  1. Welcome. I wouldn't take too much from youtube videos as they're usually heavily edited to make the person filming look like an airsoft god and give a very unrealistic view of what games are really like.

  2. Welcome mate, you've come to the right place, word of warning though, be careful announcing publicly that you don't have a license, the ukara police have eyes & ears everywhere & are quick to pounce on offenders. So endeth the first lesson?

  5. VFC, Ares, G&G. First has great externals but the internals don't reflect the price tag; Second is just a steaming pile of shit with proprietary everything, but their polymer bodies are sturdy; G&G guns were good 15 years ago, the technology used is also 15 years old but prices have gone up dramatically. Regarding gear, eeh, anything with "Airsoft" in the name/brand. Also some design choices make no sense to me (Viper products mostly), like making the spiritus knock-off chest rig too narrow so that it can't fit 3x stanag mags.

  7. That's fucked up, in a sport where our biggest risk is our eyesight, they're playing god with ours for the sake of a few quid (x?), no mention of conviction, but it's got to merit some jail time surely ?

  8. ups, that'll be the issue then ! yep mention it to the retailer , they need to know what a crock of shit their delivery service are so they can use something better.

  9. I would mention it. At this point those with less morals would take it in and then claim I never arrived. Get a second one curtesy of ups as its their insurance that would be picking up the bill not JD.

  10. Seemingly old habits die hard, and as much as I liked the look of the N4 MWS build it was; A) Shorter handguard than I like. B) A lot more cash tied up in what’s meant to be a ‘back up’ of sorts. So I’ve reverted back to the 11.5” URGI, but did pick up a new stock, stock riser and red dot. The Holosun 403R now sits on my Unity riser with a QD to easily swap it around on the replicas I use that on (3 of the 4 I own) and replaces an old faithful Vortex Crossfire which is back on a standard lower 1/3rd sitting on the AK. It’ll not doubt get painted once the weather outside is a bit nicer... or wind up selling it all because it'll rarely get used over the electric options I have available to me. Self awareness is important and all that... ?.

  11. Welcome Slater I remember watching vids of airsoft play and thinking "that looks so rubbish and the guns sound awful" ? Of course when you're there with BBs flying around you its quite another experience ? We always recommend renting the first 3 games for UKARA registration because it allows you to experience the weapon handling (usually an M4) You'll talk to people with different setups and get to hold and shoot some other toys if you ask nicely. This will help you better decide what you'll want to get for yourself. Weapon length is NOT proportional to more range so keep that in mind. Does your friend have a pew you can use? Of course that would mean you don't have to rent and can play as a 'walk-on' just like him. First thing is to buy good eye protection. (Search the forum for discussions on best options) Second is to get good boots with ankle support. (Army surplus is perfect unless you want more modern comfort) Other gear is highly changeable and you'll collect all kinds of webbing and stuff

  15. Hi all, regarding members putting a piece of paper showing their username & the current date within the pictures in their sales threads, I mistakenly thought this was already a rule, but rereading through the forum I note this is currently only a recommendation. Any way this could be made a permanent requirement please, I just feel that with the ever growing membership, many of whom only come here to take advantage of the high member count & just utilise the classifieds, it's only a matter of time before we get another run of scammers trying their luck. I also feel this should be applied to the appraisals section, as some threads there seem to be worded in such a way as to generate sales interest, with members often replying saying things like "first dibs please", again without the op displaying proof the items are in their possession. Its a small point but fairly crucial in ensuring provenance of items shown in pictures.

  16. G&g are decent but they seem to be trying to push more into the premium price range for some reason with weird gimmicks. I totally forgot about Ares. I did work on my friend's honey badger. The suppressor was loctited on wonky, bending the shitty aluminium inner barrel, the bucking tore the first time he took it out and the motor had such weak magnets that it basically spun freely. The gears were ok at best and the piston was really cheap. The proprietary gearbox and FCU sucked and are notorious for cracking even in lower power builds. Secutor are literally just Ares marketed at twats and have all the same issues for a 20% price hike. I would personally never buy one, not even for cheap.

