Macks airsoft dreamers of the week thread
Druid799 and 2 others reacted to Ebeneezer Goode for a topic
Maybe I'm naive here. But I really don't get the "boneyard" concept in airsoft...why is so much airsoft gear (mainly guns and mags) sold when it could be only described as "fucked"??? I wouldn't even dream of selling (or buying) anything that wasn't in 100% working condition. Imagine going to buy a used car. Theres a three year old Mondeo for sale at full RRP (bizarrely). It only runs on three cylinders, half the front bumper is missing, the aircon is shagged, two of the tyres are bare and the brakes are juddering, but don't worry, the owner reassures you "its a simple fix mate". Nope, neither would I. Whether it was a hoover, a Honda Civic or an airsoft gun, if its pumped, its not fit for retail. Sorry. Fix it, then sell it.3 points -

indeed, i'd not even care because it'd be getting a full re-wire anyway. so the term means different things to different people. ahh yes, the "simple fix", famed for rarely being so simple. that said, plenty of "working" guns can still have serious issues needing correction, hell even (some would even say often) "upgraded" guns can have major issues.2 points -

Thing is boneyard means different things to different people. Someone might sell something as boneyard simply because the fuse is blown or its had a bb jam. But yes some stuff is junk, but again folk might have crazy projects or want obscure spare parts and its easier to get a boneyard gun to pillage. You see the same thing with cars, people do buy scrap cars to take banger racing, or to pillage for parts (aka breakers yards).2 points -

and tbf, the issues discussed aren't the worst. the barrel nut is confusing me, as iirc it's a sliding block but the carry handle isn't too bad and the mag wiring is the kind of thing i'd be re-doing even on a stock gun. it does at least seem to provide realistic expectations.2 points -

I use BLS 0.36 non bio and I never have any issues. I've never heard of Zero Blitzs, so I can't speak to their quality. Maybe try a bag of BLS 0.36 and see how you get on.1 point

To be clear, I think the description is helpful and at least partially honest, but I'd be offering a fraction of that asking price for a junk toy.1 point

The AAP-01 Owners Thread.

With a small amount of hop it chucked .30s down range well. And little bit more and it sent them spinning up to the clouds lol. I'll maybe have to see what I can get hold off so I have something when it eventually breaks then. Cheers1 point -

Rogerborg reacted to Ebeneezer Goode for a topic
Personally, if the piece had blown a fuse or was jamming I'd replace/fix. I totally understand the logic behind what I'd term "breakers" - I.e. shagged beyond mercy and fit for parts only - happens with cars also, however the difference is I see airsoft stuff retailing at not far off full price when it's either a) completely fucked or b) a "simple fix" that the seller clearly can't be arsed implementing. Either way, I just cant see the logic in this market for almost-full-price stock that, quite frankly, is not in sellable condition.1 point -
Yep, at an unrealistic price lol ? seems to be quite a few like that lately, mainly by new members, my jaw dropped when I saw the PDR-C come up at 800 quid?, although I believe he's since dropped the price?1 point
-
I do understand the faults listed aren’t too big a problem but equally the description of its performance are a tad evasive “I think” , “I believe” Etc I’m commenting more on the fact it obviously well used (as in dog ruff) and he’s asking well over the price it was new , simply because it’s ‘rare’ . I know you can ask what ever you want but just seems a bit off too me ?1 point

THE TM MWS thread
Captain Darling reacted to ash12 for a topic
And here is my MWS! Yet to be fielded (this weekend) but I love the look! One quick question - I have the black NPAS ready to install, but I am hitting 1.05-1.13J with a .32. Am I right in saying that the Black NPAS only lowers FPS/J's, and therefore, at this time no need to install? Also, does this J output with .32 seem right (stock but with brass nub and modify tan bucking).1 point -

I'm modding the repro mawl so the laser works. For some reason even though it has a working and wired up Red Laser, no combination of buttons can get it running. What you need to look at are the blue and yellow wires coming from the laser, swap the yellow with the one on the connector and the blue with the grey wire from the IR. You don't need to rewire the rest up just cover it with tape or heatshrink. Obviously doing this will disable the IR laser, but the red laser and torch work fine. There's also no working 2.5mm or 3.5mm connector on the back of the unit, but there is room for one, so I've bought some female 2.5mm jack connectors and i'm going to wire it up so any button plugged into it will toggle the laser on/off. To turn the laser on, you bridge these two connections here. Should be a simple job of drilling a hole for the connector and wiring it to those points. Here's a video of the laser working before screwing it back together: Edit: Ignore the first part of this post, there was no reason to mod the wires I'm a dummy. However I got the switch done:1 point

