Total noob here, but I made sure to talk to my neighbours about my son and I's new hobby. Thankfully one is ex RAF and the others sensible. Sadly and more pathetically my son has a teacher on our estate who grassed him up to the school during lockdown for walking to the local park in a camo onesie and a dirty great orange nerf rifle; so he has some appreciation of the existence of Karen's and curtain twitchers. For the OP, no matter what, these things look real and the general public are morons. The police have to respond to calls, and if a gun is part of the call.... You are sensible enough to understand.

  4. Right as a middle aged person can I just clarify. Some one shouting out take your hit is as bad as no hit takers yes? I would say it's worse as its much more common than non hit taking and can ruin a game atmosphere as the belief that the other team are not taking their hits can spread quickly.

  5. I think I may be able to translate this into English: Creating edited videos with sight target hit markers is as bad as shouting “You’re hit!, you’re hit, I say marshal, that chap over there is hit and is playing on” and also as bad as playing on once you have been hit & eliminated ….. and … discuss ….

  7. always amazes me how good the memories of these youtubers are. they can remember every shot they fired in every game and apply hit markers appropriately, even when you can't tell from the footage whether or not the bb found its mark. meanwhile mans can't remember what, or even if, he ate for breakfast.....

  9. So yesterday was mainly about testing the mp5 high caps I had bought for my King Arms PDW and my general CQB/PDW specific loadout. They feed fine, but they sit a touch too snug into the magwell so I'm gonna slightly sand it wider, maybe a quarter of a millimetre per side, just to ensure they drop nicely as the magazine release is proprietary and looks ultra flimsy and I don't want to force it in any way. Gameplay itself was meh, I wasn't focused at all. But everyone didn't seem too motivated either, so I guess it was just one of those days Also when I came home i took the AK apart for the N'th time to clean the mosfet and give it a general check, ended up reshimming the bevel gear, leaving it a touch looser. Hopefully it'll run fine next Sunday.

  10. A mostly good day at Special Ops yesterday... took my F2000, M906 and AK47S (which only shoots reliably on semi so was my backup-backup). F2000 decided that it would hop my 0.28's thanks to the new hop unit and bucking. Which was nice. Not so good was I think I put too much hop on, jammed the barrel and the gearbox. So back to the trusty DE M906. A decent enough morning's play, with my gun running like a champ The rain came in harder at lunchtime, feeling a bit damp and cold. I was wearing my newly acquired MTP windproof smock, and was at this point wishing I'd bought the waterproof one. A change of undershirt made life much nicer. Double helping of tasty meatballs for lunch, and luckily the rain mostly went away before we restarted. The afternoon involved an interesting game of Jailbreak where 6 of us armed only with pistols were prisoners in the enemy camp. Our team attacked to break us out of the 'kill house' area we were in, but the marshals also had the ability to call 'jailbreak' at which point we could open fire and make a run for it. So they did, and chaos ensued Unfortunately I got annoyed at this point. Having been waiting 20 minutes for the big chance, I shot a guy twice in the back and expected to select my next target. But instead he turned around and started shooting at me, so I lost my chance. We all got zapped so and 15 minutes of choosing our moments when we'd make another rush, which usually involved getting a couple of very close range pistol kills and then getting lit up by everyone around! One of us did actually manage to escape. It was good to give my new Hi Capa a decent try out, it performed perfectly in the cold. At this point my battery died, and my game time came to a premature end. I had to run (well jog/walk) back to the safe zone to grab the other 11.1v battery out of the F2K, which was about 1.5km round trip. And then I couldn't get the damn thing connected... the PTS EPS stock and the short connector lead on the DE just turned out to be impossible to deal with in the cold / wet. I've got an extension lead in the AR15 which I've now transplanted across. A few more indestructible players around than usual, there were a few teenage hoody / puffa jacketed kids deciding to ignore anything short of painful headshots... for which I was happy to oblige. But still, I got through a wet-ish day without feeling miserable.

