing) will not be tolerated. • Off topic Try to stay close to the original topic of a certain thread as much as you can. If you wish to talk about something else make a new topic, do not use an existing one. Remember to use the search function as there may already be a topic for what you wish to talk about. • Spam Adding posts that contribute nothing to the conversation (spam) will be deleted or merged with a previous post. Do not "bump" your threads by posting irrelevant information or just "bump". It is spam and will be deleted. Continuous spamming will result in warning points being added to your account, a suspension, or a ban from the forums. • Advertising No one is to use their account to place advertisements in their signature, avatar or any posts. Anyone caught will have their account, including all posts and topics deleted. They may also be banned by IP depending on the seriousness of the offence. Retailers / shops are not to place any adverts in the Classifieds. A shop can create one topic in the Places to Buy section, using the shop name as a title, with a link to your website. • Duplicate Accounts Each user is only allowed one account. Duplicate accounts take up valuable system resources and annoy other forum users. It is very easy to spot duplicate accounts created or used by the same person, and any duplicate accounts found will be removed. Breaking the following rules will result in an immediate IP ban, deletion of account and removal of all posts and topics. • Absolutely NO References glorifying or inciting drug-misuse References glorifying or inciting criminal behaviour or violence Images or videos of graphic violence Images or videos of an adult or graphically sexual nature Images or videos that show drug misuse • Racial, Sexual and Religious Equality This site makes no discrimination between people of different race, sex, or religion. Airsoft is a sport for all, and these forums reflect that. We welcome everyone except those who demonstrate intolerance toward others. • Illegal/Banned Subjects You cannot discuss anything that will help someone break the law in his or her locale. This means talking about: How to evade paying tax on imported goods How to make a semi-automatic replica shoot fully-automatic in a country that does not allow this feature How to make your own or modify pyrotechnics How to get restricted items past customs How to get restricted items if you are under-age Any other illegal activities If you intend on using the Classifieds forum you must read the and follow the rules The link is very accessible from within the Classifieds forum if you wish to read the rules at a later date. What was your first ever airsoft weapon?
Ian_Gere reacted to Airsoft-Ed for a topic
My first ever airsoft gun I got when I was about 7, it was a spring copy of some weird Sig design that looked a bit like a Walther PPK or a Makarov. It was so easy to cock that I thought it was broken, and it was so shit that I was never sure it even worked lol. It used to fire less than a foot and BBs could literally come out of the barrel at 90° So I tend to discount it... I got a spring P228 when I was about 13, it was actually pretty good tbh, cost about £30, ejection port opened and everything. I ended up with 4 or 5 spring pistols along the same line, including an M9, a Desert Eagle, a S&W M1911 type thing, and a USP that actually had a slide lock feature lol. Still got the Desert Eagle lol, still works. It's actually not that bad either. Also had a spring Uzi, which I also still have, and I had a spring M16, which was just crap in every sense of the word. The first airsoft gun that I would actually consider an airsoft gun - because when I got all the ones mentioned above, I didn't know what airsoft was, I just bought the guns because they were guns - was a WE M16A3 GBBR, one of the old closed bolt ones. My first ever post on this forum was actually asking about gas rifles, they're why I got into airsoft lol. Found some videos on YouTube, decided I needed one in my life, played airsoft as my means to get one, got one, realised airsoft was awesome in the process, and here I am. Incidentally, I recommend no one ever buying a GBBR as their first gun...1 point -

For lipos search hobby king or component shop... Measure your internal battery space and go from there For mosfets I recommend small companies or private MOSFET builders, I buy the HamsterFet, does everything I want and even has a self resetting fuse! If it's a private seller they get proper stress tests and QC tests, the same as the more expensive mosfets.1 point -

Not to sure on the make but I believe it was CYMA as it was full metal. An AK47 AEG for £50 at a bootsale brand new. (this was pre-VCRA). It was either that or a Double Eagle g36c I paid £20 for, memory isn't too hot! The first "proper" gun I got was a JG bar 10 Edit: http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/17250-what-was-your-first-airsoft-gun-would-you-ever-sell-it/1 point -

