LOL, I meant the retailers mum. To be honest it sounds like your friend may have mislead you with his use (& misuse) of the gun in question, & he most definitely abused the shops already easy-going nature, including its very flexible terms it offers. Thanks to him im sure the shop will now be forced to reevaluate its terms to ensure this situation doesn't arise again, which will be a shame for the genuine punters. My one question for you @Vetis why did you end up signing up to badmouth the shop ?, as the full story has unfolded it's you that gets the flak, or at the very least, looked upon unfavourably, when in fact your mate deserves to have the piss ripped out of him ?2 points

Absolutely. Equally, if we're talking about a full auto RIF (for the sake of example) then 0.4s is getting a bit overkill for my tastes (regardless of the cost). If it's for a DMR then 100% go for it, it makes sense to make the most of the few(er) shots you have. Kind of reminds me of the "I don't want to build a wanker gun, but I want a massive ROF to be a pain hose when people don't take their hits" argument.2 points

Great advice above, nothing much to add to it except some other bits of kit you might not have considered: Kneepads, or trousers with built-in kneepads Something to hang all your kit off, whether that be a belt/battle belt, assault vest or plate carrier ( this item is the perfect happy medium for me) Weapon sling, I like the bungee ones Wet weather gear, even if it's just a surplus DPM goretex jacket you can throw on over the top of everything. There really is no limit to the amount of needless accessories you can buy in this hobby but I'd consider the above to be pretty essential.2 points -

because it turns airsoft into a point and click adventure tbh, the heavies in a standard assault role isn't the norm mostly for cost rather than performance reasons, they work just fine but firing loads of them gets expensive fast....2 points -
Yes you’re right. I tested with a mag that allows this gun to dry fire. Maybe the bolt stop feature is something to look at ? Yes, motor was connected up with both wires. This gun has a Lipo mod and can run two batteries. I’m going to try and connect the motor to another battery out of the gun to make sure. Unfortunately I don’t have another motor to test.2 points

afaik the crazy jets have a hybrid cut so it can run in an aeg hop unit using one of the hot shot buckings. that's one way of doing things, but tbh i'd just go with the good ol' macaron with a zci (pdi 6.01 if you're feeling flush and really have the rest of the build dialled in). the r-block the maxx has works just fine with the macaron, so don't need the omega nub with that combo.2 points -
I'll add my two pence, I have a G&G l85 Afv, I've managed to get it to play nice with a Maxx hop with internal tracer and a nanohard (warfet is better but I'm cheap) mosfet useing an 11.1v (do not use without a mosfet) I forget the capacity but it's large. This has required rewiring her myself. Its very common to disable the blowback as its underwhelming and will just fail anyways. Some l85s can be quite picky when it come to mags, I recommend NUPROL STANAG 30/140rnd Adjustable Mid-Caps. 20200830_140557_1.mp42 points

