*Tarkov music intensifies* Took my final delivery of ZenitCo bits from Russian this morning, small amount of filing on the mock gas tube and dishes are done. Taken months to get it all together, but I love this angry little bastard. (Tracer installed in PBS-1 for CQB)

(I wanted to try and add my reply to an existing thread, contribute to it rather than starting a new one, as I've just made a small upgrade to my sons G&G Firehawk (standard model)) As I needed to get a new spring for my AEG from ak2m4 I thought I'd get a few parts to tweak my sons stock G&G Firehawk. He loves it as it's his first AEG, but it's noisy (I've already replaced the amplifying flash hider) and after playing with my DE M904E he really wants some more FPS to try and compete a bit better (he's getting very good, on his best day recently he had a 12 kill streak playing CQB). So, I bought for him a ZCI rotary plastic hop up unit (the stock is a geared one), ML Macaron 60 degree, ML Omega nub and a 200m ZCI 6.02 inner barrel (the stock is 120mm and I think 6.05?). My first shock when taking the Firehawk apart was that it has a full cylinder, I wasn't expecting that. All the above parts fitted with no issues at all so on to a chrono, and with no hop at all it was getting 376 FPS on 0.20g It was getting dark in the garden so I applied some hop, maybe a third of a full turn, and I've no idea if the BB's were skying or not, but it brought things down to a better 346 FPS. I'll have to try it again outside at the weekend, somewhere a lot more open to see the path of the BB's, but with the stock spring (relevant to the original post) and cylinder and extra 80mm of inner barrel add a heck of a lot more FPS

As soon as you mentioned old DV I was going to say it's one of the more hilariously dangerous places I've played because of the ability to do things like run straight into an empty swimming pool. Or how you weren't allowed to move the furniture because it had all been strategically placed to cover holes in the floor and other hazards. And then I read the bit where you injured yourself. Figures... I think I may have been at that WASP outing. I definitely recall running around with a comedically large moustache and possibly a beret.

@karlos103 Judging by your posts so far, you seem to have developed a classic case of 'upgrade-itus'. It's a terrible affliction, most contagious within the Airsoft community with a 75% infection rate between players (you need 'X' for that gun, mate!), an 85% rate within Airsoft shops (let me sell you this shiny thing - it'll double your range!), and most horribly, a 99.95% rate within the Tokyo Marui owners community (because TM is perfection out the box! Just needs a few upgrades...!) . Symptoms include wanting to 'upgrading' their gun without shooting it, spending more than the value of the gun in their quest to make it shoot amazeballs, a penchant to tell everyone how their 'upgrades' are the bestest and telling all others should be fitting the same to their guns. Infection long term generally ends with various degrees of disappointment (75% of cases), frustration (90% of cases), a drained bank balance (100% of cases) and questioning whether it was all worth it in the end to shoot tiny plastic balls at each other (80%). A very small number cases (<5%) report that the player reaches a type of 'Airsoft Nirvana', whereby all their guns work beautifully, reliably and the player moves past the need to acquire anything further. No one within the TM-owning community has been identified as reaching this state ...? Jokes aside: Cracking open gearboxes, replacing electronics, new barrels and hop units - upgrading everything without a frame of reference (i.e. playing experience with your gun in 'stock' configuration) could very well lead to disaster. Many upgrades could be described at best as 'side-grades', and there are a number that can be detrimental to performance. You won't know this if you've replaced a sizeable chunk of the stock parts on your gun without using it for a good few playing days first. Go out and play a couple games with what you have already - see how it works, where it falls short compared to other players, and what you want to improve. Upgrade ONE THING at a time, test it thoroughly at your next game day, and see if it actually improves anything. Oh, and circling back to your original question, G&G hop units (both dial and rotary) work just fine. No need to replace until broken. But we all know you'll want to replace it anyway.

Leaf, Guarder Clear or Purple Prommy iirc. Any decent shop would fit if for you for a few quid. They really are ace guns mate, even th eold winger at Negative Airsoft had nowt bad to say about em.

Yeh I feel the GZ works so well because of the contrast between shapes, whereas WW and BL are a bit samey all over.

I have been looking at a few reviews on the KWA Ronin it seems pretty good. One thing that may push me to the TM though is the fire selector on the KWA. In a review by Patrol Base he mentioned that although it’s ambi the right side is slightly shorter than the left to accomodate your trigger finger. Thing is although I can shoulder and shoot both left or right I am left handed and it’s much more comfortable for me left hand on the trigger. I will have to hold one in person to decide that.

My first pew pew! Been playing with it in the garden and consistently doing 335fps on the chrono, hopefully it being an Ares I've got one of the rare ones that work ? You really do fall down a rabbit hole after buying your first gun...... batteries, chargers, sights, mags.... My bank looking at me like.... Good news is that I will get to skirmish it on the 12th Sept.
