Seeing as you have to be 18 to legally buy an airsoft gun I'd say it's pretty important.

  6. Real cap mags are for that extra realism i guess. But i think being that its all toy guns, i might as well treat it like a segal movie and not have to reload for an unrealistic amount of time lol Going to my first milsim with okto 8 in december and have a longmoor game next week. Personally, i dont enjoy haphazard nature of a skirmish. I want an objective. Still, its toy guns, and choice.

Yes, hours of not finding anything. On the plus side, I have now given some thought to having a shotgun. Cheap and fun.

  12. Just picked up a G&G GC 30th anniversary as a base, then I intend on stripping it and starting over, as I've had suppliers send me parts to help with the build I'll be making the thread as a beginners guide to HPA, calling out where i got parts, what parts I recommend, any issues I've had and general FAQ's I can cover since starting in HPA. Hopefully will start on wednesday once the gun turns up. Aiming for a DMR build

  14. I wear my House Stark T-shirt and hoody, " Winter is Coming" and look to warm indoor sites. It will be an opportunity to catch up on all the porn... Adult gun sites that I have been neglecting in the summer, and start preparing my Christmas wish list of new clothes and kit. Have seen some loveley Crye Precision trousers for less than a new gun . Now where did I put that JBBG catalogue? On a more serious note, winter will be the time to start working extra hours to buy all the new kit for next year as well as building up some time off for the summer.

  16. In a time of austerity the airsoft community needs to take the hit as well and do what it can to help. Having seen the sheer number of used BBs just lying unwanted on the ground I have decided to start collecting them up and will selling bottles of used BBs at discounted prices. Each bottle will contain genuine used BBs in a variety colours and weights from all major and minor manufacturers. Unlimited stock levels for one additional free bottle with each order just quote you UKARA license number. Key advantages as follows: Colour mix - great for confusing the opposition team into thinking there are more players shooting at them because of all the different colours. Tracer BBs included at no extra cost. Hassle free hop set-up - mixed weights will mean that there will always be some BBs in each bottle perfectly suited to your gun, simples. Aerodynamic performance - some BBs may have small dents and dimples just like golf balls and so they will fly further and faster than smooth BBs! Environmentally friendly - used BBs save the planet's plastic resources and is an example of true recycling (supported by European Green parties). Nearly new condition - used BBs are almost as good as new ones, having only been fired once so mint condition, a real bargain. Proven track record - used BBs have already been fired which proves that they are fully working. So, if you want to receive your bottle of used BBs (as well as help save the environment and do your bit for austerity) then click the LIKE button. [Note: if you think this is a serious thread, then please read it again, and reset your sarcasm filter. ]

  17. So the cold, damp and dreary weather approaches, much like summer when I think about it... So the question is how do the good members of the forum prepare for winter? Which kit do you swap out or modify and why? What has experience taught you and what cunning tricks do you know to beat Jack frost? Please do share your wealth of knowledge with us.

Like I said man, you can buy about 600,000 Bulldog .12gs for that. Rubber band and an appropriately shaped twig or maybe a straw and you'll be blatting away at 100fps in no time.

  23. Actually 2 of them are normally in the £370/£380 mark. Not sure why the 56-2 comes up as £299.99 I took the price from the front page http://www.wolfarmouries.co.uk/airsoft/bb/gun.asp?page=realsword £380 the average price. Yes the Krytac is under 300 by a whole £5 but the range in general are over £300 (spr/pdw). Wasnt disagreeing with you on the Krytac. I used the Krytac to point out a lot of peoples mistrust of anything new and the way people cling to the so called tried and trusted. That was mainly for the op and post in general. As for understanding your post, that was a bit pretentious and nasty. You have hurt my feelings and I am going to have to sulk now. ?

  27. Disagree the 3 guns I linked are all externally very good and internally are better than pretty much any stock gun. The quality of materials on all 3 is high inside and out. G&P externals are nice but only if you want an M4 style platform and the internals are garbage. Tm are still the best gbb pistols but aeg wise I think that a lot of it is fanboyism. They perform well wether its high cycle or recoil but there are better quality guns out there. Still love the recoils though. Airsofters are a bit blinkered to change sometimes which is why the krytac has been met with a bit of scepticism. I look at everything from an engineering point of view and quality trumps everything.

