Macks airsoft dreamers of the week thread

Did his right hand divorce him? I’ll admit that I was taking the piss by making the offer; however, I was somewhat surprised by his response. I do wonder what has gone so wrong in his life to make him the way he is. As I am a bit of a c**t, I have prodded him again by raising the offer to £15.9 points -

The thing is you can take pretty much any military and find something nasty that they've done. People need to stop looking for offence where there isn't any4 points -
Never saw the appeal of the obsession with NVA (both German and North Vietnamese flavours). They were Communist dictatorship states. I'm only extracting the urine. Have had Strichtarn and Brushstroke kit in the past. Also +1 on avoiding Reddit for mental well being.3 points

I have the same conversation with a lot of online redditors regarding RUSFOR kit. People jump on the Airsofters for wearing certain kit, like wearing EMR for example means you’re actively supporting what’s going on in Ukraine. Adding politics to a certain kit/camouflage is less than ideal. I used to wear a Heer kit when me and my friend ran as a 2 Man MG-42 team but we definitely don’t agree with what happened during the 40’s. Same as how I tend to wear an EMR uniform (No ribbons etc), it doesn’t automatically make me support Putin and the invasion of Ukraine 😂3 points

You could say the same about people wearing ww2 German kit. Personally I'm not too fussed what someone wears to a skirmish. If they start spouting hateful propaganda then I have a problem3 points -

I like painted guns, I like FALs, can’t argue the most iconic paint job on a FAL is the Rhodie paint. I can’t speak for anybody else but that’s my reasoning for doing it lol3 points -
Seems like the next release after the East German AK, will be the PKM. Imagine the price and weight will be significant. They might show off some of their other upcoming releases at this month's MOA show. The PKM will be there.2 points

Nope 😂 Still a poor design choice in every m249 style gearbox, but it's a £3 fix at least2 points

The A&K m60 series is a solid contender, very easy to work on when it eventually goes down. Just be cautious of the feeding mechanism and making sure the tube doesn't get crinkled as well as making sure the internal feed tube also is positioned properly. I've always avoided anything Ares just on principle so can't speak on that one The Novritsch SSR249 (Not owned one personally) would be good I assume, the other few Novrtisch AEGs I've had and/or worked on have all been solid. Although my only video I've seen of one was the youtuber who had his catch on fire (I assume that's been QC fixed by now?!) Krytacs are good, when they work. When they break, it's usually some form of slightly out of regular spec thing which makes them a bastard to fix up. @HuttArmouries had an LCT RPD for a cracking price, not sure if he still has it though Alternatively, if you want to try the LMG role without investing too much (Make sure your site counts them as an LMG first) a Cyma RPK could be a good way to dip your toes into that side of the gameplay without spending a fortune I've primarily been an LMG gunner for my friend group for the past 4 years and I've loved it so much. However, you have to factor in that you're going to be suppressing more and going for accuracy a lot less - Which you seem to understand. Also be prepared to be hated by the enemy, and financially in ruins because of BB's and breakages 😂2 points

Aye. That was a point I bought up a little while ago, a guy was talking about the “slaughter of civilians by Russians” on the Airsoft subreddit because a dude posted a pic and he was in an EMR get up. They used the point that it was “wrong to glorify invaders causing war”, I mentioned how many people use GWOT kits and never get hated on. War is bad (Obviously) but it’s Airsoft. Most of us wear kit because it looks cool, not because of what it represents if that makes sense That being said, I wouldn’t mind some short shorts for the summer 🤣2 points -
As others have said, yes marginal, even tiny, improvements MIGHT be gained, but unless your confident enough to do it yourself, maybe following YouTube tutorials ?, then there will be costs involved. But, as has also been said, what is it doing that isn't up to the job ?, in my mind if a stock gun is pushing out around 300+ fps on a .20, & is shooting straight, then I'd be inclined to leave it alone until something changes or goes drastically wrong. The web is littered with tales of attempted upgrades, some by so called techs, that havent achieved much improvement, or in some cases got worse.2 points

