Finally got around to putting an actual hop unit in the f2000. Modded an old king arms unit with an stub of inner barrel and it seems to actually work. Of course it being the f2000 it'll go from firing every shot with a 1fps deviation at home to feeding 1 shot in ten about 100fps under on the field.

If its anything like what i've met before it'll be along the lines of "i had him in the scope at 9x so i must have hit him"

Take a look at the pics. Looks fucked to me, in fact i'd be worried about whatever impact did that damaging the rest of the gun

fair point, maybe got lazy sticking on the reflective pad thing

i did try that just to ensure i didnt end up with green fingers next game day so they're pretty well stuck as is. ahh well, nothing major, worst case it's all bits i can replace.

good to know, although my parts ended up too dark so i doubt i'll be able to bring them back, but will bear in mind for future.

Nice, what dye are you using to get the olive? I had a crack on a couple of bits over lockdown but they didnt turn out so well and i had to overspray them

Do it. The aksu is a great wee gun. However you will need a backup for the backup of the backup so i suggest grabbing an aeg variant as well as a gbb for the colder weather and a makarov just in case you get jumped mid reload.

So the rifle is £420 (first result on google, i'm sure its cheaper with some sleuthing) We gut the gearbox and get rid of all of those internal bits that definately aren't worth anything on the secondhand market. Then we add our shiny new inferno gen 2 spartan for £290 Which leaves us at £710 brand new, did i mention that comes with a warranty on the engine as well?

man tm are bastions of elegant simple design, i never realized the hop arm and the barrel were the only internal parts on an mws!

this is indeed true, i think the issue is that a lot of what you see/read tends to be "do x to get y" when the reality is it's a multi-variable problem and whilst often advice can be right for one aspect of the problem, it won't do much on its own. eg when folk ask for range you'll hear "sort your air seal", "upgrade your hop" or "run heavy ammo" when the reality is you've got to do all 3. or the other big mistake, is assuming that cost=performance=fun.

i dunno, you gotta start somewhere, i'd be a hypocrite if i said i didn't do exactly the same (hell i double whammy'd it by buying a unicorn as a first gun), i've walked that walk of shame with a broken gat many times (even several times in one game) pretty much everything i've learned has come mostly from fucking it up the first time and never letting a good gun sit for long without trying out some new tweak. hell the reason i joined this forum was a madcap "i'm gonna revolutionize airsoft" idea which unsurprisingly went nowhere. hell i still do it, can't stop, it's an obsession. i probably need help...... however, the one bit of advice i wish anyone, including past me, would take on board before starting the roller-coaster that is modding airsoft guns is this: have a good backup before you start. and don't fuck with it

not to mention, and this methinks is the more important point, that a stock gun put together by someone who knows what they're at can shoot as well if not better than a gun haphazardly thrown together from the most premium parts you can get.

yep no gun is ever fully upgraded. the closest ive managed still has the original outer barrel....

can depend on what's up with it. problem i have with gas guns is a lot of the time you're talking proprietary parts which on it's own isnt a problem, until one of said parts is the one that needs a fixin. however granted for the most part inspecting key parts for the common failures is a fair bit easier than the rigmarole of pulling and splitting a gearbox.

golden rule of airsoft- be very wary of anything that's "likely an easy fix" because the question then becomes if it's an easy fix then why doesn't the owner want to fix it? in this case it looks likely to be poor air seal, something someone confident in tech work is probably going to be tinkering with on any gun they buy anyway (even brand new), however it could also be something more sinister, like stripped teeth or a mangled spring. also potentially worrying on a high speed build that looks like it's taken a fair few names. on a side note this is also one of the stronger arguments for anyone wanting to learn tech work, takes a lot of headache and worry out of secondhand buying if you have the confidence to know that you can deal with any hidden problems.

if everything's cycling fine then it's not too massive an issue. the selector plate setup in an ak is a ridiculous rube golberg affair so it's not surprising they can have issues. i'd pull the box apart and have a look at the cutoff lever

hmm, ab on a 22k doesn't seem like it should double fire, if anything i'd be more worried about the opposite of it locking up.
