  2. I've noticed a fair bit of that in this thread. If anybody is going to post something and then link to a site in HK, they really need to bear in mind the $40+ in shipping, then 20% VAT then handling charges and maybe import fees (cost dependant). Just saying that you can get something cheaper from WGC or eHobby etc is pointless if you only mention the base price.

  3. After looking at someones bb bottle in the safe zone for about five mins I had to ask " why have you got green tea flavour bb's?" ...as the words left my mouth I remembered mine were in a old Irn bru bottle, but at least got to watch his face as he worked out how to explain it was just a bottle and his bbs weren't flavoured

That "clicky adjuster" makes it far more comfortable. Sometimes it really is worth paying a bit extra. FMA for my money.

  6. Cheapest thing is going to be either mesh goggles or shooting glasses. If you want actual goggles look for army surplus ESS Advancer V12s or Revision Bullet Ant - Should be able to find them for around the £25 mark. Whatever you do just don't pick up the cheapest pair of unbranded goggles on ebay as there is a chance a BB could punch right through them. Trusted brands are: Bolle, ESS, Revision, Oakley and Smith Optics(probably a couple more, those are the ones I remember) - The lenses should be rated EN166 or ANSI Z87

  7. Walking between games at my local, see a kid (couldn't have been much older than 15/16) trying out another player's fast helmet, kid then utters "It's so light, the one I have at home is made of kevlar and is way heavier". Sure, of course it is... Earlier in the day, same kid is spotted during the safety brief giving his younger brother who was less than 4ft tall, and not even 13 years old, what looked like a lolly...until out comes a matchbox and the younger brother sits their casually lighting up o.O We all sit at the other side of the brief jaws dropped.

    New gun. Recoil shock?

Systemas aren't anything massively special in stock form, certainly not range/accuracy wise; they don't perform impossible feats of physics defying-ness that no other AEG can perform. Its' highly debated and there are many arguments and defendants on both sides, some say the hop unit they use is a lot worse than your average V2 AEG, some say otherwise. Either way, the range and accuracy you'll get from a TM that's less than half the price of a PTW will certainly be at least very close, if not potentially much better. Not as good trigger response, but that can be improved on down the line if you really find the stock gun so lacking in that respect and use a lot of semi. Plus you get blowback and recoil with a much more tactile bolt catch on the TM guns. Though PTWs do of course have that really easy quick swap cylinder which is nice. The 416 is one of the best options for a recoil gun if you're shooting lefty; AFAIK it's the only AR style recoil gun with ambi selectors. Bolt release is only on the left side of the gun though and that can't be changed, not sure if any ambi mag releases will fit. The SCAR has ambi mag release, only 1 side for the bolt release. The G36s have no bolt catch/stop on empty and both the selectors and mag release are ambi.

  16. That's not what the law says though. Ticking gift doesn't mean much, you're only exempt import VAT if the value declared (for the items and shipping combined) is less than £15 and customs believe it. What matters is how much the store you buy from fudges the value on the paperwork; also how much the particular customs person checking your package that day actually cares to question it.

  17. i think the problem is, these people buy their guns from on site shops that sell the guns for ridicules amounts of money. for example we g17's at my site shop are £120 but ik i could buy one new for £85 on the web,

    New gun. Recoil shock?

There's been one or two threads along these lines recently. Basically they are reliable guns, pretty accurate and are fun to shoot. When I talk about accuracy I mean hitting man sized target easily at 50 metres on a measured range with a bit of wind. Not "my gun outranges everyone on site because i've decided it's true" which you see a lot in airsoft To me they are worth the money, but it's up to you to decide if you'd rather get a recoil shock or maybe spend less and get a cheaper gun shooting really nicely instead.