I use Warfets or Pico's on mine, fit outside the gearbox. The ICS gearbox wont take an internal mosfet. Not sure on the G&G but I doubt it will either, Gearboxes on SA80 family are a completely different shape and setup than V2/V3 boxes (although the bits inside are v2) ICS L85 takes 510mm barrel ICS L86 takes 610mm barrel ICS will take 11v out of the box (but no reason to) and a huge 7000mah Titan in the handgrip fro all day long play All of the L85s have quirks, But they are known and can be rectified. Personally I'd go ICS, and have more than enough change for a tighter barrel, good hop rubber, Mosfet and a Titan for around the same money as a G&G, plus the ICS is far easier to open up and service. Thank you Rogerborg for bring this to our attention. we have been in business for over 10 years and have 1000's of very happy customers as our reviews show. however we can't please everyone. So let me give you a bit of background on this situation the customer has been shopping with us for a number of years and would receive discounts and lay away schemes in our store. Sometimes taking months to pay, which is no trouble, however when he did have a item laid away he would come in ever week and use our range, gas, and ammo all free of charge. the item he purchased was a Gas blow back weapon and he would ofter use black gas in it to get a better kick. as a result of course the item broke( you would not put avaition fuel in a car and expect problems not to happen) However as he was a good customer we repaired in free of charge apart from a small part that makes the gun lock back when mag empty. he was also given £100 cash back as we liked him and wanted him to be happy. we advised that if the part can be sourced again we would fit free of charge, however he had invalidated his warranty for 2 reason. 1 being the how long he had been using it in store and then furthermore after he had finished paying for it and 2 as he had used the non recommended gas in it to get more power. However, he came in demanding a refund and was told several times that as the issue was due to missuse this is not a warranty repair. We even sent it back to the supplier who also refused warranty due to user error, i should also add that he had taken it apart himself. the day in question (yesterday) he again came in the store causing a very uncomfortable environment for other customers and staff that have had to deal with his constant abuse. In 10 years we have NEVER had to ban a customer, but yesterday enough is enough and after being advised several times of his position was asked to leave when he refused he was advised that unless he did the police will be called. No this is all a very unfortunate situation and I'm sure he will very happily embellish on the truth to make him seem like the victim. which is not the case. I have CCTV of the gas he has used, the dry firing and the abuse instore to staff and will happly post it if required to protect our reputaion. I have not mentioned his name as I don't want him to get further backlash when the truth comes out. But I hope people will realise there is always two sides to a story.2 points -
Worst injury from airsoft
GothicGhost reacted to sonofsammo for a topic
Well, I've just had mine! I was playing at YTA Borderlands, near Huddersfield,. It's a really nice site (from what I got to play) and the marshals are excellent (very professional, thank God!). It's a sniper's paradise, but not at the expense of everyone else. I was working with two other snipers as part of a pincer movement on an objective, but I got slotted by a counter sniper. All good, I went to a respawn point - but the respawn point was very close to an enemy held objective. I had seen two leave and rather than retreat to a safe distance, I took a shot. To be met by a barage of return automatic fire. They couldn't range me, so I spun on my heels and ran, just as their team members were piling out of the objective to join in. There's me and running and never the twain should meet. The safety brief told us to watch out for the rocky terrain and that things were unstable underfoot. I'd even listened to the safety briefing, as I'd never been there before. However, this information eluded me whilst "running for my life". I was at full tilt, tripped on a rock and went flying. As I was flying through the air I had one thought "Must. Protect. Rifle." And so I twisted to angle the rifle away from the ground. Stupidest fucking thing I've ever done. Instead of twisting it away from me, I ended up landing on it and as my head went down it cracked a rock. I lay there, unmoving, staring at the tree canopy and blue sky beyond and watched as it swirled. I was still being shot. Which was nice. But didn't have the air in my lungs to shout anything. And I couldn't raise my arm. It felt like they were adding insult to injury, so I managed to stick one middle finger up. Unfortunately, rather than thinking something was wrong, or accepting my arm was in the air, they took it as a taunt and continued to fire ? Eventually, I think I heard someone say "is he actually alright?" and they came over to check on me. The first person to arrive was a cracking player called Alan, who just happened to be a first aider. He checked me over and between them they got me sat up. Alan removed my cap, as I'd said I'd hit my head, so that he could just check if everything was ok. His reaction was dramatic and something along the lines of "OH MY GOD, someone get a med kit!". To be honest, I thought he was just taking the piss to make me feel better and was expecting the next line "only joking". But it never came. I had a hole in my head and it was leaking lots of blood and scalp tissue. The marshals had already called ceasefire, and the players all responded immediately - I felt terrible I'd ruined the game and lost them playing time. I was carted off the field and I have to say, the YTA team (and Alan and Andy, two very kind players) did a cracking job looking after me. After waiting 3 hours for an ambulance that never came, the manager of YTA, Paul arrived and decided it would be quicker to just drive me to A&E. So my heartfelt thanks to him for that, otherwise I might still be waiting! Sum total of damage - hole in head, sewn up with four stitches, two broken ribs and severe bruising. Damage to my SRS and MK23 is currently unknown as I haven't dared look. The irony of doing that much damage to myself in an effort to not get shot a lot and then getting shot a lot as well is not lost on me. They're certainly my worst injuries from airsoft, how about you guys and gals?1 point -

Draper stuff can be hit and miss at times, I've got a love affair with Clarke pro (machine mart), It has to be the pro version tho as it comes with a lifetime guarantee, Identical to the halfords pro of a few years ago in most cases. If you have a local MM then you can just walk in and exchange any broken clarke pro stuff. I think the only thing they don't cover is ratchets, but all the sockets ect are covered. Bahco are also very decent, but the prices can vary massively. They do a little 1/4" ratchet set called the SL25 that is superb. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bahco-SL25-Socket-Piece-Drive/dp/B000Y8XCA81 point -

