  1. The low price of these doesn't bother me at all. There's a few Yuan of material in any set of eyepro. Polycarbonate is cheap, and a dual pane of acetate or PETG and some double sided foam won't add much. I've measured my many (many) sets of eyepro at under 2mm of polycarbonate and none of them have given the slightest concern even when point-blanked in CQB. Yes, you should test them, but that applies to any set of airsoft eyepro. Be honest though: how many of us actually do it? Especially with 0.48g of "plastic" at 2.3J? Even the cheapest of polycarb glasses stand up to AEG energies just fine. Mesh... not so much. And here's a 0.43g sniper BB against £1.42 unrated novelty goggles. One exception is the ~£20 full face masks being punted on Amazon under many names, a few of which are honest enough to admit that they won't take UK airsoft energies. This makes me suspect that they've chiselled that last half a Yuan and use acrylic (perspex) instead of polycarbonate, or under 1mm of the latter.
  2. ... assuming that you get the same seal with the ZCI. I tend to throw them in, because £20 or so on something that actually gets used on every trigger pull is a lot more value for money than most of the ancillary toys that we buy.

Exactly. Glock don't care, directly, whether any particular bbGunz4U vendor is selling trademarked toys or not. All their bottom line sees is the income from licensed toys. As long as someone is willing to pay them that, it's literally not worth their time or money to go after retailers. The only certainty there is up-front cost to them which they may or may not recoup years down the line.
  4. Like that, yes. I was surprised to find that Battlefield V isn't complete fantasy though. I wonder if anyone is still making passive reflex sights.
  5. Aside, if you have any graphite powder around that you've been using as dry lube, it can add some subtle shine without having to reach for the spray can. Even my nine thumbs can't mess it up.

Keep saying, the best value-for-money pistol for typical woodland "use" is a £20 springer.
  7. Well, there's your USP... at least for players. Problem is, that's a dis-incentive for sites to use it, as the current system has site loyalty as a feature (for them, a bug for players). I really do hope that it takes off, but I'm struggling to see how it's going to get traction.
  8. No. Illustrating the problem.
  9. It'll be a tough market to break into, I'm fascinated to know how they're going to get past the Catch-22 of persuading any sites to use a scheme before any retailers have signed up, and vice versa. Sites have no incentive to use anything else since there's zero cost to them or their players. Retailers are already paying to use UKARA, so aren't going to be in a hurry to pay another scheme. I genuinely wish them the best of luck, they'll need it.

Not wrong though. He's spicy, let's keep him.
  12. For clarity, my understanding is that retailers pay for UKARA, not sites. Sites add their players to it, retailers check it to adduce their defence. Granted some sites are also retailers, but I'm talking about pure retailers. If they didn't have to pay for access to check, why would they?
  13. Yes, it's not mentioned on the UKARA site, but I was issued a number on the spot by the site, and told that it would be active on the UKARA site immediately - the email from UKARA is just confirmation of that. If I were a retailer paying £300 (or whatever it is now) a year to get access to UKARA, I'd be questioning the value of that if Joe Public can do it free and gratis. I know that there's at least one retailer who will check UKARA numbers for private sellers, which is rather baffling.
  14. UKARA is a centralised scheme, but the numbers are site specific, and they're best placed to figure out what went wrong and sort it out.
  15. US sites, they seem to like 1.48J / "400fp" limits for AEGs with a 10' or 20' MED and bang rules, with only pistols to be used for point blanking each other in the face and kicking off IRL fights.
  16. That. UKARA numbers are really site membership numbers, it's all between them and UKARA. There's even an app for it now, last time I got one it was handed out on the spot by the site.
  17. Especially if anyone is still buying from them directly while putting the Polish VAT directly into their pockets as profit. The sad thing is that it can still work out to about the same price as buying in the UK (for some items) even when paying + 20% Polish VAT + 20% UK VAT + >£30 in postage and courier mugging.
  18. It's a bit of a catch-22 for them. Without the volume of sales, it's a big cost to swallow. But without charging UK VAT at source, they're not going to get sales volume up (or back). I do remain surprised that neither TaiwanGun nor GunFire reckon it's worth their while though. They're essentially ceding the UK market to PatrolBase and the also-rans.
  19. Dammit, I had a "they're toys, just play with them" post all lined up, then I realised that I have just weathered my LARP-laser-gnu. I've become everything that I mocked! ?
  20. That's a lot of functionality for the money, especially if it can give you a speedyboi trigger. I saw the Facebook post but I don't run V2 enough to be a good test monkey. I'll be watching with interest to see if a V3 appears.
  21. Seems like this preacher might have benefitted from some CQB training. https://eu.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2022/07/25/nyc-bishop-robbed-jewelry-church/10142505002/ Wait, how much in jewellery?
  22. It does dip in energy quite a lot after the opening, but picks up again later. He's a decent actor, but like Tom Cruise, I can't separate his religious dogma from the art.
  23. It's always problematic to know if there's any real benefit to airsoft "upgrades". I'd be very interested to see a bench test with the human element minimised. Short of that, I'm not minded to drop more money on mine, although I am intrigued by the chub nub since I'm already at 9/10 hop for 0.43g.
  24. I have no issues with the stock one. Are you having consistency problems?
  25. Which is why I've been very careful to talk about shotgun certificates. Very few people here choose to get one, but very few people couldn't. No, how many? I guess that depends on whether you consider Brazil and Mexico to be civilised or savage. In any case, I'm not arguing that point. If I could Thanos-snap away all guns, everywhere, forever, I'd do it (to howls of approval from lions and tigers and bears, oh my). Given that I can't, I'm more interested in a dispassionate comparison of the systems. To be very clear, I'm not arguing in favour of the US situation, or its system. I'm more concerned with ours, and how it demonstrably doesn't stop wrong 'uns from getting shooters. It's actually surprising that more career criminals don't get their hands on shotguns here, directly or through a mule. Perhaps they think that it's harder than it is.
