  1. tbf, you'd be surprised how often you can tag people who just stand around thinking you can't hit them whilst i do agree, hpa isn't strictly a magic bullet. it still requires the rest of the system (hop, barrel, ammo, etc) to be of a good standard. it will also need dialed in properly, whilst this is easier to do than aeg's they can also be a lot fussier especially with voluming. certain systems, specifically the polarstar jack/F1 open-bolt systems can have real accuracy issues (as in worse than a decent aeg) due to the way they work, with the likes of the F2/Fusion being a bit higher end (ie over-budget). i can't comment on the wolverine stuff having never used it, but they claim closed bolt operation so probably the better pick for this case. of course that's assuming you're happy to deal with the air line (which isn't so bad), weight of the tank (which can be a pain sometimes), getting air (which can be easy if the site does refills or a real problem if they don't) and more importantly the de-facto hatred from other players.
  2. lemme guess, were most of the parts sourced from the same company?
  3. really depends on your definition of best. whilst the tm's reputation is mighty, it's not the only gun on the market that shoots well ootb. however as @Groot and @Rogerborg point out a few minor tweaks to a cheaper guns can get them up to that level, especially when you also give them good food.
  4. ^droppin them truth bombs
  5. i thought that's how folk would read it the big problem with such things is the only person who knows how well (or not) a given "upgraded" gun actually shoots is the seller. but even if we assume complete honesty, there's the issue of benchmarking. if the seller claims for example "shoots like a laser" how to they know that the gun they think is good, is actually good? if they're name-dropping a tech that you trust then you can go on that basis, but usually the best you can hope for is to tot up the value of any big-ticket parts in the build.
  6. indeed, i'd not even care because it'd be getting a full re-wire anyway. so the term means different things to different people. ahh yes, the "simple fix", famed for rarely being so simple. that said, plenty of "working" guns can still have serious issues needing correction, hell even (some would even say often) "upgraded" guns can have major issues.
  7. Thing is boneyard means different things to different people. Someone might sell something as boneyard simply because the fuse is blown or its had a bb jam. But yes some stuff is junk, but again folk might have crazy projects or want obscure spare parts and its easier to get a boneyard gun to pillage. You see the same thing with cars, people do buy scrap cars to take banger racing, or to pillage for parts (aka breakers yards).
  8. and tbf, the issues discussed aren't the worst. the barrel nut is confusing me, as iirc it's a sliding block but the carry handle isn't too bad and the mag wiring is the kind of thing i'd be re-doing even on a stock gun. it does at least seem to provide realistic expectations.
  9. description says complete gearbox, pictures say bunch of parts wonder which it is?
  10. Thats impressive........
  11. Most folks selling items as boneyard tend to put either "boneyard" or "spares/repairs" in the title so shouldnt be the hardest to search for?
  12. Can confirm, they fixed the broken contact on mine even though i made no secret that it was me being heavy-handed. Damn good motors too, pickup speed is noticable even next to the likes of the asg cnc stuff.
  13. I know, especially the sas wannabe's. I mean i've never even owned an mp5.......
  14. *flashbacks of trying to get them adjusted on the f2000 to cure precisely this problem*
  15. Hmm, theres a few things it could be but it kinda sounds like the alignment between the cutoff lever and the trigger isn't quite right. Its one of those problems you can run into if your scratch building a box from random bits but not normally for a stock build. How old is the gun?
  16. isn't this a thread for jokes not well established facts?
  17. that was my point, fps on 0.2j is a joule measurement, just in confusing units that make it seem like it isn't. the reason it's taken so long is because there's not much agreement in chrono standards, for example hop on or off, player weight or site weight, quote limits in fps or j, and sites generally can't be bothered putting too much effort into it, much easier to just remember a number. i've lost count of the number of times i've had to explain that no, my gun is not shooting low, it's heavy ammo, especially when they've set the weight on the chrono and are reading the fps figure (which is always a raw figure of the velocity measurement) rather than the calculated joule figure.
  18. i see a sales post for a trilux monocular? the pictures have a 3d printed mock up next to it but it's not mentioned in the post text?
  19. you know fps is a measurement of velocity not energy right? when we use the term fps in airsoft what's actually meant is fps on a 0.2g bb and that latter part is what makes it a convoluted way of stating energy, who's SI unit is joules...... the reason velocity is the thing people use is because that's what chronographs measure/display, and the reason it's feet per second rather than metres per second is the same (read: dumb) reasons we buy petrol in litres, milk in pints, sugar in kilos and steak in oz because the uk is stuck in measurement system purgatory.
  20. An extremely convincing argument, a heavy defence of the seller that isnt remotely suspicious even with the lack of evidence beyond "looks legit to me bruv" and loyal devotion to spreading the word. On the other hand we have the guy who has a long history on this board of buying both legit real optics and chinese clones, but that doesnt mean anything.....
  21. yeah heard of this too. seems they've fallen quite far into the well of dirty tactics since the internet made finding out records from the original source much easier to find.
  22. not just recoils, any tm will outrange anything at 0.8j. except the vsr10, those need stronger springs apparently.
  23. must say i'm inclined to agree. i'd even put money on it, just not as much money as Guinness charges, which is kinda the point with records like this.
  24. am i the only one thinking that's heavy looking paper for a sub 1j bb to be penetrating at that range..... edit: some of the excel equivalent of back of a fag packet calculations suggest for a 0.48g bb we're talking ~0.07j of energy at 81m (assuming still air of ρ=1.225kg/m³ and constant drag coefficient of 0.45 for laminar flow (which iirc i remember checking and apparently it is for our energy levels))
  25. not as many as proctologists....