The best Crimpers I've used are the Knipex ones. It really depends on the Style of crimp you want to use tho. If it's for ferules then the Self Adjusting ferule crimp is a fantastic tool. It's not cheap, but we use them at work for rebuilding machine cabinets. There are cheaper variants of this on the market, but you want something that crimps from all angles for ferules. Amazon should have a selection of off brands with ferules for under £30, but I can't guarantee the quality. https://ffx.co.uk/product/Get/Knipex-97-53-04Sbe-4003773030270-Self-Adjusting-Ferrule-Crimping-Pliers https://www.amazon.co.uk/0-25-10mm²-AWG23-10-Self-Adjustable-Connectors-terminals/dp/B08ZDN5WNQ/ref=sr_1_12?crid=1IIW3KETH2JLC&keywords=Self+Adjusting+Ferrule+Crimping+Pliers&qid=1655161907&s=diy&sprefix=self+adjusting+ferrule+crimping+pliers%2Cdiy%2C116&sr=1-12 If all you are thinking is bullet and spade connectors then the standard Knipex crimping pliers are a tad cheaper. Again there are cheaper versions on the market, but we tend to see a lot of Knipex pliers in industry because there generally about the best you can get easily. £20-25 is about average across the decent brands, Cheaper might be better for you if it's only for a couple of connectors a year. So check screwfix and amazon. https://ffx.co.uk/product/Get/Knipex-Kpx9721215-4003773034131-Crimping-Pliers1 point -

Although this post is mainly focused on my experience at the shop on Saturday and I would’ve preferred it to remain so, given that most people have taken an interest in the broader story, regarding my friends experience at the shop (including the retailer themselves). I thought it would be fair and reasonable to give you his side of the story. “I initially saw and tried the gun in store and agreed with the shop to pay in a few instalment before I picked it up over a few weeks. During that time, I did go in and showed a family member the pew and tried it again on their range with 1 mag and their supplied green gas, which is the only gas they allow. It was then set aside until i could collect. I wasn’t looking for faults at that point and I trusted the shop that their wouldn’t be any. I then collected the gun, but was unable to use it due to the some medical reasons. Once I was, I noticed some faults and I returned it to the shop in 19 days. I was sent a video showing that some of faults had been fixed but the bolt catch was still not locking back (which was the main issue). They then agreed to repair and order the required part (surely this is an admission that the gun was faulty). I was initially told that a new part had been ordered and would arrive in a week. This was in October ‘21. I gave them until November and was told they were still waiting. This cycle continued until now (so around 9 months) and was given a range of excuses, including: Brexit (the part was coming from Hong Kong), the warehouse caught fire and then flooded, it was sent to the wrong place, was included in the wrong order, had not been packaged correctly and that the only way it was possible to get the part was if the manufacturer made the gun in full and took the part off it. I was finally told in May, by their tech, that they actually could not get the part and had exhausted all avenues. It was at that point I decided it would be best for me to ask for a refund, as a repair was not possible. I went to shop a few times after that to resolve this, but as the manger was not there I agreed to go back another time. This led to what happened on Saturday. On Saturday, I went to the shop with Vet and asked the manager to confirm they could not repair, which he did, and I then asked for the refund. At this point I was told they would not refund, would not exchange and could not repair. We were asked to either drop the matter or leave, otherwise they would call the police (bear in mind they still have my pew and my money.) I have been told by Trading Standards that this is not acceptable.” I have only ever seen him being polite and civil (if occasionally frustrated) in his exchanges with the management and never with the staff, who did nothing but try to help. I will allow others to form their opinions and hopefully this gives a more full account of what’s happened.1 point

