I think it's finished! Top pic was from just before I used it at Halls CQB site. Which is where I played with @Steveocee and the battlecat gang ? (also got my trigger and rear sight from Kyle of Hicapa Hub) Kyle's not long dropped off an Edge Magwell and I didn't hesitate in fitting it! I'm really pleased with how it looks and even more so oh hell well it performs! I'll be leaving my MTW at home for my next game at Leicester Gaol and will use my AAP-SMG and my Hi Capa!3 points

Having used the over the ear Earmors for a while, if they're anything like as good then they'll be fine. You should be able to adjust the volume of the ambient sounds to whatever's comfortable for you. I literally feel your pain as I have tinnitus too!2 points

Well, these have arrived And they are fitted. Just waiting on new batteries to fit (hopefully) in the handguards.2 points -
I've got very mild tinnitus and don't want it getting any worse from pyro, so have been looking at hearing protection, specifically electricool active protection that apparently limits noise without making voices inaudible. The big bulky over-ear tacticool stuff doesn't really seem like my jam, but I've spotted that there are now in-ear versions, specifically the Earmor M20. Decent review here: And £60 isn't outrageous compared to the lifetime consequences of taking a Mk5 near to an unprotected earball. https://www.ballisticdesigns.co.uk/shop/communications/m20-electronic-earplug/ But if they end up cutting out too much low level noise, I'm unlikely to wear them. Any personal experiences with these, or alternatives?1 point

#MeToo, probably a combination of everything that went bang in the military long before anyone considered hearing protection, motorcycles since my teens & years of power tools, especially all the metal cutting? Not sure what pisses me off more though, the fact that it never stops, or when my missus stops me & says "can you hear a funny buzzing/ringing sound", I've given up replying, I just give her the "look" ?1 point

Weathering - Yes or No? and How hard is it?

Easy. Take your gnu, skirm loads and do t treat it lightly... chuck it about, clatter it off stuff, chuck it in the mud... hey presto, one genuinely weathered gnu...1 point -

Forged 6061-T6 upper/lower receiver Viper Tech BCM MCMR GBBR. M-LOK handguards, receiver pins, buffer tubes and buffers, buffer springs, gas blocks, and pistol grips are original parts from Bravo Company and V Seven. I installed Aimpoint AB's T2 Red Dot Sight(with Scalarworks LEAP) and Vortex's Micro 3X Magnifier on the upper receiver rail.1 point -
had it hyperlinked - added another for clarity bit more realistic i guess! hmm now you're talking1 point

If I’m ‘weathering’ a plastic gun I use a flat silver and black paint pen , almost immediately after applying the paint I wipe off with kitchen paper and then take the rest that I want off with very fine grit wet’n’dry and wire wool . I also use this pic if I’m weathering an AK as a resource but it’s useful what ever long arm your aging .?1 point

You can lube the o-ring just by putting some silicone up the nozzle, which you can do when cleaning the barrel - and that's the other thing I'd suggest on any new gun. Split the receiver (should just be one pin at the front), get some silicone (spray or liquid) into the nozzle, then clean the barrel from rear to front with a patch of clean paper towel on the cleaning/unjamming rod that I'd hope that it comes with, so that you're not pushing any shipping oil or gunk into the hop rubber. I use isopropyl alcohol on it, but you don't really need anything, just put the rod through with clean pieces of paper towel, slowly and rotating it, until it stops picking up any more gunk. Then give it an auto burst or two to blow any excess lube out the nozzle before reassembling. After that, what @RostokMcSpoons said, just feed it 0.28g BBs, get your hop dialled in, and enjoy it. Apologies if you already know, but for hop adjustments it can be handy to have a spotter standing off to the side, as they can observe the flight more objectively.1 point -

