  1. Eh, it was the end of the day, we were winding down a bit anyway. It's not a job that I'd be willing to do for love, sweetie money or token freebies, so I'm not criticising. My main point is that the ROF, accuracy and magazine capacities out there makes for pretty withering fire and makes pushing objectives a Quixotic task. There's been talk about limiting the site to semi, either when shooting into / out of buildings, or even just a flat prohibition except for actual support guns (not ARPs with box mags).
  2. The plan was reasonable in principle; the defenders could only respawn when they had a group of 5 waiting at the spawn. However, the spawn was too close to the objective (and not properly enforced), and the defenders figured out that they could just call themselves out when they had 3 or 4 waiting, run (half way) to the spawn, and get the whole group back in. Meanwhile, the attackers just bogged down and concentrated on shooting rather than pushing. I dropped the DMR and went in with the MP5K but got hosed down every time. No big deal, not everything works, but it's not the first time they've run this, and the problems with it are fairly obvious. It needs solid marshalling to stop the insta-spawns, but by that time the marshals were more interested in playing with a drone rather than sorting it out. It wouldn't be airsoft without something to complain about.
  3. Indeed, the last game of the day was abandoned because it was run as a choke point game with no flanking, and the attacking team (us) just couldn't push, no way, no how, and simply gave up. That. I mean, that's why we're there, to shoot toy guns. It's just that becomes impossible to complete capture-the-thing when both teams are on infinite respawns.
  4. Pretty decent day yesterday. As statused, it started poorly with an s-hop in my new DMR build that was protruding slightly into the barrel and skying BBs even with no hop applied (and even with the hop arm removed). So it was back to the G36 for the morning, all good. Fortunately I'd brought the box-o-bits and swapped in a Maple Leaf and regular arm and nub over lunch, and got it dialled in nicely. DMR suits the way I like to play, I've never been one for sending clouds of BBs downrange - but can still do so with Mr Full Auto Sidearm if necessary. On that, I'm coming round to the conclusion that airsoft guns have got so good that they're making play less fun. Pushing into solid streams of laser-like BBs gets old pretty quickly. We had fairly low numbers, which made for fewer BBs in the air and a better day for everyone.
  5. Today I learned that:

    1) When making an s-hop, the silicone cannot extrude into the barrel even fractionally, or you'll sky every BB even with no hop on, or no hop arm fitted at all.

    2) DMR naysays can say nay all they like, but I like DMR gameplay - with a working hop.  Luckily I had spares to hand and sorted it at lunch, then it was all fun and games from there.

It helps that my secondary is my snappy little 1.05J MP5K rather than a pistol.  I reckon I split the afternoon about 50-50 between them, I didn't miss out on any full auto larks.

I do the same with my VSR these days and I love it, as it lets me push and play aggressively when I need to, and if someone attacks my hide they get a very rude awakening in the form of full auto .28s. Carrying an mp5k alongside a VSR and mk23 is pretty easy.

Yup, and with it on a drop-leg panel, I barely even know I'm wearing it.

