  1. Agreed. I tend to buy new as I'm happy to pay a little more for something where I know it's new and I have the peace of mind knowing if it is a lemon it can go straight back for a refund. Also tbh it's very rare that something shows up in the classifieds which piques my interest and I actually have funds for
  2. I'd say being a member of the forum for years and with a post count in the hundreds probably helps. While it's not definitive proof its certainly more likely that a long term member with many posts is going to be an airsofter than someone who only joined last week and has only made a couple of posts
  3. What is it with site owners acting like cunts towards other sites? A local site to me has had trouble from the owner of another nearby site since before they even opened.
  4. Despite playing regularly I haven't had an active site membership for a couple of years but I've still managed to get my hands on rifs, it just takes a bit more effort. The big issue with schemes like just cos is that our defence was given on the basis that the airsoft community would be self policing. So when retailers are actively looking to promote ways of selling rifs to people without them ever setting foot on a site it comes across as a big middle finger to those who put in the work getting our defence. Not to mention the fact that said defence could easily be taken away at the stroke of a pen so they're potentially putting the hobby (and their own business) at risk
  5. Well your replies certainly are entertaining I'll give you that. They don't make me want to visit your site though How does restricting one particular power source "level the playing field"?
  6. Because not answering simple questions doesn't instill much confidence in how well the site is run
  7. Nosey buggers and people who think they're funny were the reason I switched from a hard case to a soft rifle bag for travelling on public transport. All too often I'd get some twat who thought they were funny saying "what's in the box, a machine gun?".
  8. I'd say that is silly and a load of bollocks. How else are you supposed to adjust the hop up and clean it? Unfortunately it's far too common for airsoft shops to pull this kind of stunt
  9. What an absolute bellend. He was being antagonistic and deserved to have the book thrown at him. I've had a couple of instances where I've been stopped by the police and they could've made an easy arrest but didn't. I think a big part of this was because I was polite and respectful rather than a cocky shit. Simply put if you fail the attitude test then prepare for your day to be ruined
  10. If it's only internal parts missing then I'd say yes. Internal parts are irrelevant as whether not something is a rif is purely based on appearance
  11. Camo tape? Looks more like parcel tape
  12. In my experience most cqb sites charge £35 for a whole day but tend to be from 10:00 till about 16:00 so if games run till 19:30 then that's actually not bad. I agree the half day prices are a bit high though
  13. Especially when the last order I made with airsoft world arrived with just-cos on the shipping label. On a related note I had a look on the airsoft world website for anything just cos related and found this gem Along with Action Hobbies, Airsoft world are the original designers and developers of the 2 Tone BB gun, we currently hold the design rights for the blue and green gun designs. I'd like to see them try litigation against someone for painting a 2 tone without their permission
  14. I'm not sure if I've missed something but what specifically does the just con insurance actually cover?
  15. One for the star wars fans
  16. Tell me you don't understand basic physics without saying you don't understand basic physics, 1.14 joules is 1.14 joules, no matter if the bb is propelled by a motor driven piston, gas or farting down a straw. If you don't like hpa then just say so instead of making shit up
  17. Well for many it's a once in a lifetime event
  18. Definitely. I've certainly noticed it helps my mental health to get a game in regularly I know Garand Thumb did a video on using airsoft for training but I didn't know Demolition Ranch had done one too. Unfortunately from what I've seen many of the real steel youtubers seem to have a massive chip on their shoulders when it comes to airsoft, which really makes no sense to me as I'd bet a significant amount of their viewers play
  19. Imo if you're unsure if a gun is a rif or an if ask yourself 1 question. Would Joe public shit themselves if you walked into the post office openly carrying it? We can debate the legal technicalities till the cows come home, but at the end of the day most people know ⅘ of bugger all about firearms so would just think "gun" rather than "ooh nice glock/sig/whatever"
  20. I usually find that once you add on postage it's often cheaper to just buy on site unless already ordering something else anyway
  21. You couldn't pay me enough to go anywhere near that. The only thing more annoying than attention seeking YouTube "celebrities" are their sycophantic fanboys who worship the ground they walk on
  22. Ok, I'll bite. Why are hpa guns given a lower power limit than others?
  23. If you're waiting up to a couple of months after the 3rd game to get your ukara number them that's down to the site owner being lazy, not ukara
  24. I was being polite (it happens now and again)
  25. Sorry but the last thing airsoft needs is some halfwit celebrity or goontube twat acting as a representative for airsoft, simply put these people are only out for themselves and imo wouldn't be doing us or the hobby any good. Tbh I'm not so sure we really need to be actively trying to increase numbers. As I posted earlier, airsoft has never been as "mainstream" as it is now and those who are interested will be aware that airsoft exists. I suppose my big concern is that it airsoft becomes too big it'll attract the dickheads and put a bigger spotlight on us leading to more legal restrictions
