Joule creep is a phenomenon caused my cronoing at .20 and capping the speed of the projectile rather than using the weight you would be for the game and calculating muzzle energy. They don't use .20s to crono with because it's accurate; they use it because it's quick and easy for people to understand (though if you ask me it actually confuses people more by making them inadvertently think they can use heavier weights to cheat the cronograph - see a inevitable thread that arises every month with someone asking if they can use .28s to bring their gun within site limits). If we had people cronoing their heaviest weight and getting the muzzle energy from that then even if they do switch to lighter BBs then the muzzle energy is never going to exceed what the crono'd with. I don't quite understand what you're saying though as it seems you've got 'crono-cheating' with heavier weights and muzzle energy calculation muddled up. I won't go into it but Google it if you're unsure. jcheese is right though. There's no easy solution beyond some sort of Joule chart and educating players. It's hard enough to get people to understand what '350fps' really means (i.e. a muzzle energy of around 1.15J) - let alone explaining Joule creep. Ultimately though there are people running around out there with sniper rifles firing the equivalent of 550fps because sites don't crono on the weight they'll be using - this is no fault of the player, but it is an issue. Not a big one, but it's there. Really though we need a shift towards making people understand what muzzle energy is and throwing this fps nonsense out of the window. It's a tiny bit more of a strain on the beginner but it means readings will be far more accurate and everyone will pick it up in the same way they pick up how hop works. Like you say, jcheese, a chart like this attached to the crono is not a huge amount of effort.

Yeh, I can see that happening a lot of the time. My L96 doesn't move much at all, but my M249 does significantly.
-
Agreed. This is exactly why I think sites should make the effort to crono on the weight people will be using rather than .20s all the time.

I think this has already been said, but 100m is basically unattainable in the UK. A lot of people look overseas where FPS limits can be higher for milsim ops and see people running HPA systems that will reach out that far and then think they can replicate that here. With a 350fps AEG even with a good hop you're probably not going over 60m. A 500fps sniper rifle with the right ammo and a good bucking? You might get close to 100m. .30s, a good hop and an HPA system is really the only chance you stand of getting a consistent hit at 60m. Ultimately though it doesn't matter. The sites are quite small here most of the time and 100m engagement distances are rare because any good site owner knows that's beyond the maximum effective range of what everyone is using.

I certainly don't have a problem with anyone wearing what they want. Ultimately, it's just a uniform and I can see why someone might appreciate German engineering and tailoring to the extend that they would want to wear it. What I don't get is why there is now a thread identical to this on ZeroIn and here and how he's already told us about his SS uniform back in July. I come on here to talk about shooting people with toy gats. Not get my jimmies rustled goddammet.

This shit again? Just post some toy guns for christ sake.

Welcome Just for future reference: http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk/index.php/topic/148-how-to-attach-pictures/ It's stickied in this very sub-forum.

The best bit was someone offering him 12 keys for it.

Guns Modify also do a very nice and clear cover unlike some of the cheapo ones that allegedly are a bit misty at times.

Dunno if this is going to be bested for the next few days at least: Spoiler: It's Well. I think the post got removed after a lot of hate.

Well, in total aren't there something like only 5 factories that make airsoft BBs anyway? I remember that Nuprol thread and when I looked them up going after their tracers - turns out the only manufacturer selling their services for .30g tracers are a single company. Still, I guess it's the same with most simple products. Particularly foodstuffs are typically made in many less factories than one might think - Muller, for example, make most of the UK supermarket's own-brand yoghurt too. I do like the Guarder .43gs, but they're black and not everyone likes that about them.

If you're not entirely fussed about the look, I can totally recommend the UTG red dot. Cheap, very bright and can also withstand the recoil from my DG M249 with no issues.

The 'What have you just bought' Thread

Hm. Well let me know because I get ruined on exchange rates with Halifax. Might consider switching if you have a better experience given the amount of online orders I make. -

Yes but does your bank not charge for paying in Euros? Almost all do. -
Hm, I remember reading this some time ago, but IIRC the Glock 17 is about 0.7-8mm wider than a real one whilst the 22 holster is 1.1mm wider than a real steel G17 holster, so it's not a completely perfect fit. I've never owned a G22 holster, but I do have a G17 one that I use for my G18c and after some sanding it fit with absolutely no wobble at all. Is there any wobble with the G22 ones?

Are you sure it cost you less? Almost all banks in the UK charge commission on converting your currency (even to Euros) and PayPal is actually far cheaper despite their less favourable exchange rate. I painstakingly tried all three checkout options and found PayPal overall was cheapest. Used to happen to me a lot last year with two separate banks because I was too dumb to switch AliExpress and DHGate over to GBP so it was converting to Dollars or Euros all the time. A lot of the time your exchange rate and commission charge won't even show on your statement until a few days after the payment too :S -
Ian is right. R-Hops are basically unnecessary unless you want a seriously long-lasting solution and are willing to put in the time and have the patience to do it. Most usual hop up rubbers will do fine. That said, this sounds like a problem with the hop unit rather than the choice of bucking or nub. Do you have a picture?
-
Yeh, lots of people do it. With the TM Glock there are no ways around it - gotta get out the elbow grease.
-
Take wet-and-dry to it, yeh. It's going to take you maybe 20-30 minutes but it's worth it. TM Glocks are almost 1mm wider than the real steel.

Gained an extra 30' flat trajectory for free!
proffrink replied to Dannn's topic in General Discussion
The firmness of the nub doesn't matter a whole deal as you can mitigate it through applying more or less hop anyway. Really it's the surface area that matters, which is why a lot of people are modifying the flat nubs to work with extended R-Hop patches for a maximum, even hop surface. -
Oh come on man. You can't say stuff to tempt us like that and not provide a link! Was it these? http://www.airsoftatlanta.com/0-66g-Deathzone-40-White-BBs-p/25548.htm Because screw that. We had might as well switch to these: http://www.patrolbase.co.uk/airsoft-bbs/bb-bastard-nites-36g.htm#.Vjz_4MMST-U Edit:

Welcome! Have you got boots or some hiking shoes too? It's been raining a lot recently and you'll need them.
-
Oh wow, even Eagle6 are out of stock. Thank god I tacked that bag onto my Airsoft Pro order.
-
Begadi do a lot of different metal BBs, but they're terrible for your barrel and especially so if you're using brass. Link.
-
If you need .43s then try Eagle 6 as they stock Guarder. So do Fire Support.
