Such a gun deserves a proper essential campo loadout. Details are important, right? Behold..... taaaa daaaa

Regardless of the temperature for efficiency and consistency you want to be using the smallest amount of gas possible to propel the BB at your desired FPS and reliably cycle the system ready for the next shot. What does this come down to? Air seals, Friction and Weight of dynamic parts, Work effort and Stability of materials in different temperatures. Air seals; Gas tight mag obv. Healthy gas route seal in mag. Mating fully with nozzle entry. Nozzle fully sealed in bucking. Air tight bucking. Floating valve closing fast and sealing. Piston lid seal that reacts fast, but doesn’t drag. BCG turning off the gas knocker, properly in time - not too early or late. Friction - freely moving, minimal contact, not side loading; Floating valve. Nozzle. Bolt. Buffer. Buffer spring. Weight of dynamic parts; Lightest nozzle, bolt, buffer. Work effort; A bucking that is too tight will hold the nozzle firmly requiring more effort to pull it out. A nozzle that isn’t free in the bolt or BBU will do the same. A piston lid seal that is too big or binding will also increase effort. A bolt that is poorly made will side load the receiver or buffer tube @Wild Weasel. Increased weight of dynamic parts. Stronger buffer springs. Materials like nylon etc have massive dimensional changes for small temperature changes, materials like these are best avoided. As a general rule all parts ‘flowing’ gas should be of high quality plastics to maintain the intended dimensions and best resist the effects of icing. Pretty much everything above could be broken down further. The short fix is the stock TM design is very good. Non of the buffer parts need to be ‘upgraded’, the buffer is very light in TM plastic, and the spring is suitable for all UK assault FPS (300-350). Yes fit a lightweight CNC bolt, the UAC ones are a nice fit. The stock nozzle and piston lid seal are fine, as is the stock bucking (within reason). Yes fit an NPAS or similar, plastic please, mod the TM one ideally. PS sorry you didn’t get around to actually doing your testing!

  3. @Wild Weasel Not to disappoint you but my consensus is to avoid all Angry Gun products as for now. There have just been so many problems reported in this thread over the years that some way or another cooked down to blaming a new Angry Gun part. Anyway, lets see if we can get that rifle up and running. I'd carefully file and round the inner edges of the buffertube to pose less friction as the BCG moves through. That is what I have done. I also invested in the bcg roller end but that was mostly for the satisfying sound. Hope that helps.

  4. Seriously what is wrong with me, I have ordered a TM M4 Sopmod and Gbbr G3. I hate spending money normally but here I am dropping a small fortune into this hobby. Looks like more weekend work for me.

Yes TechT on all your magazine O rings, and the piston lid seal. Gun oil on trigger set, and BCG to receiver PS you can generally wipe down the externals and clean all non rubber/silicone parts with the gun oil too. It serves as a cleaning agent, anti corrosion and lube all in one.

  9. A celebratory and excited return to Airsoft so thought I'd share some of my non-shooty kit. Yes there is a slight inspiration from our very own @GAMBLE here as he's covered some loadout videos recently but imitation is genuinely one of the highest forms of flattery ?

  10. 125cc's V2.0 loadout. Flying suit for a slightly more sci-fi look. Trying it out at skirmish on the 11th. Which one I decide to wear will be weather dependant ? P.S. excuse the yellow laces. They're the boots I use on the motorbike...

  15. Agreed. Going rate is roughly £40/mag plus £5 for ranger plates or dust covers. I just spent £750 on 8 of them... but that came with 2 free guns

  16. Got bored waiting for all the little bits of hardware for my grenade launcher to arrive so I made a basic sight arangement for it. This is more of a prototype. Ill make the final one from aluminium. with some sort of adjustment method. For now though Im just going to zero it for 50m and bolt it down.

Mine are all Gen2 mags and I’ve not done any mod to them. I can’t see the need to do a green gas mod or even change the O ring unless I have a leaky valve. I’ll stick in some Abbey Ultra tomorrow and see how many shots I can fire off in one mag. Remember Badabing uses propane in his mags and perhaps he gets a better efficiency using his particular setup. Also remember the nozzles on each manufacturers bottles may be different and this may affect fill issues with the mags. This is not an exact science.

  19. Managed to get a few photos of my platoon leader (feldwebel) kit for 2nd battalion, 7th company 125th regiment panzergrenadier kit 21 panzer division near Ranville on the edge of the Orne river on exercise spring 44. This company would be the one that's pushed away from Pegasus and Horsa bridge by Brit para's on d-day. It's been fun doing lots of research for this kit and with a much higher quality smock I feel a lot happier with my impression now.

Last update of the abomination , wasn’t happy with a ‘naked’ dust cover so sorted that and then decided it needed a tactigay sling , so made one of those as well , also decided to give the PBS a bit of character as well ! Can’t wait for its first kill(the souls that die of those who gaze upon it don’t count !?) ?

.40 S&W was made after a requirement for the FBI was posted due to the Platt and Matix case back in 86. One of the two was shot through the heart in the opening seconds of the gun battle, yet he went on to kill some 5 agents before finally bleeding out. The FBI was adamant it was the small caliber of their 38 Special revolvers that was the issue, not a lack of training. S&W received the contract to create a new bullet and gun that could use it. (This is where my information starts to get a bit hazy - been a few years since I heard the "behind the scenes" story. Ill update this should I find my info is slightly wrong. The premise still stands) This lead to the creation of the .40S&W. The FBI, however, wanted to use a round that was near-identical to the .40 - the 10mm. The 10mm and .40S&W work in the same guns, are the same sized bullet, similar enough casings, etc - similar to how .357 Magnum and 38 Special can be interchanged as long as your gun is rated to the higher pressures of the .357. However, the 10mm was such a "hot" round (industry term - meaning fast, powerful, lots of kick, etc) that many agents couldn't handle it. It also had issues in the upsized S&W 9mm guns S&W made for it. The FBI was unhappy and got into a massive legal battle with S&W over it. Long story short S&W won the case as the guns were built to the FBI's original specifications, and not the specifications of the 10mm. This lead to both calibers being available. In the end a .40S&W has very similar ballistic properties to a 9mm, but it kicks harder and puts far more stress on a gun than a 9mm. A "Race" style pistol like that would have issues with a .40S&W. A 10mm would be even worse. I know all this as my grandfather was actually a key witness for the case. He was with the FBI but left a bit before on an indefinite leave of absence to pursue his holster making business idea (what eventually became Rogers Holster Company, then HolsterOps and then a major part of Safariland). He also had his range and training that was being utilized by the US Gov for military training. As a part of the trial the judge ordered both groups to agree on an independent contractor to test the guns and ammo, and both parties were happy to use Rogers. It was something crazy that he and his team had to do - something like take 200 guns and test 500 rounds through each gun. He said they ended up wearing welding gloves and taping their wrists up with duct tape to get through it all. His findings were in line with S&W's argument, so the FBI actually lost that trial. The interesting thing about it all was - it wasnt the bullet that was the issue. Matix was a dead man regardless - no surgeon in the world could save him. But the shot could have been fired by any handgun up to and including a .44 Magnum or .50 AE, and the result would have been similar. The FBI training at the time was to fire a single shot into the torso within 1.5 seconds. If the officer had put all 5 rounds from his revolver into the chest, or even better tried for a headshot (the two were less than two feet apart. It would not have been a difficult shot...) things might have turned out different. There were a lot of other issues in that case that changed Bereau policies, but Im not going to get into them all here.
