  1. Yeah they're pretty robust now. They have a latching valve in most models that needs a bit of force to trigger.
  2. Oh fuck yes please do keep us posted on this.
  3. Getting told to buy a real AR upper for my VFC by Billybob because it's cheaper than a VFC one where he's at. We do get some fun surplus stuff here that they don't get though, at least.
  4. The only one I'm really active in anymore is the Heavy Recoil Club, and mostly to skim off the results of an awful lot of autistic people tinkering with their guns. You really have to step back from the process and argument and wait for them to agree on a pinned solution to a problem. It's a headache otherwise. Sometimes they're handy for more general advice like kit or optics, but not great because it's an international space and during Yankee Hours you get Americans boasting about all the real parts they can buy for about tree fiddy.
  5. I mean, firearms officers are few and far between. UK police have a much, much lower rate of armed officers than most anywhere else in the world. Someone getting shot for having a RIF just doesn't seem likely to lead to banning RIFs IMO. I get that it's the collective bogeyman of the UK Airsoft scene because the government is thick as mince regardless of leader or party, but still.
  6. As someone who remembers the IRC and Forum heyday, you just described an awful lot of old forums ngl. Some sites you could have a page of discussion fly through a thread between starting and ending your post. Plus all the etiquette like never double posting, giving fully paragraphed answers to things that aren't as relevant now because, well, forums are a shadow of what they were sadly. I find Discord useful for getting answers to questions but I definitely find a lot of servers a bit too high tempo to keep up with. Better organised ones can have things like slowmode channels for preventing inane prattering, and much like the old forum days, the quality lives and dies on how diligent the mods are about actually enforcing the rules.
  7. I think an important distinction is that no-one is getting severely injured or killed by RIFs. That was the impetus behind the "Zombie Knife" ban, for example. At worst you'll get idiots getting jumped in public by police who have to treat them as real, but it's not often enough that anyone really gives a shit. Like genuinely, talk to people outside this hobby and they barely know that RIFs exist.
  8. I think you'd really struggle to find a copper who gave a shit about it if you stopped them on the street and told them tbh.
  9. Oh hang on, yeah I bumped into one of those the other day on UsedAirsoft. Surprisingly cheap VFC SCAR, slow to reply, would only take bank transfer. Reverse searched the images and yeah, nicked from an eBay listing in the States. I pointed this out and declined the sale, and he spun an absolutely bizarre tale over a series of emails about an international group that was selling the same guns and could move them wherever. I just told him that there's gotta be easier marks to waste emails on.
  10. For what it's worth, that Maruzen is genuinely very rare.

  12. There aren't any, you gotta import them
  13. Honestly I really like having a range at my local site for that reason. If only to get everything zeroed in right.
  14. https://www.usedairsoft.co.uk/bargian-bin/starter-bundle-worth-over-600_i88351 "Starter Set worth over £600" X to Doubt
  15. If autistically fucking around with my guns to gain marginal accuracy improvements is wrong, I don't wanna be right.
  16. https://www.usedairsoft.co.uk/rif-s/airsoft-gun-bundle_i88256 Oh can it aye?
  17. Tbf you can just set lower limits at your site. CQB sites round my bit have lower power limits. Higher legal ones would be nice for variety, but it is what it is.
  18. UsedAirsoft is pretty dire, even when it's not advertising baby naming or HVAC
  19. I mean they're using AliExpress gear in Ukraine rn on both sides. Partly out of desperation, partly because something that does a crap job is better than nothing at all.
  20. I love Cal 6mm Gas Blowback Replica it's my favourite model of gun
  21. I don't seem to see cheaters all that often tbh. Maybe one per game day and the marshals get told pretty quick. But I agree that the ability to hit a teeny bit out of cover makes the screwing around with teching a gun worth it. Accuracy by volume is nice but personally I find most people hit the dirt when fifty BBs pass by them and then the other 50 BBs aren't hitting anything.
  22. To be honest, this has been my experience as well. My VFC G3 is effective out to 50-60m and that's probably my best option. My MP7 a bit shy of that, at 50m before it has dispersion all over the place. I do find with a boltie that while the range doesn't really increase, the precision does a little. Whether that's just using heavier BBs or the actual power bump, I dunno. My boltie is basically a Mk12 build with a bolt action built in, so I get the ergonomics of a good DMR but higher power from it being a boltie. I find I can get first shot hits a lot more often at long ranges, and it makes peeking engagements a lot easier to win. I can hit a head or exposed arsecheek at the range my standard guns could hope to hit a man sized target.