To be fair, circumstances leading up to the "showdown" sound like 6 of one & half a dozen of the other, Airsoft gats, even the top brands are notoriously fragile, I've had cheap s/h kit seemingly go on forever, & at least two brand new supposedly high end gats pack up on their first outing, so nothing is guaranteed. The shops policy of allowing customers to use guns before they've been paid for is a mistake, I've never heard of this kind of "service" for ANY retail products, at least not beyond an initial brief tryout to get the feel for something. To the same degree, if your mate did use their facilities as much as has been stated over an extended period, then I think he's been a naive in his approach, & put them in an untenable position, irrespective of some of the bs excuses they may have given previously, that just sounds like vying for time to get a resolution via wholesalers or manufacturer that didn't cost the retailer anything, but I suspect the time passed & unusual circumstances gave the manufacturers an easy "get out" ?1 point

TBH you'll get a much better idea of what you need/want by going and having a few games. Quite often something that looks super tacticool and slick in the comfort of your own garage turns out to be impractical and/or ludicrously uncomfortable during actual gameplay. I'm now on the 3rd or 4th incarnation of my loadout and its 99% there, but I've spunked a bit of money up the wall getting to this point, some of which I could have avoided if I was a bit more patient...1 point -

Essentially yes - they have a 'handling fee' for small orders (£4.99) but they don't seem to apply any shipping charges to the basket even if the total of the order + handling fee is still below the free shipping threshold. As I was close the cutoff it was cheaper to add a couple of extra bits to not pay the fee. I really like EcoWire - I find it nice to work with, good value when you buy it by the reel compared to 'Airsoft prices'.1 point -
Custom upgrades for TM Glock

Simply due to how long each has been around, there are definitely more upgrade options available for the Gen.3. However The Gen.4 has been out for a couple of years now and you can get frames in both black & FDE, a long with various styles of slides and outer barrels. Plus a whole host of internals. (I should know - I'm trying to move on a Guarder Gen.4 slide, outer barrel, frame, recoil spring and trigger assembly.) Rainbow8 will show you a good choice for both. Bear in mind the Gen.4 has 1:1 dimensions, whereas the Gen.3 is a bit wider than the real steel and likely won't fit holsters etc. Also the Gen.4 has the 15mm BBU, which helps maintain snappiness once a metal kit is on it.1 point -

What a weekend; Namsoft is incredibly fun. Went to Operation Boogaloo at Gunman Eversley Alpha as VC with two friends and we caused havoc. Myself and one of my friends were a pair of VC snipers who harassed the US forces all through both Saturday and Sunday. We would shoot a few, then bug out before they could organise a counter-attack and we basically did this all weekend. US forces kept leaving their radio masts unguarded, so it would've been rude of us not to constantly take their radio masts down through the weekend, which sent their morale-o-meter into the gutter (which was our objective as VC and PAVN). The other guy in our group spent the entire Saturday playing as a farmer, ditching all his military equipment and walking around the site with a rake, watching the US forces and their movements, then getting somewhere quiet and radio-ing in their locations. They were getting very jumpy, but to their credit they never shot him as he played the part of the scared farmer very well. This continued into Sunday, where we kept going with the same tactics. Our farmer changed out into a French uniform and played the part of a French mercenary HVT for the Aus forces to hunt down and kill, but they never got him. We even went on a stealth mission as two snipers (my friend was also marked as a HVT by this point), our French HVT and a PAVN soldier to take out one of their radio masts, but we managed to sneak past the US platoon in the area, do the objective and then bug out. Our HVTs never died (though the Aussies got very close to the French merc) and it was a fairly dominant performance by the VC and PAVN. Numbers were 55 US/Aus vs 22 VC/PAVN on Saturday, down to 25 US/Aus vs 15 VC/PAVN on Sunday, so while outnumbered we played to our strengths really well and the VC/PAVN guys I played with were all absolutely knackered by the end because we had to fire and fade so much over the weekend and Eversley Alpha is a pretty hilly site... Only my 2nd Namsoft game, but I'm definitely going back. The VSR performed amazingly and I think all bar two of my kills were 60+ metres (with most of those being 70+ and one of the less than 60m kills being with the pistol) and I thoroughly enjoyed the filmsim experience. I'll never get into milsim, as when I tried that I didn't really enjoy it, but filmsim is an absolute blast and I encourage people to give it a go. Also, especially considering how annoying we were being, I didn't have anyone get mad and square up to me this time (that group wasn't there, funnily enough), but I did have someone moan to me about a headshot I did at about 60m. I'll always aim for the chest and tried explaining how long range shots work (like how the hop up makes the BB go upwards towards the end of the trajectory, how a slight breeze will take the BB on a magical mystery tour, how a leaf will knock the BB out of the park and get a home run), but he wasn't prepared for me to speak and clearly just wanted to have a go at me; I tried explaining my side of it, but he wasn't interested in listening, only venting, so I gave up. Otherwise my experience was fantastic and I loved the whole thing. Some of the special forces guys shook my hand after the first day and said how impressive some of my shots were. Playing as a sniper can be pretty uneventful sometimes, but when you have one of these games where you feel like you're making a silly amount of impact on the game, it makes it all worthwhile. Haven't had such a good game in a long time!1 point -