Ai500 Big Games. Anyone Been to One?
Captain Darling reacted to 00kingi for a topic
Just got back from this event, I'm not sure if any of you went but what a shit show, totally unsafe. No chrono. About 10 toilets to the 450 people About 6 marshals We had fights, fires, the weather to contend with, No propperly trained medical staff. Eye Pro got shot off and broken (reputable brands so probably hot guns). They creamed the money and gave nothing back. It was a disorgansed mess. Way way to many people all building up on the chock points. It was beyond a joke tbh.1 point -
i was also at the AI500 on the Tan team. met a few new people down there and got chatting, before we ended up putting up our camping gear next to one another so we could have a few drinks and some banter on friday night. as @Impulse stated, there were quite a few issues that need sorting out for future events, however he neglected to mention the big red flag.... there was no chronoing of weapons before anyone went out to play, and the marshalls said they would be spot checking in game and banning anyone found running a hot gun.... i didnt see anyone getting spot checked, nor did several other players i spoke with. i had assumed chrono would be done after the game brief as everyone headed to their CP or at the CP, so when they called game on i was pretty shocked, and i had to insist the marshals brought a chrono to the tan team command post to chrono my weapons before i would go off to play, but it still took them 10 or 15 mins to get there. after the marshall arrived a few other tan chronoed their guns too. saturday was going well, until the bad weather rolled in... the gale force winds made it almost impossible to hit anyone outside the buildings, and by the end of the day everyone looked (and felt) like drowned rats. the winds also demolished almost everyones tents on the camp grounds as they were set on high ground. a few people (including myself) had set their tents on a patch off ground between several buildings so we survived the worst of the storm. the organisers got the site owner to open up several buildings beside the campsite so people could move inside, an offer which everyone that stayed accepted so we had some shelter overnight and could get some semi-decent rest. this morning started off well, despite having to use damp gear from the day before, but after an hour or so the sun came out and the weather stayed warm for the rest of the day. Tans made a great push and managed to push greens back almost to their command post. unfortunately tempers began flaring on both sides, so a lunch break was called to allow everyone to cool down a bit before we all went back out, and greens made a slightly better push than the morning and came close to our command post. there was also a big issue caused inside a building known as "vipers nest", a 3 floor cell block. the rules stated that all mesh railings/fences etc on site were to be considered hard cover (no shooting through, no grenades through or over etc), and this included the anti-suicide nets strung across the cell block, onto which several camo sheets were placed. unfortunately one green player tried dropping a grenade through the anti-suicide net and setting one of the camo sheets on fire. after seeing this and calling for a cease fire i tried to summon a marshal, shouting that there was a fire, but it took a couple of minutes for the marshals to react, as there werent any inside the building. after the fire was put out and game resumed, the marshals declared no pyro in the building, but the message wasnt relayed evenly as several players still set off pyro in the building. saturdays game was called off early for safety reasons, but not before one of the tans slipped and injured themselves pretty bad (not sure what the injury was as there were several rumors doing the rounds). today also saw a green player dislocate their shoulder. both serious injuries and i hope they both recover quickly. as for the guns i was running; -my main rifle was my tippmann M4, and was running ok, but its still bedding in the new posiedon barrel an madbull red shark hop rubber, so not performing at its best -my main pistol was my EMG John Wick hi-capa. It was shooting hot on CO2, so i ran it on gas, but found that it didnt want to cycle at all on green gas on saturday or this morning, but worked well on red gas. i swapped back to green one the temperature started to rise, but only used it for a couple of shots in the afternoon - i ran my Northeast Sten MkII this morning, but only had a few mags. while i had ammo it was running well, but the game was too fast paced for me to spend ages at CP reloading mags, so i swapped it out for the AAP-01. the Sten was shooting well and i really wish i could have run it for longer. - i ran my AAP-01 with a drum mag, and just like Impulse, it was outranging most AEGs on site and firing laser straight... at least until i took a shot and the slide/bold jammed solid half open.. about to strip it now, and will post the results in the aap owners thread, but i suspect it has broken its hammer there was a lot of pyro thrown around, but i have to say that both sides were equally as guilty. plus in many instances a grenade was the only way to deal with a dug in enemy player (or several)1 point

This is why I'm probably going to sell my AAP that's still in its pistol form. I've got my AAP SMG that I love (although didn't use at Gaol because MTW is king) but the pistol I very rarely use. It was bought as a sniper "oh shit" gun when I needed a quicker trigger than the MK23 but since the MTW came along it's been surplus to requirements really.1 point

CQB training course
Floperator reacted to ImTriggerHappy for a topic
If you want to do the training because you will enjoy the experience then go ahead but if you expect it to improve your game you will just waste money to be honest. In my experience people who try the real world room clearance stuff are actually at a disadvantage as the steady controlled aspect does not suit airsoft at all. Real world stuff is based on the fact of tension and the fear of death or taking a life so they expect some hesitation. But when facing 16yr olds hopped up on monster it becomes about reactions and you will get rinsed. Airsoft room clearance and cqb is a war of attrition where it is about fast movement and faster reactions. Clearing a room is about going in fast probably dying but hoping to take someone with you and lessening the bodies in the room or even better just chucking grenades in. Without grenades a couple of good players can hold a room against overwhelming numbers for a very lengthy amount of time. I have seen so many players and teams try the whole tactical bit and inevitably they get rinsed and generally get upset and most often are the biggest arses on site.1 point -

Futuristic Concept Airsoft Pistol
SSPKali reacted to PopRocket123 for a topic
I think now matter what we say you should go for it. There aren't enough completely custom guns like this around so don't let strangers on the internet discourage you. Go for it, if it works, great, if it doesn't, learn from it. I want to try doing my own custom pistol like this, just need to find the right internals for it.1 point -
ran the aap01 today at AI500, and it was performing beautifully, easily outranging most of the AEGs onsite.... until it wasnt was popping a few shots (semi-auto only) and the bolt jammed half way back. tried recocking the gun as my first thought was that it had cooled down too much on green gas, but it was jammed solid, so was put back into my box and i grabbed my tippmann to finish the day... just stripped it down and found the hammer has broken, a piece of it lodged under the fire selector switch, and it appears to have gouged the bolt carrier.. no pics at the moment as phone just died on me, but will be updated shortly0 points