TM AK47S Ex rental. Memory is spotty on it,but It was in very rough shape. Stock broken off, receiver cracked, handguards held on with tape, shit ton of screws missing,no sights,etc.. used it for about a year until I blew up the fuse(Somehow) decided I got enough use out of it and threw it in a bin. Was a nice enough gun. Being in Ireland TM are just about the best thing bar upgraded guns since they're noticeably better at 1J than a lot of other stock guns Replaced that with a CYMA M4 CQBR than I had for a few months before I had to return it because it,well, disintegrated and was a massive lemon in general. Then got a TM VSR and here I am now.1 point -

I wish I'd visited this site before I made the mistake of making a purchase from bbguns4less.co.uk - they overcharged me, the kit was very poor quality and customer service is non-existent. I've sent them countless emails and tried calling them but they are just ignoring me as they seem to do with everyone after they have the money. Scammers and charlatans... allegedly. The owner of the company, Jonathan Crick, also owns bungeetrampoline.com - if his safety record is anything like his business ethics then I wouldn't let my kids within 5 miles of his equipment. I'll do some proper research here before buying anything else - if by some miracle bbguns4less.co.uk realise that in the internet age unhappy customers can warn lots of people about dodgy practices then I will update my post.1 point

Please help fast with this gun finding problem...
Airsoft_Mr B reacted to Airsoft-Ed for a topic
Also, and I cannot stress this enough - so I'll use bold, italics and underline to help me - ...oh and caps: DO NOT BUY SOMETHING SH!T BECAUSE YOU'RE IMPATIENT. Seriously... Whoops... Seriously, remove the notion from your mind that you need a gun. You don't. You need more money. Spending £80 on an airsoft gun is a bit like spending £80 on toilet paper, because it'll end up down the poo chute either way. Save up until you can get a Combat Machine, because anything cheaper than that, simply won't be skirmishable. If you spend under £80 on some horrible orange monstrosity from the likes of JBBG, people will see you at a game and think you are "that guy" they will know that you have ignored people's advice against your better judgement, and they will think you're a tit for it. You would literally be better off hiring a gun from the site than buying something like that.1 point -

Getting an rif under 18
rexfan10 reacted to Airsoft-Ed for a topic
Let me re-phrase my point in that case; No one has ever had a policeman walk into their house without there being a reason for it, see a gun, say, "SHOULD THAT BE BLUE?" for you to then stupidly say, "Erm, yeah" and which point he'll go, "YOU'RE NICKED SANSHOINE!" Doesn't happen.1 point -
Getting an rif under 18
Jedi_Master reacted to Airsoft-Ed for a topic
Basically, buy a two tone and then "use the gun so much the paint rubbed off" read as: Rub the paint off. Or paint over it. Personally I'd rub it off because adding more paint just looks shit. Then see if you can count on one hand the number of people who give a fuck. I bet you can't. You're only going to be arrested for anything gun related, if you wave it about in public or try and rob someone/a shop/an institution with it. And in that instance, that's what you're going to be arrested and banged up for. Not painting it black when it should be blue. The law doesn't give shit number 1 about two tone laws, and neither does anyone else. There are too many stupid loop holes for you to jump through to avoid the charges, that the charges simply do not exist. No one in the history of ever, have been arrested and locked up for painting an airsoft gun, selling one to someone under the age of 18, or any of the other stuff that's been mentioned in this thread. The Association of Chief Police Officers have actually issued a statement which says the section of the VCRA with relation to RIFs, is unenforcible. Meaning they can't do anything to you, even if you're caught. Which is basically down to the fact that you will NEVER be caught, unless you walk down the street pointing it at someone, at which point, as I mentioned above, it'll be the fact that you did that, that you'll be getting nicked for. Get your dad to buy you a two tone, then do what you want with it. Possession isn't illegal. Painting one is, but who's going to know? Who's going to care if they do know? Who's going to "tell on you"? If anyone does, nothing will happen because there's nothing wrong with owning a RIF. The whole two tone debate is so pointless that I can't believe I even bothered writing all this down, it isn't worth the time or effort to talk about.1 point -
The problem with someone saying Goggle 'X' is or isn't comfortable is that everyones face is a different shape. What may be fine for you could be hideously uncomfortable for others. I would personally suggest either something like the ESS V12 Advancer goggles or something more like the Bolle X1000/X800 range which have a thicker foam seal which should conform more easily to your face. Boogie regulators were only really designed as jump goggles for parachuting anyway so they're designed to be very low profile which isn't always conducive to comfort.1 point
