£150 for a re-sprayed, ex-boneyard gun with missing bits (rear sight and stock battery cap) - that used to be sold (until recently) for £120-140 new.....oh, you also have to cover the postage. There's far better BRAND NEW guns for that money.

That's a slightly trickier proposition than the usual scope tube, but I'd give Red Dot Engineering on eBay a shout, as they've made some very good sight protectors for a range of hardware. The lenses are polycarbonate so they're not "sacrificial" they're properly BB resistant. And they 3D print the lens holder - typically it's slightly elastic material which looks decent and won't fall off. And they're not expensive. Example protector for 'Amazon special' red dot... £10

Since adding the Trex arms dump pouch to my belt (have not been a fan of previous belt mounted options, but the addition of the thigh strap has been a big win) the TED on the plate carrier has fallen out of favour. Likely be swapping that back over the trusty mini dangler for the next few games having been getting a lot of mileage out of the one on my chest rig every time I use it. Also the first time I’ve worn a UBACS in about 8 years for no other reason than I’ve been too self conscious, suffice to say they’re very good at what they’re supposed to be good at.

when he's not intentionally trolling with the sneaky internet "facts", he does know his stuff. certainly he's on a short list of names that'd add value if i saw it in a classified ad. it's worth remembering though that his approach to certain topics is that of a professional tech, someone who's being paid to put in a better standard of work than most folk could do at home. for example his stance on ptfe tape to seal cylinder heads is based on it being messy and unprofessional. this is true, and you'd expect a professional to do a proper job. but if it's your own gun and you're not worried about the next guy who has to work on it then it's one of those bodges that does actually work.

If I were hoping that someone might pay me eighteen hundred pounds for a toy gun and a sight that won't make it any more accurate than the cheapest Chinesium red dot at airsoft ranges with airsoft accuracy, I reckon I'd make a bit of an effort to come across as a reasonable chap who would be a pleasure do to business with. Of course, other opinions are available.

tbf, bb's are round, you look at them from any angle they're round, so rounds is a technically accurate term to use, it's the real steel guys who have the wrong terminology, should call 'em pointies as for the feeding, the split feed tube is sprung closed, and when closing it's not quite straight but pinched in, add in the rattle of firing and it's just enough to keep them moving upwards. at least that was my experience, drop the mag and you could fire everything in the feed tube with reasonable reliability, but as with all things airsoft ymmv.

Does make me wonder how much these things actually cost to produce. I remember seeing the S&T SMLE as low as £250 on some Asian websites, yet that sells for as a high as £450 on some sites. Yeah their prices do go up and down, however i still find them to be one of the cheaper sites. And I got lucky with their S&T SMLE when they had it up for £299.

I'd like to see one up close. I hanker after a deactivated No4 with a working bolt that can cycle deactivated rounds, this might scratch the itch for a bit less cash. And let me do some plinking with it too. Edit: Not much less cash... de-activated no4's are available with cycling bolt / dry fire / removable mag for £850. I suspect the breech will be welded up so won't take dummy rounds, but it's the bolt-action itself that I have some weird case of "whatever-the-physical-version-of-ASMR-is"

There's only one that will fire unless you turn the gun upside down. Once the mag is out there's no spring pressure to feed BBs into the hop unit. Originally they all had a BB latch, they now do two versions - Sport and Pro. The Sport (on the right) has no latch so it behaves like a normal hop unit, the Pro has the latch on the bottom of the feed tube to stop BBs falling out. To clear the gun properly you just poke your finger up the magwell to release it. Mags with followers won't feed the very last round unless they're the ones with the ridiculously long follower that sticks right out the top of the mag and they have their own issues. To be fair, I'm not so tight that loosing a couple of BBs bothers me it's just a nice to have. The tracer function is good but depending on which version you get it might stop you using a MOSFET. The earlier models are powered from the balance lead on your battery, the later ones have connections to the motor terminals and that screws up the fancier mosfets like Titans etc. Luke at Negative Airsoft is running a business and needs reliable parts that work predictably. The Maxx units can be finicky to fit (some receivers just won't work with them but they are expanding their range to allow for more fitments) and some QA issues on the redesigned ones (when they started coming in gold instead of red) means that they have gotten a reputation for being inconsistent. Pretty sure those issues have been addressed now. They ARE expensive for what they are ie a hop unit, when something like a plastic ZCI rotary can do the job just as well in most cases. However, you are paying for the adaptability and wider range of function that the Maxx offers, even if you don't need that function yourself. They come with two different arms (one for standard hop nubs, one for flat/r-hop, two different length flat/r-hop concave nubs (both of which effectively give you TDC hop adjustment) and all the retaining and positioning springs you could hope for. Like all things airsoft, it's only as good as the rest of the gun and the person installing it getting it right. I have no doubt that Luke could fit them if he wanted to but when he can get a box full of ZCI plastic ones for less money and they do a perfectly good job for most builds, why would he? They're NOT the answer to everything, they're NOT a guarantee of increased performance and they probably won't help you get laid. As a company they have a pretty decent reputation in the RC car world and are clearly happy to keep trying to innovate. Their triggers work well with Gate mosfets too so that's a plus point for me and Airtech have a range of parts to tweak and improve them if you're into that kind of thing. Luke is a top bloke, got to know him from the days of playing at The Mall when he used to be the shop tech for A2 Supplies (before they moved to Reading). His views on a lot of the "latest thing" type upgrades etc are generally based on a LOT of experience over a long time of airsoft guns and a quite frankly VAST collection (go take a look at his gun room videos on his YT channel). He can definitely rub people up the wrong way because he's happy to tell them they're wrong. We've recently had a bit of a disagreement about why he can never get an airbrush to work for more than 5 minutes. He says it's because they're all the same and crap, I say it's just him but there you go. You could do a LOT worse than paying him to fix/mod/upgrade your gun for you.