  17. It was a bit lower down first, and that was a pain. Where it is now I can reach fairly easily so the only real difficiency is the securing strap. I was pondering the leg holster this gameday when I realised how many of the Call of Duty slides for cover I was doing. Which was surprisingly high considering how fecked both my knees are ?. The whole Auto 9 thing is a light hearted backup for my DMR, as the Baby Badger is viable for that roll too. Not with the way gas pews are behaving in this weather ?. Point taken though. Will come with practice. It'll have to... The safety mechanism is utter pants.... Nearly took out several of my office monitors the other week when I was being careless with maintenance gas. ??? Also considering adding a collar and Brassards to the plate carrier too.

  19. No offence fatty?, but that looks like a pain in the arse to use, surely wearing it on a belt with a lower thigh strap on would work better ? PS. I'm a chunky monkey so I'm allowed to make fat jokes?, I'm also a slap head, pretty much disabled, & ugly as fuck, so the world is my oyster, maybe I should go non binary & then I'll have covered all the bases ? 29. New toy for my sniper kit and going to make working as part of a sniper/spotter pair incredibly effective. Is it needed at airsoft ranges? Not for most shots, since we're talking not much more than 100m max, but it'll help make long range shots a bit more consistent. Going to start learning precisely how to use those little dots on my scope for those long range shots Going to take it for a spin and get some ranges from some firing positions I like at Worthing Airsoft this weekend, as well as seeing if their targets on the range are the ranges they say they are

I feel that SRC gets a bad rep for it's cheaper lines. However like many other brands it does have it's good and (admittedly mostly) bad products. The V3 Gen 3 SRC Gearbox is genuinely very solid, the stock SRC Magnatar motor is a very very good motor and I still snap them up these days. SRC were the first brand to make a genuine stamped steel MP5 AEG which is very good quality (Not to be confused with the cheaper models). The one thing I would accuse SRC of is complacency, they have fallen behind most of the competition when it comes to modern features on their entire range.

I have a Lancer Tactical LT12 that I bought to find out for myself just how bad they are. The answer is that it is not too bad at all, once you get over everything being just a little bit off spec. After much fiddling around, I ended up putting the original gearbox and hop back in as nothing else seemed to fit or work in it. Fortunately, the QC gearbox and rotary hop are pretty decent; not great but decent. The biggest issue that I have found is that it is VERY picky about magazines; it only seems to like Magpul PTS PMAGs and some other mags that I have modified to fit. The hop seems to have a very short feed tube. It is currently the test bed for a CHiLUN mosfet. It happened; what they were doing, and are still doing, is unforgivable.

  41. It was always gonna have some sort of issues in the first run, so if you know that but want it: wait. That's what I'm doing, money is set aside for later. I'd not be at all surprised if lots of owners who don't enjoy partaking in the sport of forum whinging are out there happily running around with them today though, blissfully unaware of the fact their xyz gear doesn't mesh optimally. Strong chance they'll give up the game before the thing breaks - as is the case for a significant plurality of RIFs purchased I might imagine. I've been to Luke a couple of times recently, he's done good work on the guns I've got back far as I can tell, perfectly alright bloke all around. I'm not sure he'd disagree if I said he's the most contrarian person in airsoft though and I do think there's not a slim chance he's over-exaggerated somewhat in that video just because it's the hot new thing; at least in terms of tone and attitude. No disagreement from me that objectively it could be better made for the price. Again, I like it and I want one, but I'm not buying one now.

  44. I once designed a couple of weekend immersive military experiences. In version 1, participants would arrive in the dark, ideally while it was raining, and would be sent off to dig slit trenches on the edge of a field. Once they had settled into their slit trenches and were just starting to heat up their ration packs, they would be ordered to move out immediately. On arrival at their new location, the process, or a similar one, would be repeated. Keep doing this until endex and then send them home. The alternative to this was to stick them in a barracks for a weekend, complete with ironing boards, irons, boot polish and all the other wonderful bits and pieces. Their first task would be to get their kit into a condition that would pass inspection by a grumpy former senior NCO, who would be well paid for throwing their kit on the floor, emptying their lockers and shouting at them. Once they had got their kit sorted out to his satisfaction, they would be sent out for an eight mile run in full kit, ideally in the rain, after which they would have to do PT on the parade ground. This would be followed by sorting out their now wet and scruffy kit, again subject to Mr Grumpy's inspection and approval. Then, get them to clear up the barracks before they get a chance to eat. Keep this going for a couple of days and send them home. I thought that these would provide a far more realistic insight into military life. I also had an RAF variant, which consisted of checking into a 5 star hotel for the weekend and running up a huge room service bill.