  24. its 7.2v old skool he has probably got in there - a lipo could be worth looking at 7.4v lipo or 8,4v - not 9.6v ffs Yeah I noticed his guns were mainly plinkers but they might be fine to do plinking with and I don't wanna be too harsh on OP coz I made same mistakes like many at first yes I thought could of got a nice starter ?&? M4 - trying to reduce my usual same ol' same ol' replies but if all he is doing is plinking then they are probably ok to mess about with though if OP was gonna get into it more he really should look at going up a level
    1 point
  25. 2 words sir..... BIN IT soz if that sounds harsh but it won't last - won't last very long if you increase voltage too much it has a plastic - brittle plastic gearbox and youtube is full of them self destructing on 11.1v lipo's so stick to 7.2v or 8.4v - or 7.4v lipo but that is it the stock will probably have a phillips screw - remove back of stock probably bast to slide the poor 416 style crane stock back and latch it further then it will slide off completely down that tube will be a phillips screw to tighten the stock tube back on refit once tightened etc.... that is presuming you got the crane 416 stock on that bulldog (some 805's which that is rebadged have a fixed stock on them) btw I bought that gun - its ok for plinking but wouldn't spend too much money n time on it

  26. It is overpriced, however with both alternative links you posted, you've not taken into account customs tax etc, which would bring them to more like £350 for the GHK and £90 for the Hi Capa...

    Choosing combat shirt

Having owned and still own the Crye AC and Massif ACS, I would say go with the Massif. Its super comfortable and a really rugged well built combat shirt plus you can get them really cheap on ebay now. The Crye AC is a nice shirt but its expensive and hard to justify sometimes. I also prefered the material the Massif shirts are made from compared to the Crye. Its like an elasticy stretch material compared to Cryes which is what a normal jacket/trousers are made from.

    Some advice?

I think the firearms act covers the definition of an IF (and therefore an RIF), basically saying anything capable of lethal or grevious harm than is an IF and anything incabable of such is an imitation Lines in with my experience, after a family friend was carjacked using an air pistol. After the cops found him, they tested the gun and found it was capable of causing serious harm, and so he was charged with armed robbery instead of just a minor offence.

  34. Flip up covers are naff. Get a polycarbonate one custom cut and fit it to the front by removing the lens retainer and dropping it in with an o-ring to offset it from the objective lens a little: You're looking at a fiver and 15 minutes of your time. Plus no one will be able to tell that you even have one.

    Some advice?

Its largely up to the retailer how they interpret "defence". If he chooses to sell to you on that basis its up to him and we can debate if its right or wrong but its just words. The defence is for him not you, Its not illegal to buy and own airsoft RIFs for adults. However, you might find that most of the airsoft trade will want a UKARA registration as defence so your choice of supplier will be limited. In my experience, its only gun shops who sell firearms, air rifle and dabble in fringe airsoft that consider firearms licences suitable for airsoft.

  40. Guy selling M249 on facebook sales page. Says he needs money quick. Ask about age of the gun "dunno mate" FPS of gun "dunno mate" no mods or extras. I give him an offer of £150 as its around 60% of RRP. "I'm looking for more like £200 mate" Tell him that you can get them new for less with a warranty. Says whatever after me telling him that its a fair price for a gun that has unknown age and FPS but then about 45 mins later comes back with £160. Many chuckles were had.

    Some advice?

As Mack said. Whilst it makes sense for someone who has access to a real firearm and who has proven that they understand the care needed in owning, transporting and operating a firearm to have access to the big boys toys that they are, neither UKARA or the legislation works that way, and you need to either make the hire-gun pilgrimage or put up with two tone like the rest of us (or explore the alternative routes which are detailed elsewhere)

  49. +1 on that, I went collage did Motorsport mechanics couldn't get a job after I finished, thought about going to uni and progressing through that field but while phoning around for temp mechanic jobs for something on the side they said they wanted experience. How can I get experience if no1 will employ someone with minimum experience? So knocked that on the head, started working at an engineering company, worked my way up, now at 23 I program and setting CNC machines and tell people twice my age how to use them. Always try get involved in a job you don't know even if your just watching as you will pick up a lot of things. The people twice my age have never seemed interested in doing that and that's why they now come to me to sort there problems. People have joined from uni with there fancy degrees, but in the real world they don't know nothing, they are good at the job on paper but have no real experience on the machines. Many have come and all have left.