Without changing a few parts there is only so much you can do. Surely a complete gearbox cleanup, (proper) reshim and relube will help with sound, rate of fire and general consistency but it's marginal. A better hop rubber will allow you to use heavier BBs like 0.28s and experience a significant gain in range and spread over say a 0.20g. Please consider that most of the times the stock internal parts aren't meant for performance but rather to give a useable product for the lowest manufacturing cost possible.2 points

Current LMG of choice
Baser reacted to Cannonfodder for a topic
I had an A&K M249 years ago and I think one of my teammates summed it up best. "Cannonfodder tends to swear at his saw than by it." The pot metal parts were very fragile and the micro switch in the trigger kept sticking causing the gun to keep firing after I released the trigger. To be fair though this was over 10 years ago so I don't know if these issues have been solved. Other things to bear in mind are the extra weight and ammo costs. I was going through several bottles of bbs a day1 point -

Fire selector problem
Cannonfodder reacted to Galvatron for a topic
I'm no V2 expert but a semi only function does sound like the selector plate or something mechanical there has given way and I have seen something similar on a V3. I would usually expect an electrical fault to run full auto only or not at all.1 point -
Optimising standard aeg?
wadsy reacted to Cannonfodder for a topic
In my experience cyma gearboxes tend to be well made so unless there's already a problem or it's making expensive sounding noises then personally I'd leave it. It's also worth noting that if you do open up the gearbox there's just as much chance it'll make no difference or even have a negative effect. If you do decide to open them up then make sure you completely finish one gun before starting the other. The last thing you want the evening before a game is to have to fix 2 guns1 point -

Tbh that's a sensible offer. The broken body is a known weak spot on them and the busted fire selector means it'll need more work.1 point -

Most factories don't do a great quality control job, so yes tearing down a gearbox and making sure everything is greased correctly, shims are shimmed correctly, AOE is good etc is definitely going to help with optimising the gearbox without costing anything - If however, you open it up and find there's a plastic rack on the cylinder for example that should be changed out for metal teeth. Essentially, any small things that you notice are off whilst it's open are going to probably be worth changing out. Depending on who made the replica, some hop buckings are good but 99% of the time changing out to an after market option will always yield far better results. I always recommend trying to learn yourself as it's not only cheaper but it also gives you a better idea of if something isn't right with the replica (Make sure you have a back up if you decide to open it up, in case it goes wrong... Or better yet, buy a cheap boneyard rifle with the same gearbox type you want to open up (if you can, of course) and learn on the fecked one (That's how I got started, messing with boneyard AK's haha)1 point

I suppose the first question is what don't you like about the way it currently shoots? In my small collection I have 2 of the same gun one has been upgraded, one is standard. The upgraded gun has Extended tightbore barrel (covered by a suppressor) - Slightly more power, slightly better accuracy 4uantum hop rubber and nub - Again more accuracy and consistency Gate Aster Mosfet - Mostly for trigger response if I am honest but also more programming and set up options and pre cocking Brushless motor - Slightly faster rate of fire, less electricity used per shot Upgraded cylinder - more consistency and tuned for the barrel length Shimmed to within an inch of its life - makes it quieter and a lot smoother The standard gun (bought used as a spare) is standard apart from the hop rubber and nub. You can tell the difference if you shoot them back to back, the unmodified gun is just a bit cruder, noisier, a little more inconstant, has a slower trigger response and uses more battery power but I am happy to use either gun as individually they behave very much the same. So question is what do you want that your current gun doesn't give you?1 point

As long as the parts you use all mesh well together, then the likelihood of it improving performance is favourable. However, your questions are extremely vague... What is currently "wrong" or dissatisfactory with your RIF, what do you want it to do that it currently doesn't? How much are you looking to spend? Are you taking it to a tech to do or doing it yourself? There's a lot of factors that need to be answered before you can get any sort of viable help1 point