Happy with the placement where the left is clear for the rifle to dangle and I can dump an empty rifle mag and pick up a fresh one as my right hand moves back round. Pistol reloads I am less worried about as it is a back up and one of the pistol pouches usually has a speedloader in to top-off the MWS magazines during a game…love the gas efficiency.1 point -

Today was my designated tinkering day with the MWS before my first post-lockdown game next Sunday at Spartan Woodland, Bristol. I have set the MWS up with all stock bolt, nozzle and valve (NOTE: I have taken 0.15mm off the back of the valve to up the output to about 10fps). Running 0.30g BBs through a CrazyJet 250mm barrel, Modify tan bucking and Laylax hop arm. The shed was a balmy 13degC (or there abouts) and the mags and gas were all at ambient temperature. I gave each mag a 5sec fill, in bursts of 1s and then left for 5mins to let the temp settle. Each gas was given 5 shots over the chrono, with 1s gaps. I often finished up with some full auto to check on cool-down. ***All FPS given as 0.20g BB equivalents*** Nuprol WHITE = 330fps. Still very snappy shooting and not much cool down after 20rd full auto! Nuprol GREEN = 340fps. Benchmark for regular "green" gas. Does cool down a bit. Nuprol RED = 395fps. Eek, well over the limit so I would keep for days when the temps are in single digits. Abbey Vertex Predator = 341fps. Apparently a "powerful gas for heavy weapons" - or just another green gas in an orange can ASG Ultrair = 340fps. Pretty much the same as any other green gas, but Patrolbase have a "Two for £10" offer so I have 8 cans of the damn stuff! Interesting that the difference in Nuprol WHITE and GREEN is only 10fps. I purchased that can for an old TM MP7 I had that (with a tight bore barrel) was WAAAAY too hot to use. That dropped the fps by 20-30 IIRC. Maybe the MWS is just a very efficient system? I checked the accuracy and zeroed the Visionking LPVO scope. 34mm group at 12m bench rested. Should be ok for hitting man sized target at 20-50m.1 point
-
@TadsJ2 I am currently using abbey predator/vertex for colder days and have used propane but runs too hot. The valve is recessed quite deep in the mag, is the gas nozzle all the way in when you are filling, the abbey nozzles fit nicely. In order to fully fill a magazine, you should be getting nothing spitting out until the last couple of bursts. Once you get a little liquid coming out, stop. Leave it for 10 seconds or so, then give it one last fill. From that you should get 2 full mags plus another 20+ shots. Angle is everything when engaging the gas can nozzle with the mag. It is not vertical but about 20 degrees to the base plate angled towards the front of the mag. If you fill vertically it will spray liquid everywhere. I have some we x3 red and the metal nozzle of the can doesn’t seat as well with the mag, you have to give it a wiggle in angle until it seats and then it works without spitting gas everywhere. Abbey’s nozzles are narrower internally and externally. As for taking the o rings out, never done it so wouldn’t like to comment. @Davegolf Yes I meant no o-rings or green gas mod as all my mags are v2.1 point
-
Yes TechT on all your magazine O rings, and the piston lid seal. Gun oil on trigger set, and BCG to receiver PS you can generally wipe down the externals and clean all non rubber/silicone parts with the gun oil too. It serves as a cleaning agent, anti corrosion and lube all in one.1 point
-
What I was lead to believe is... If you have first gen mags, you cut the pipe and no o-ring. That allowed a decent volume of green gas. For gen2 mags, tm modified them to stop green gas being used due to power limits in Japan. You no longer need to cut the pipe but need o-rings to allow a fill.1 point