I would happily send him my guns, he has done some tinkering on pistols and mags for me back in the days of the Mall when I was a regular player and he was upfront and honest

@RostokMcSpoons I'm trying to get my DE M904E to be a bit of a rifle that does it all, in that it's quick enough to get a shot off for a surprise player hiding round a corner but can lob a 0.28 / 0.30 much further than you'd expect and catch people off guard. I'm getting there with the Maple Leaf inner barrel and MR bucking, an out of the box r-hop, but the hop unit is letting me down. They've improved the latch on the bottom of them with the M4A-PRO, it's a different design, and even trying a John Wick style mag change it's retaining 4x BB's in the hop unit for me with no problems ?

It's an offence only without reasonably excuse. If you're moving if from A to B, that is the excuse. I've done similar in the city before, because that's where the RFD was. Firearms aren't teleported to their destination, someone has to move them. Section 36 is for RIFs, the OP isn't importing a RIF.

Just treated myself to a HAO MK16 rail for the TM MWS. Really pleased with the quality - feels very solid.

Softshell is pretty nice. I have some jack pyke digicam stuff that's decently waterproof and not too hot. That plus a waterpoof boonie and I'm pretty happy in the rain. Fortunately my local site has heavy tree cover so it's not so bad, the worst is really the ground and puddles, so some waterproof boots and soft shell trousers work out pretty well, even if I go lighter on the top.

If the unit is particularly bad, yes, but by the way forces are applied, it should be very, very hard for a rotary unit to unwind itself.

I did a thread on this a few months back. I ended up buying a cheap poncho from Go Outdoors in case it really tipped down, but I've just been rained on a couple of times since then, and my Brit Army surplus stuff and decent para boots kept me sort-of dry and warm enough to get through it. This is outdoor woodland when there wasn't much leaf cover. Very much enjoyed the change of undershirt and gloves at lunchtime, and dry clothes at the end. ESS goggles + mesh lower face mask worked ok actually. The poncho remains unused. I've probably got wetter through sweating too much tbh, so take from all that what you will

That's the plan. I'm playing this Sunday at the same site that I last played at, Ironsight, which I could walk around in my sleep. There's a particular outdoors rat run that's around 50m in length with some fixed points of cover, and I use this to judge range and accuracy, and last time with 0.28g + ZCI hop unit + Maple Leaf AEG inner barrel + Maple Leaf MR 60 degree bucking + Omega nub I wasn't happy with the range I was getting. I've gone from the stock hop unit to the ZCI, however for me I couldn't get a sweet spot, it was either too much or not enough hop, plus the Omega nub never sat perfectly (maybe something to do with the ZCI or its arm). After talking to Maxx Model, telling them my setup, I'm using their solid metal concave nub which they recommended and which is one of the reasons I bought the M4A-PRO in the first place (a perfectly cantered nub that's also a little wider than the Omega). Also fine hop adjustment feels like it should be substantially better, turning the wheel with your thumb it feels somehow tight to move but at the same time buttery smooth.

If your happy to spend the money you could consider some good tightly woven wool or tin cloth. I'm not a wealthy man but I was lucky enough to find a Filson jacket in a charity shop once for £20 (these retail for £400+) The weave breathes well, blocks wind and water and is super tough when it comes to rubbing off the various surfaces you find yourself brushing past and clambering over not to mention they are very smart looking jackets. I've never worn it for Airsoft as I've only played indoors so far but I've done plenty of walking and exploring in much the same environments and its never met a match.

They can be finnicky in some recievers, and theyre a lot more expensive for not a lot more bb lobbing performance compared to the zci's But if it sits nice in your gun, and you're the type to care about climbing that diminishing returns curve/the shiny extras, then they are good units.

Pick up a new hobby for wet days Anything properly waterproof is going to be hot, sweaty and gross to run around in, anything not hot sweaty and gross isnt going to be waterproof. Playing in the rain is rubbish, your eyepro turns into a wet mess of not being able to see anything through wet fogged up lenses, or water droplets clinging to mesh, and was that a BB hitting me or a large drop of rain? Most heavy woodland sites youll have enough tree cover overhead from the rain anyway that standard gear will be fine, just pack a change of dry clothes to go home in, or find indoors CQB sites. Ive done a few game days on wide open sites like old airfields, quarries etc with no overhead cover and its just been a totally miserable experience that most people packed up and went home by lunch time. Dont forget to waterproof your gun as well, getting water in the electrics and shorting out your trigger contacts etc can lead to a frantic scrabble to eject the mag and pull the battery out because it wont stop firing full auto. Snow is good fun to play in though!

To be honest, I occasionally buy the sun, but in my defence its because my elderly demented mum in law likes the TV mag, the rest goes in the budgie cage? to be shat on. If only we could find a similar use for KM?