  28. I mean I know you should keep this in mind when reading any post here, but more so than ever - that's just one guys opinion. I say over £300 you're looking more at externals and I would use the extra £100 to upgrade your gun internally. If you're in it for the long haul, get something really flash looking for the £400 mark externally and then upgrade the internals over time. Either way, you should be upgrading. Some of the newer stuff is very, very competitive out of the box, but never the best you can get - for that you need to get more hands on.

  36. To prepare for winter I've got Heat shrink on all battery & rifle connectors then cover with black tape when connected. As I use crane stock batteries, I put a clear bag over stock & buffer tube then cable tie it on. Swap MTP to DPM with Norwegian army shirt & smock, a shemagh around my neck & my black boots Forgot one thing, I also use a DPM poncho which is attached by straps to my plate carrier

  37. My gear changes dramatically in the winter. I change to fingered gloves. More waterproof boots. Thermal underlayer. Wear a jacket over my combat top which typically is full camo not UBACs (ECWCS II). Replace cap/boonie for a camo watch hat which is warmer. I also stop using a pistol and move to hi caps, sticking one in a pocket and the other in the gun so I don't have a chest rig/assault vest at all. If I do carry anything else its in my pockets but usually its just a spare mag. Not sure if I will do it the same way this year, I might try and get some fighting gear on this winter if possible but my priority last time was reducing my sweat rate with less gear and keeping warm.

  42. I'm off to my 1st milsim in December where I'll be wearing my old issue dpm combats & boonie along with my £30 plate carrier but closer to £70 with what I put on it I'd rather go cheap & replace kit when it's worn out

  43. One man's excessive is another mans totally acceptable! If you can afford what you've bought without going hungry or into debt then personally I see no issue with the cost of your kit. Anyone that says otherwise is probably jealous (either of your disposable income or your gucci trousers).

  46. I was like a Warhammer 40k bad-boy as a kid, most my Dark Angel and Space Ork army was shop-lifted and I got banned from the Golden Demon Awards for underage drinking. Still got a set of original grey-knight terminators somewhere (the ones that were emperor's bodyguards or something), kept them as they were supposedly super-old/rare in the 90's, rest got an overnight dip in meth, paint pealed off and flogged. I think i can count on my hands the number of battles that I actually played and finished, play-time was usually over long before a clear victor was decided.

    Woodland sight

The very few times I played at Ravens I only took my M4 with a variable short dot - I never really needed all of the magnification and kept it on 1.5x most of the time. If it's just an AEG, then frankly a regular dot or holographic sight is enough and you won't need magnification. Ravens isn't a huge site anyway, but Gunman is a little larger and less forest-y (which I assume is the one you're on about too as it's the only one in Tuddenham). Either way, using a magnified optic is usually more hassle than it's worth and it's worth very little in most cases; it takes longer to aim with. The G&P M2 style aimpoints are very rugged, and there are loads of brands that make holographic knock-offs too which you could go for. I think WE still get decent reviews for theirs. I just bought a UTG 4.2" ITA after seeing some recommendations on here, but that was primarily because I've broken quite a few with blow back - on an AEG this isn't going to be much of an issue so go for what you like the look of. Those are quite cheap too if you look overseas.

  48. Hi Toneill, Did you do your custom paint yet? I recently did paint my Custom made Sniper scopecam and TM MK23 Socom. I used no primer, i just bought paint that is anti-rust. All are mat colors. I also bought silky mat transparant for coating it. I just get a leaf and or tree stick from outside and spray on it with the green....(the tm was black plastic already, just tape of the things you don't want to get green, like the trigger and so on). Then you will notice that it is too much green. then you take the same leaf or stick and spray black on it until it is balanced. i don't wait for it to get dry, i just directly paint over again. Then the Metal look part, i taped the area i don't want to paint on. Then spray the mat metal look on it. If you spray only the metal look on plastic it still look like plastic. To make it realistic you have to use indian ink. That ink stay's well. So what you do is put indian ink on it then use a tissue and wipe it out until some parts are smooth out blending in. Sometimes you have to redo over the same place to get the effect or sometimes you have to wait a few seconds to let the ink dry a bit then it stays better. Some parts you want to be darker then other parts. Let me know what you think of my job And if you have Questions i like to answer them the best i can.

  50. Whichever paint you use remember to degrease and clean first, wipe it over with some alcohol wipes or IPA. Also before you paint I always found dunking the tin in a measuring jug of warm water for a few min warms up the paint evenly and quickly giving a smoother lumpy less finish. And be paitent, painting isn't a quick 5min job, it takes time to do a good job. Days possibly weeks for paint to fully cure.