  12. Had a great day yesterday trying out Ambush Airsoft in Cobham for the first time. Had seen a few old reviews that had me in two minds but seems the new management have found their feet. Arrival and check in were quick and chrono checks carried out for all. Despite the heavy rain from around lunchtime there were plenty of games played with scenarios varying from attack/defend, domination, capture the flags and a very enjoyable entrenched snipers vs everybody else that rolled through multiple play areas. Good mix of woodland setting with various well built structures and hard cover (some with multiple levels) dotted around giving plenty of options. Respawns we’re within easy reach and reload visits to the safe zone were frequent but short (enough time to refill mags and have a quick smoke/coffee) keeping play time to a maximum. Marshals we’re on point and kept everything flowing and there was a good mix of regulars, rentals and randoms like me - it was nice to see the regulars helping out and encouraging the rentals to push and get stuck in. Decent shop selection and lunch provided was hot and filling. All in all had a great day and will definitely be going back again. I did get clocked with a burst to the thumb that is definitely going to leave a mark! ?

People still getting in trouble after it's known to be a rif involved, rather than a real firearm, is usually because they've done something stupid (eg wave it around in public), failed the attitude test or both Did anything happen because quite frankly that's got fuck all to do with the school?

  15. Given the pay and conditions, and that the "Armed Forces Covenant" is three empty words that mean absolutely nothing to anybody with an ounce of power of influence, I can't say that I blame them. It's the taxpayer picking up the tab, but in the context of MOD typists getting gibsed £60K for claiming carpal tunnel hurties while squaddies get a couple of grand for having a hand blown off (and only if they can prove it was their wanking hand), I can't say that I begrudge it that much.

  16. Dude - the Profiler shits all over Grills. I've owned several sets of both 'back in the day'. If they ever do a 'v2' Profiler (with soft ears) I would buy a set in a heartbeat. And everyone knows, that without a shadow of doubt, the best goggles (ever) are 1st Gen JT Flex 7/Proflexs with the super soft rubber lower (newer ones - post 2002ish changed the rubber and are not as good). Had so many bounces off that thing - saved me a couple of times in tournaments. I digress... @C-Diddy Whilst I5s have become 'de rigueur' with the Speedsoft kids, they are eye-wateringly expensive for a 12 year old that's never played. This is me, with my two boys last year - I'm wearing E-Flexes along with the younger son (he nicked my spare - he has a set of green Helixs normally), my older son has the black Helix. All use the same lenses, just the frames that vary. The Helix foam around the frame is not as 'plush' as the higher end goggles though. If I was buying again - I would lean slightly towards the HK Army HSTL because it has an 'over the head' strap that will reduce the chance of it slipping down on a smaller head (i.e. kids). The foam looks better than the Helixs too, which definitely helps with comfort over a full day of play.

  17. Cracking suggestions there @Speedbird_666, thank you. I get the whole Dye I4/5 thing, but it's excessive for his needs. Both of these look to be great options. He'll of course want me to stencil a skull on there! Bit pricey for now but good suggestions. If he likes it I may up the budget, but for now the MI7 variant will be fine I think.

  18. The MI7 is OK, but they are just basic rental level goggles. Hard plastic frame. They are marketed under both Valken, Annexe & Sly brands The Dye I4s have been a favourite in airsoft, and the I5 is the latest iteration These are a premium goggle with a soft rubber frame, and the Dye family tends to have a smaller footprint which can be good for kids, but bad for those with big heads or chins The best thing to do is to try some goggles on I have a pair of the MI7s - which are cheap & cheerful, but they comfortably fit me I used the Dye I3 pros which worked for me, but exposed my forehead, chin and also my mouth when talking/shouting. I’ve been shot in the forehead and mouth quite a few times The I4s are smaller than I3s. My preferred goggle on the market is the GI/VForce Grills. There is finally a new Grills v2 out, I’m not convinced by the ‘new features’ to consider the v2 a better option, as opposed to just a new version. The grills design has been around for many years and has stood the test of time well, they usually have a whole range of colour combinations which often meant good discounts as new season releases were announced. The v2 could mean a price drop on some v1 stocks The best answer is for him to try some goggles on and see what feels good to him