  6. I hope you complied with their demands, otherwise they might send a Tactical Reclamation Squad to smash in your back door at 3am, retrieve their goods from your possession, and ship them back to the sender. ?
  7. Oh, I've already got my refund from eBay, even though the item is still notionally in transit. No messing around, just fire in with the dispute at the earliest opportunity.
  8. I used to, but not any more. In the extant case, it's a late dispatch. In any case, if they've given an indicated delivery date then that's a contractual term. They're perfectly welcome to increase their estimates, and I can make an informed decision on that basis. I'd rather wait two weeks for an honest seller than be bilked by one who promises 3 day delivery than takes over a week to even dispatch.
  9. Incompetent arrogant crooked thieving filth, I'm saddened that you've resolved their mistake at your cost. This, right here, is why I now file a "goods not received" dispute the moment any order from a business seller is later than the indicated date, or if it contains the slightest deviation from what was promised without prior agreement. No waiting, no excuses, no nuance. It's either complete and on time, or the contract was breached, and not by me. I've got an eBay one to file at a minute after midnight tonight, even though the goods are now ostensibly on the way. Nope, no benefit of the doubt, if it's reached the point where I've been able to escalate it, there's no further basis for trust.
  10. I hope no daft Scunt falls for it.
  11. Mmm, airsofters are already delusional enough about the performance of our assault-toys without adding tangerine trees and marmalade skies into the mix.
  12. Heroic, I'd call it quits at 25. I took 4 litres of water today but only got to drink 2 since we got into a literal fire-fight before the end of the day, and our priorities changed rather sharply.
  13. Nice one! Also, you jammy git. Also to the also, I'm surprised that they didn't put a bit of time into sorting it, given the desirability.
  14. Is the correct answer. I hope that you just went with "Goods not received" and didn't go into the (irrelevant) backstory. It's hard on EU sellers, and I don't blame them for the problems being inflicted by bureaucratic parasites having a dick swinging contest. However, they're businesses, they know the score with contractual obligations.
  15. Trying to be charitable, he might have been having a bad day after realising that he'd taken on a lot more than he could deal with. But that deserves an apology later. If he's just shrugged it off then it's likely to happen again.
  16. Oof. OK, sounds like you've been properly mugged off. Well, he's made his choice, all you can do is to make yours.
  17. Sorry to hear that, druid, it's sad to hear that a good site has gone bad. I'd sack it off for the owner's attitude, there's no fixing that. On the money though, I actually appreciate Mrs Owner's honesty, and I think we need to have an honest conversation about that. £25 per person for a full day plus maybe a couple of quid profit on BBs or bangs is great value for us, but a poor earner for sites. I'm astonished that they manage to run at all on such thin gruel. Compare that to pack of chavs where they turned over £600 in 2 hours. It rather sounds like the site owner has decided that you're more trouble than you're (literally) worth. If he's trying to make a living from the land, he could actually be right about that. So it might be best to just wish him the best of luck and move on.
  18. To be fair, TaiwanGun and GunFire gear might take on collector status soon.
  19. Can anyone spot short / stubby / Vietnam style M4 mid cap mags in stock anywhere at the moment?  E.g. the Battleaxe 110rnd metal or plastic ones. They seem to be out of stock most places

Fat Bobs have high caps at £13 plus £6 postage which would be the fallback option, but I'd prefer mid caps.

Bespoke has 20 round real caps which are a milsim too far.

    I've currently looked on:

Patrol Base (the best selection and prices if they had any, which they don't)
    Airsoft World
    Land Warrior
    Arnies
    Bespoke
    Fat Bobs
    Bullseye
    Ammo Drop
    Zero One
    Targets Zone
    UK Airsoft
    And even the BBGunz4U shower.

I grabbed a couple of EPM1-S's a fortnight ago, been waiting ages for them to come to the UK. Got mine from PatrolBase. Crazy how many BB's for such a small mag.

They do look pretty good, I might hold out for a restock.

Fire Support have just restocked with 10x M16VN 80rd low caps.

  20. That is fully relatable.
  21. Nice job. Fans are the only real solution to fogging, I can sweat up anything less, even dual pane with Revision wipes. Is the mesh hot-melt glued on top of the goggles?
  22. Huh, the Mandarin Empire must have given me a decent social credit score, I've been getting stuff from AliExpress within 2 weeks, and under a week on one case. Given the absolute mare that folk seem to be having importing stuff from the continent or the colonies, I'd still rather gamble on our Chinese overlords, if for no other reason than the sheer volume of tat flooding in from there probably swamps the fun police in Border Farce.
  23. Edge 2.0s start at £200 and upwards, and that's if they were in stock which they don't seem to be. That's my total budget, and I've come in under it with the DMR barrels, cylinder and spring. I know that Specna's QC and OEM have been patchy, but the EDGE 1 has all the parts that I want, and I'm prepared to take a gamble on the bearings and gears holding out for a bit. I'll be sure to flag up if I've guessed wrong.
  24. Specna Arms EDGE SA-E02 M933 carbine, my swankiest purchase to date. Mostly decent, one really disappointing part though, full review here:
