  1. In addition to the other replies, I'll say this; (this applies to casualsoft skirmishes) everyone pays the same money to play, and everyone plays in a way that they most enjoy. Youll always get your group of plonkers hanging back and chatting, your narcissistic user l33t YouTubers with gopros hanging out of their arses, your regulars who know every advantageous angle to shoot you, your hpa/speedsofters tearing around like mad that's... and everyone in between. So given that everyone is doing their own thing, how much you enjoy a day is wildly dependent on the ratios of player types attending. Perhaps if there were more players who were keen on objectives in your team, you'd have enjoyed it a lot more. And as mentioned, the subjective quality of sites can vary wildly too. I've been playing 13 years, and I'll still have bad days for whatever reason. But on the flipside, I'll also have absolutely outstanding days that me and my buddies will be chatting about for weeks. I seem to have rambled a bit, not even going to proof read. Hope this helps.

  2. I was dubious when I saw the thread title. Your write-up is fair though. So, welcome n' all that. You picked up on something which I have found to be generally true across several sites and years of playing. It can be a little bit like golf. People turning up mostly to try and/or show off their latest equipment, combined with milling around talking with their mates. Not everyone is super enthusiastic (of course the current weather doesn't help) about the actual objectives and often people who celebrate victories are seen as knobs. Maybe because of this, I rarely hear marshals even mention who "won" either. Possibly that's my overall point, maybe it's not for you or maybe you'll learn to take it less seriously. Think of it as a good reason to get out of the house early on a weekend, meet some mates, get the adrenaline flowing and even a little excercise too. Edit; I will also add that collecting the equipment (often the guns), can be at least 50% of the reason people are in to this hobby.

  3. Sadly, you've listed some of my pet peeves, which seem to be common at most sites. You only missed marshals hanging out in groups and InstaFacing on their phones. YouTubers and airsoft "celebrities" produce heavily edited videos showing a rather selective view of airsoft, sometimes bordering on staged or fictional. And, yes, there are generally a bunch of people who aren't massively engaged in the objectives (if they even listened to the brief), or sometimes even with playing airsoft at all. But you'll have good days and bad days. For example, the timekeeping at Biohazard today was actually pretty decent, and we did get told who'd won each game, which was nice. It really comes down to the players and marshals who show up on the day, and whether the numbers suit the site. The good days are great. It's a pity you didn't enjoy Bunker 31 as looks like an interesting site, sort of outdoor-CQB. I don't think you've got a lot of other options up there - it's quite a trip to Tazball, Viper Strike or Evolution, and I haven't played at any of them, so have no particular recommendations to give.

  7. Well. First new kit brought in well over 7/8 years. Set myself up with what I’m going to try to narrow down to be a mid war marine impression. Long way removed from my usual Russian kits but fancied a change and something I’d not done before. Everything is repro for the time being and chances are I’ll just swap a pouch a month or there abouts until at least the webbing is original. Just need to get it dirty & add my own flair to it now

  8. I think persistence will prevail. I’ll certainly be giving other sites ago before writing off the sport as a long term hobby. I’ll defo be doing both these things. There’s a group of four of us who are all starting out and have similar ideas on what we want out of it (teamwork, comms, objective focussed, not so fussed about looking flash in expensive kit…although that does sound fun). I’ll also be contacting the site, in a friendly manner of course. Who knows, maybe it was just a day where a few of the marshals were feeling rough after a late one on Saturday ?‍♂️

  9. it can be as simple as it was just an off day, although the better the site the better the "average" level and the less frequent/bad the off days will be. although there remains the ever present issue of it being spoiled one way or another. the winning and losing thing, well folk take different viewpoints. personally for me on regular skirmishes i don't really care if our team won or lost, indeed a well-fought loss is imo more fun than an easy victory. however if it's a running theme for the whole day then there's the ever present question of team/game balance, which is something a good site should be paying attention to and adjusting teams/game rules to compensate. i would certainly say it'd be worth it for you to try a few more games, and some different sites. if you're still getting the same feeling out of the ones available to you (ie reasonable driving distance etc etc) then at least you know gave it a proper go.

  10. I've got two we m9's. Semi and full auto and I love em. Build quality and feel are both present. They are great guns. I also have couple of tm pistols p226 and mk23. They are great pistols as well. On game days I invariably end up with one of the m9's on my belt though.

  11. I love my WE berets m9s. Mind the Barry Bolton V2 to be the best because it's more robust. less likely to blow of the back end when in full auto. if you worried about the emblem on grip just touch it up with art fixative spray. That will retain emblem for much longer.

