  1. i was thinking you were planning on having the "barrel" located approximately where the magazine tube would be on the mock version, so the whole mechanism would be lower down compared to where you have it drawn there. the firing button might be tricky, as the way i had it in the model it'd be trying to tilt the block up as well as push forward, although maybe some sort of catch linked to the extractor or mounted externally (basically a side button) might be needed. unless, perhaps go even simpler: basically just a spring loaded catch- push the shell in it'll pop down and stop the shell falling out, to fire just push the button on the shell with your thumb, to remove just push the catch up and tilt the gun up to drop free. only real downside is it won't look that pretty when loaded, but then that'll presumably only be in-game when nobody's really going to be seeing it (what with the whole being on the wrong end )
  2. yeah i was thinking initially that if you're loading via the existing port, might be easier to have a martini style system. very quick and dirty concept of what i'm meaning: idea is the block is sprung and replaces the faux loading door, you stuff a shell in like you would if you were loading it, you have the simple push button activator, and to remove the shell you just push the block up (there could be an extra bit sticking out so your thumb doesn't block the shell) with a very basic spring loaded ejector.
  3. that's more room than i thought there was. would it be feasable to have a super shorty/masterkey setup stuffed inside that casing?
  4. so your intention is to put that in a position where it fires through the magazine tube on the underbarrel? wondering if it might be easier to set it up like a martini-style block so you load the launcher same as if you were fitting the shell to the magazine?
  5. all you had to do was lower your expectations for the definition of the term "working" it's a curse.....
  6. everyone wants to win that lottery of a display case gun in good working order, or the "returned broken" gun with nothing more than a blown fuse. the reality ofc is half of a decade old gun that was modded for a failed project by the shop tech, then pillaged for all the awkward parts you can't get spares for and chucked in the boneyard section when the shopkeep needs to clear some space.
  7. ITT: people who'd have an aneurism if they saw me soldering
  8. tricky one, as if it's going via the classifieds here then you'd have to assume the application of secondhand private sale rules, ie caveat emptor. that said, i'd also be assuming secondhand level pricing to reflect that, and if it's higher then i wouldn't be buying.
  9. for the case of the "standard" 2-tone is it that bad a loss? it is an interesting question, for example the aps uar being not a replica by dint of there being no gun (or gun-shaped prop) that it resembles. wasn't it you that used the "man on the clapham omnibus" example to point out it just needs to be realistic enough to fool joe public? kind of ironic that a cap&ball colt would be just as recognizable to joe public and yet is exempt being pre 1870.
  10. yeah but we've all had to fight that demon. just not all of us win yeah but we've all had to fight that demon. just not all of us win
  11. note the lesson kids- us in the airsoft community get that 2-toning is a necessary evil to allow us to keep pewing, so when you turn up nobody is going to judge you if your g&g raider is bright blue, trust us it's not as bad as what some folks voluntarily do to their guns. unless you 2-tone something nice, then we're gonna judge you to be the heretic that you are.
  12. sounds about right. ofc how old one gets before that's an issue is a very individual thing. i'd wager there's a vanishingly small number of people who haven't voluntarily called time on pewing before getting to that stage.
  13. surprised an airsoft company isn't simply branding it as a feature "reduces reload-shot time by 0.4s"
  14. now there's a reference that's making me feel old now.... currently going through the outer worlds, been on my list for a while and picked it up on sale. not gotten too far into it yet but seems to be if fallout did a borderlands pre-prequel, which sits well with me having enjoyed fallout3/NV (haven't got around to 4 yet) and having sunk more time into the borderlands franchise than i'm willing to admit. doing my usual trick of a relaxed easy mode/relatively peaceful playthrough for the sake of enjoying the plot before messing around with specific builds/characters later on. tbh i'm just glad of any game that has more than 2 hours of plot to it in favor of the lazy development option of making a couple of big maps and adding a battle royale mode.
  15. presumably by being a man of taste and refinement?
  16. that laser mount though
  17. i'm not saying i disagree with such a subjective assessment.......
  18. to answer one of the questions in the ad about the lack of safety- it's done when using a speed trigger which essentially keeps the trigger pulled almost all the way and means the default safety block won't engage. it's possible to modify the safety to account for this, but it's equally easy to just disconnect the airline if you want to safe the gun. it's a tricky one, price wise it's a bit steep for a jack build, and whilst aesthetically it might not be to many folks tastes it probably is pretty damn good for speedsofter shenanigans.
  19. iirc powair6 do custom guns that have the stop on empty feature, although afaik they require special mags for them. not sure of anything native to any of the major brands, but i haven't checked recently.
  20. be good to have something to sit between the cyma and RS options. not counting the WE sitting off to one side that is.
  21. see, what i read there is: i'll confess to not being the biggest expert on the intricacies of ak furniture, but i thought the 74 pattern was a side swivel not bottom? it's hard to tell from the pics but it looks like it might just not have a muzzle device installed, or at the very least just a thread protector. eh, wouldn't be the first time folk have run "incorrect" mags because either they don't care or couldn't find the ones they wanted in stock.
  22. they do? https://www.sixmm.com/products/we-akm-gbb-pmc-airsoft-rifle?variant=37052782018721 looks like the ad is one of those with the furniture replaced with RS stuff for the classic look. explains the gas tube change too if the original was railed, presumably the railed handguard and m4 stock adapter mentioned in the ad are the originals
  23. at the risk of potentially giving out advice.... OP: have you considered what you're wanting to get with this £500? it's usual to have to factor in things like magazines, batteries, chargers etc for a starter purchase. reason i ask is that spending less on the gun, and more on accessories such as web gear, slings or a nice optic to partner with the gun can be just as valuable as the gun in the first place. eg a bone stock tm recoil with 1 magazine is gonna be a whole lot less useful than say a cyma platinum with a nice red dot, sling, bunch of mid caps and an odin in terms of overall skirmishability. i know i made that mistake first time, dropped all my cash on an f2000 and spent its first day out with 1 hicap and no sling, needless to say i couldn't bear to drop my new shiny toy on the ground so by the end of the day my arms were in agony.....
  24. Also iirc isnt advertising only allowed in the retailers section? Citation needed