  19. Don't need the Dye I4/5's for a 12 year old. All paintball goggles from a major manufacturer have the same safety ratings. My 13 year-old uses these (I actually have a few sets for both my sons/loaners): https://www.justpaintball.co.uk/products/empire-helix-thermal Or for a few more quid, I hear these are pretty good value for money: https://www.bzpaintball.co.uk/hk-army-hstl-goggle-thermal I personally use E-flexs - I've been using Empire goggles since waaay back in my Paintball-playing days.

  25. Yeah, there's like a 95% chance that you get ripped off. Either you're mug enough to want to pay £40 for a battered mag or you're expecting the seller to include the RIF and they don't.

  27. That was with gloves on!!! To be fair they’re not armoured but I don’t think that would have helped given where o got hit. In fairness to the guy it was a good shot and he sprayed me through a window that I “assumed” my team were covering! ?

  28. Seems a bit subtle, if so. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284650286872 I've seen eBay adverts trying that wheeze, but they usually say "comes with everything shown" or similar wink-wink, nudge-nudge. Given that you'd have zero comeback from eBay, it's a peculiar way of selling or buying.

  29. YT will provide you with a "next best" result if it can't find exactly what you're after. That's usually considered 'helpful' rather than anything else! As a video of a disassembly of a very specific airsoft gun is rather 'niche', it's not exactly surprising you're not getting (m)any hits. Wildhog and warthog seem to be the same guns but one with a flash hider and other with a suppressor. So all the interesting bits are the same. I'd suggest you're getting your knickers in a twist for nothing

    Price gouging ?

It’s a different business but hopefully will give some insight from a retailers perspective. I had someone posted that we had price-gouged him on a pair of tyres. Our sale price was the manufacturers recommended retail price, at which we made 25% profit margin. He purchased his tires as a walk-in customer at 7.30pm - we used to stay open until 9pm to accommodate bike riders working all day. In addition we fitted the tyres for him. Most shops close at 6pm. For us to stay open cost us £80 per hour. So staying open that night cost us £240. I checked the toll records and that night we made 2 sales - the tyres and one cup of coffee. Total sales of £82.50 from which we made a gross profit of £21.50. As a result we lost £218.50. In his negative Google review he suggested that we should have price matched an online discounter. Had we matched their price we would have made 50p from the tyres! And the online guys don’t offer to fit them for free, or give him the convenience of picking him up his tyres in time for him to ride to work the following morning. As you can imagine the words ‘price gouging’ is a very emotive one for me. So all I would say is don’t always jump to the conclusion that the retailer is always out to gouge you. There’s always the option of not buying from anyone you think is gouging. But sometimes perhaps they’re just trying to make enough to pay their bills and feed their kids.

  34. Which means absolutely nothing in airsoft. My backup-backup gun is a CYMA CM.516, the really cheap, nasty plastic one, which I've been fiddling with on and off from the moment that I bought a second RIF. I rarely have cause to revert to it, but when I do, wow, it outshoots anything else that I've got. ZCI hop and barrel, Big Dragon M140, bang on 1.13J with an M90 spring, feeds from any mag, and so much brrrrrrt. BBs really, truly, don't care about what's wrapped around the gearbox, hop unit and barrel.

Gear still in the packaging , put a nice bundle together must have been clocking 300?’s worth retail , asked how much he said 200 so I came back with “200 ? that’s a bit steep does Lizzie know you’ve been raiding her store cupboard ?” . “Tell ya what call it a ton and I won’t have a clue where or when I bought it all , work for you ?” AND he just grinned and said “sounds like a deal to me !”? like I said 90% of squaddies will have the fillings out of your teeth if they think they could flog em ! ???