  13. I've had better days of CQB. Taped versus no-tape teams, and I was on the taped one. Try spotting the absence of something in the dark in the 2 milliseconds it takes for them to spot your red-and-white hazard tape. Barely audible muffled, muddled briefings. 2 out of 3 tracers crapped out. Pistol mags were giving up or gassing out all day. And to end it all, a cracked nail and bruised finger through a padded glove from a speedyboi who must have teleported to get to where he was lying in wait. Maybe the eddies in the space-time continuum effected his regulator, because as we all know, HPA players never, ever nudge them up during the day even when the site is lax and laissez-faire and would never, ever catch them. [More generic grumbling and muttering] To be fair, the actual play was OK, the games all worked well enough (once people figured out what had been briefed), and it was nice to catch up with @Musica. Maybe I'm just getting too old experienced for CQB.

  16. So messaged Feyachi on Instagram and got a speedy reply, they asked for my Amazon order number and instantly said they will send a replacement at no charge. On it's way to me now. Couldn't be bloody happier with their customer service. 5* would highly recommend them. Wasn't expecting much of a response TBH. But they have delivered better service than many large companies.

  17. Welcome to the sport! I'm personally delighted that after that sort of day you've logged on and bothered to create this thread and discuss it. As others have mentioned every site varies. 6 games (depending on length) is about average for a skirmish day, I prefer faster turn around times and shorter lunch breaks. But I tend to find all skirmish sites slack and slow for this, a skirmish caters for all players including players with really different motivation and organisational levels. Losing momentum can be a difficult one to recover and especially if the weather is bad it can be hard to be motivated again to get it going after lunch. Most skirmish players are interested in their game, not whether the objectives been achieved, other people flanked etc and most are there to get kills and they play in an according fashion......sounds like a more structured event would be up your street. Regarding the objectives, at a skirmish they rarely mean anything, they are just a plot for that game, the score for football at the end is important, having a good game less so. Having a good game/experience is the point of Airsoft (or generally that's the accepted view) so which team won rarely matters. I find it useful so that Marshall's can re balance the teams if one side is losing lots. It is nice to know when one side "wins" but I'm sure if you persist you'll have great games you lose and terrible ones you win. My honest opinion is that you experienced a pretty meh day of Airsoft, whether that's because of the site, them having an off day, I've had meh days at what I thought were great sites, great days at sites I had previously thought of a not great. At skirmish days I tend to find all of the issues you've raised exist, some times it's real bad, some times a minor annoyance. I rarely found them at more organised events (such as battlesims)or milsims. Stirling run lots of events at catterick, it's worth the 8 hour return trip for me. You can play bad guys without all the Gucci kit and their themed games there arent non stop. I wouldn't normally advise them for a new player, but I'd rather that than you lose the love for the sport altogether.

  18. Welcome Baptimus_Prime Echoing what's already been said really. Sounds like that site isn't the best run or they had an 'off' day. Even with well run sites it is common to have differing experiences on various days usually dependant on the players. Have a look here and see if there's another site near you: PlayAirsoft — UK Airsoft Sites: Skirmish, Mil-sim, CQB and more Give it a few more tries at least to get your UKARA membership registered.

  27. I think, given what you've said about your location, your best bet is to keep trying (and if possible go to a different sit, obviously). If you're playing with friends then you guys be the ones that work as a team, you cap the objectives, you watch where all the headless chickens are gathering and use them as a distraction while you flank. And maybe send an email to the site pointing out what you found disappointing, but send it as constructive criticism, they may improve their running.

  28. It can vary at sites depending on quiet who shows up. A few of the regulars where I was said what an unusual day it was. Much reduced attendance, presumably because of the weather. I had a few issues so didn’t get “stuck in” my initial games. Not being able to see kind of slows you down! General skirmish days a lot of players, rental or otherwise, just want to shoot people/their mates and tend not to be very objective focused.

  29. Slow start to the day for me. Site was less than half the players of my previous visit, which is both good and bad. But plenty of space for my deck chair. First couple of games persistent gun misdeeds, when it worked eyepro was fogging badly so I mostly acted to draw fire. Binned AEG and things were moving more to CQB. Got sneaky and ambushed with pistol. Had a nice group of five regulars mosey up to me, dropping a frag would have been too much movement so just started up with the Glock. Several of them turned and riddled me pretty close on auto, as well as hitting each other despite, having been hit. I just thought I’d was funny because I genuinely scared them. Sitting very still in camo even without a ghillie is effective and I’d let them move around me while say to each other “I’ve cleared that”. I beg to differ ?. Fell-back into the village for next life and had masses of fun tapping very deliberate shots. Quietly rolling a grenade out and hearing “fuck it” just as the bang goes off. Simply ran out of gas and bangs in the end. Pretty good play. One chap on my team was moaning about a non hit taker, so I reminded him he was shooting in to the wind….. ? It’s quiet satisfying to empty 6 pistol mags in a game pretty much getting a hit every few shots. Happy days.