Rogerborg reacted to RostokMcSpoons for a topic
Yeah, simple upgrade - buy decent 0.28g BBs and play with it a for a couple of games before you do anything else - it's what I'm doing! The temptation to dive in straight off is strong (especially when I said about the spring and lube), but when I look back at my TM AK47S when I first started airsofting, I had a great few games with that before I got the spring upgraded and a tight barrel fitted (and stuck a big heavy battery on it, weighed it down with a top rail and sight). Having said that.. it seems changing the hop rubber and nub is easy, other people here will recommend you some options. Accuracy seems decent out-of-the-box though, and my hop lifts 0.30's already. I'll be interested to see what the improvement will be with those changed out.1 point -
its not hard and theres a great amount you can do. weither you want to use the wire wool on metal or make plastic look like worn metal by dry brushing a little bit of metallic paint on raised edges or go full hog as add rust with iron powders etc (im more post apocalypse airsoft so go more with that for the rare attempt at a game i get) get referance pictures of what your thinking and go from there. theres more than a few great inspirational threads here1 point

for the case of the "standard" 2-tone is it that bad a loss? it is an interesting question, for example the aps uar being not a replica by dint of there being no gun (or gun-shaped prop) that it resembles. wasn't it you that used the "man on the clapham omnibus" example to point out it just needs to be realistic enough to fool joe public? kind of ironic that a cap&ball colt would be just as recognizable to joe public and yet is exempt being pre 1870.1 point -

Rogerborg reacted to RostokMcSpoons for a topic
Hi Jake Short version: You'll love it There's a good forum thread in the Reviews section which has switched into a sort-of owners tricks and tips and pics thread. If you want reassurance you've bought a good gun - that's easy - there doesn't seem to be a bad word said yet. (Well maybe note that the spring tends to lose some of its strength over a short-ish period of time, and piston might need a lubing. But given the quick change spring ability, and access to the piston is relatively simple, don't be scared by those things) All the Double Eagle M90x guns share the same internals. The 904's have polymer receivers, the 906's are metal, the 907's are milled metal, and the 908 has the fancy handguard and the PTS EPS style stock that maybe I should've paid the extra for ? So anything said about any of the guns will most likely apply to yours too There is a decent video review of the 908 on YT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZkN0fqfkvw and a good in-depth of the cheaper / lighter 904 here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xU_vnyRCLj4&ab_channel=Maniek44_Eng And a nice web site review here Double Eagle M904G / WMASG.com - Airsoft binds us!1 point -
Joking aside though, why? Just why Coral? Sure, I bought a two toned plastic CYMA M4 off the buzz from my first day, but it cost £75, it was painted over, and the paint was off before my second day. Even if you just want it as a wall hangar, even if you can't persuade someone to sell you a RIF (more on that in a moment), why wouldn't you factor in getting it repainted. It's not even gangster to do so, because it's not an imitation of an actual make or model of modern firearm (whether existing or discontinued), so there's no VCRA offence committed by either sale or modification. I look at that horror and all I can think is "My God, someone please save it." Wait, was it... was it bought to troll people? Because if so, mission accomplished.1 point

note the lesson kids- us in the airsoft community get that 2-toning is a necessary evil to allow us to keep pewing, so when you turn up nobody is going to judge you if your g&g raider is bright blue, trust us it's not as bad as what some folks voluntarily do to their guns. unless you 2-tone something nice, then we're gonna judge you to be the heretic that you are.1 point -

So it started around 310 when I got it around father's day and dropped to 280 over time. I popped the gearbox out and cycled the piston back to where I could lube the o-ring. (You can use a fingernail or small screwdriver to rotate the o-ring to get the whole thing. Went back up immediately. Also a huge problem with mine was they used too much glue on the red tip and it glued the inner to the outer barrel. The barrel is not supped to be locked in place. Also swap the barrel spring that is around the barrel that contacts the upper. It was odd shaped, almost conical.1 point

I wear almost all my airsoft toys to look used and more authentic (without going too far to hurt resale value too much) Having worked in a film studio props department obviously helped with the practice and guidance but youtube can provide a lot of information now. You just need something to practice on but its hard to really mess things up completely. As @rocketdogbertsaid, look for plenty of reference to know what to aim for. As a starting point, you can use steel wool (the ones from the pound shop for cleaning pots etc) Rub on metal parts to remove paint in areas that would naturally get worn. Start gently doing figure '8' all over and continue until satisfied with the result. (It will take about an hour to do a rifle depending how worn you want it and how much metal there is) Don't use sand-paper as its very difficult to be even. For wood. You can do a quick/easy method that's reversible or go full on to really make it look authentic. The easy one is to spray a THIN coat of matt black all over it and then rub most of it off with the same steel wool as before. Very gently in figure '8's again. (circles are not even) You should probably check youtube for the more involved method which involves staining and giving the wood some bashing as well. This is my CYMA M14 with plastic furniture. Light wear on the metal and the darkening effect on the 'wood'1 point