  30. It was better than the last time I was at that site but as the day goes on it can start to wear on you just clashing in the middle but I do like how they split the site up for certain game modes. The fall back games work very well on that site and the attack/defend the train was fun too. It's still a small site and while upstairs has expanded it a fair bit I think we only got up there twice in the day. I feel the middle section downstairs in the darkness is just too strong to which ever team holds it. Add some lights in there IMO as it's corner camping hell with lots of nooks to go in. I took a speedy boy to the head after you had called it a day and went off to speak to the head marshall and he said that he had the same thing said 2 weeks back and when they checked them they found them to be UNDER what most peoples guns are shooting on site. Sounds susipicous to me as if you had that fine of adjustment you'd be above 330fps surely. Obivously if they see a guy with a chrono in their hands then they might just crank the other way hence being "low". I made it in to the Police Station btw guns blazing but they were barely taking trades so never made it in to their half of it. I think they need 4-5 marshals around that to keep people honest. The marshals are much better than my last time there too a lot more engaged in the game instead of on their phones at the side while bb's are being flung. I do think the briefing confusion causes people to accidently respawn in the wrong area or when they should not which "accidently" gave them an advantage. Get yourself down to the new Depot site it's already bigger than Bio with maybe only 1/3 of the site open for play. ] The real bright side is we made it through a whole day without me shooting you once.

  31. It really does depend on where you play; sites all have their own characters and styles. You need to try a few out to find the ones that work for you. Don't give up after your first try. If you let us know where you are based, I am sure that members who know the sites in your area can advise you.
    1 point
  32. Um, where did you play? ? Airsoft is greatly dependent on the quality of the site, the site's marshals, and the quality of the players. Sounds to me like you played at a really bad site, with not very good players.

  33. You said yourself you have never owned the WE M9. Which WE pistols have you owned? The WE Beretta is not the worst ever. Those who collect M9s will probably tell you the Gen 2 WE version is more reliable than the KJW, KWA, ICS or G&G. The WE Glocks and Sig P226/ P229, are also better than the KJW. Granted many of their pistols are crap. But not all. TM certainly makes the best gas pistols, but the WE Berettas, Glocks and Sigs are pretty much TM clones. And they are very affordable and have decent magazines that are also cheap to buy. KWA and VFC pistols generally cost more and look a bit nicer, but they get slagged off just as much on a regular basis for breaking or just being unreliable. Maybe that is because they don't copy Marui designs and their own designs have flaws. And if they do break, good luck getting replacement parts.

  34. Short version: ordered a pistol and holster, they've gone walkies thanks to DpD driver error. Rang patrol base, they're sending replacements which will be with me tomorrow and have refunded the postage. DPD were not helpful in the slightest, claiming they'd never seen the package, despite sending me notifications it had been delivered ? But Patrol Base have been fantastic.

I agree to some extent, but depends on site and cover, and who you are against. I often see rentals struggling with crappy rentals in woodland as they can't get close enough to the enemy before the players with more range take them out. Again you could argue they aren't using cover effectively, but it's the moving between cover that causes the issues as they cant put down effective suppressing fire. CQB is of course a different kettle of fish.

Would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a well made budget sight with great customer service to back it up. Also looks like an updated model. New box, better instructions, minor improvements to the sight and a clearer reticle. https://instagram.com/feyachi_outdoors?utm_medium=copy_link

  43. that's true. on the one hand, they are just responding to the audience, sadly "airsoft fights and flipouts compilation #420; cheetar shot in the ballz with crazy 500fps sniper (instant karma) (super painful) (he regretted it)" is gonna get you more views than "yeah went and played airsoft, it was fun playing but the footage doesn't really show it that well". it's drama dressed up as actual gameplay. seems to be a human thing, i mean if you look at regular television we could put anything on there and yet we so often choose to have violence and murder.

  44. Yeah for sure and as a bonus, i just went ahead and glued it. The reticle was a tad bit wonky. So stuck a couple of little squares of card under one side of the angled mount when I screwed it down and that sorted it. Put a shit load of super glue around the mirror so shouldn't budge now. So will have a brand new back up in a few days when it arrives. Happy days!

And there's no need to laugh at your own kit... these sights are excellent value for money. If you can't fix yours I spotted one on ebay for only £15 a couple of weeks ago.
